  1. I did one for a friend once; but I HATED not having on a rig during the plane ride. The jump was fun, mainly because he is a close friend and we had another close friend fly video. I wouldn't like to do it again. It was too wierd not having my own gear and not being in control.
  2. Condolences to everyone at Skydive Chicago. You guys have had such a bad time over the past year or so---I'm very sorry that you've lost another member of the dz family. Julie
  3. I'm uncomfortable with the assumption that one solution is best for every situation. I think that each dzo should evaluate their situation from time to time to determine exit order. For example, at my home dz, we used to have just one group of five freefliers. Everyone else did rw. (We fly a King Air and jump run is into the wind.) The exit order was ff out first, then the largest rw group down to the smallest rw group, followed by high pullers, students and tandems. Because the ff groups were small and few, we always exited quickly. Then, by the time the largest rw group gave us a few seconds and positioned themselves in the door, we had a huge amount of horizontal seperation and were always under canopy long before the next group. We were consistently well out of their way. Now, the dz has grown and changed. We have at least as many freefliers as rw people, and the exit order between the two disciplines has changed to ff out after rw. Since the luxury of taking more seconds between transition groups has been diminished, this makes more sense. Both exit orders have worked out fine.
  4. ......and movie star. Ya know, if you had trademarked your name prior to the release of "Cutaway", you wouldn't have to be pushing those drogues. Every skydiver that I know said, "Hey, it's Bill Booth!" Then, " Wait....what kind of a rig did he just pick up?"
  5. Chuck, WHAT?!?! You haven't been initiated? We will have to remedy that situation ASAP! The next major family gathering will probably be at Rantoul, but we will be happy to throw you upon the altar at any time at Wallyworld. It's too bad that you couldn't make it to the boogie. We would've loved to watch ya swoop those company colors! You should check with Wally (MalOlor Rodriguez) to see when his next big event will be. If he doesn't have anything planned for summer, you definitely should come to Harvest Moon Boogie in Oct.. Lots of brothers and brothers-to-be at HMB! Congratulations on passing the course! Zofo
  6. Thanks to everyone who came to the Cinco de Mayo boogie at St. George this past weekend! Even though the weather sucked for much of the weekend, we did manage to get some skydiving done; and when we couldn't jump, we had a good time sharin' the love! It was great to see some brothers that I haven't seen in a long time, and to meet some whom I hadn't met before. Also, welcome to the new brothers that were initiated upon the Altar of Debauchery. You are now members of a very...um...unique.....family. You must now go forth and find new bastard love children! Zofo
  7. I'm going to Rantoul, but would like to go to Summerfest as well, if it's not too far. How far is it from Rantoul to Skydive Chicago?
  8. Maybe the post ho's will help ya pay for it. Here's an idea---you could dedicate the new bandwidth to forums for the topics that use up the most bandwidth: 1. Boobies Discussion 2. Stupid Polls 3. What I've Been Doing/Thinking for the Past Ten Minutes (This one to be specifically dedicated to Clay and Co.).
  9. It's finally happened.......the post whores have caused severe system constipation.
  10. I'll be there with sombrero and tequila in hand! Zofo
  11. That could've been the rig of El Presidente (Pepe) or Cuidara. Probably Pepe's, because I think Bill's bringing Cuidara's to the boogie. Zofo
  12. Condolences to Mike's friends and family. Blue skies, Mike.
  13. Just a little word to the wise here. I have a friend who nearly always jumps with a full face helmet and Oakleys. Three Saturdays ago, she had a serious landing accident (inexplicible low turn) and impacted several times before coming to a stop. At least one (but I think more) of the impacts was face first. Miraculously, although this was a horrendous landing that left her unconscious for 5+ minutes and in the hospital for six days, her main injuries are facial ones (besides cracked ribs). She broke her nose and other facial bones, loosened some teeth, and had lacerations and bruises around her eyes, as well as a deep impression of her Oakleys embedded in her forehead. The imprint of the Oakleys is also deeply embedded in the face shield, which popped out under the pressure. Although she had a Croakie, during the incident the sunglasses travelled from her eyes to her forehead, then to her chin and neck, leaving their marks along the way. The Oakleys, however, were not broken. God only knows what would've happened to her if they had broken. (I would expect Gatorz to perform this way, too, btw.) So, while some sunglasses provide great comfort, durability, range of vision, etc., it's worth remembering that they may inflict some damage to your face if you impact anything. And cheap sunglasses may be more likely to break and cause more serious damage. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Not going for the zero-p, huh?
  15. Oops! Me too. Sorry I didn't respond.
  16. Dan, I spoke to my rigger again a little while ago. He said that he'd made his request by phone. He thinks that it was Heather to whom he spoke, and she agreed to send him the specs. He still doesn't have them, though. I'll call tomorrow with his email address. That'll probably be the best way to make sure that it goes straight to him.
  17. Did you read my entire post? Instead of taking their word for it that my rigger would have trouble getting the specs, I sent the canopy out to the rigger with the assumption that he wouldn't encounter any problems. He has. (BTW, these weren't people with anything against Atair, or their products. They just had problems getting the specs.)
  18. No, I haven't called them. If my rigger can't get it from them by tomorrow morning, I'll call and ask for Heather. Thanks!
  19. Maybe they're trying to use infrared to find him. We had that happen at our dz, and we had to leave the woods so that the chopper with infrared could discern the missing jumper without all of us cluttering things up. I hope this guy has a better outcome than our jumper did.
  20. I have to get the brake lines replaced on my Viper 150. Several people told me that it's very difficult to get the specs from Atair. I sent the canopy out to a rigger friend at Perris to have him replace the brake lines and check the rest of the lines......guess what...he hasn't been able to get the specs. What's up with that?
  21. Did he try to signal for you to pull?

    That's "meanies and ne'er-do-wells", not "do-nothing Flamers".

    Children?

lisa, you'll want to keep an eye on that son of yours. My son was always fascinated by inserting things into openings. It started out with cheese in the tape deck. Later on, he progressed to inserting keys in the electrical socket. He's 23 now, and his g/f is pregnant! He just never lost that fascination. Julie
