  1. Duno if I'm being a bonner here but by Spector has Pilot chute that needs cocking. I Pack it into a normal DBag. If this what you mean then yep works fine for me - providing you dont forget the extra packing stage Did you mean "Tail pocket" - If so then no it doesn't work for normal Skydiving. Regards Andy
  2. Dude, would if I could but South of France might be a bit too far for a weekend. I'M IN THE SAME BOAT MYSELF! Looking at the new posts since I last visited: Swooping = 34 RW=1209 FF=1573 CRW=8 WS=82 Don't hold your breath Andy
  3. Hello, I really like my Mirage G3. Probabley just because up till now I have always borrowed old kit or rented and sometimes the leg strap buckles become worn and slip lose resulting in a very uncofortable deployment with the chest strap up by my nose!!! The Advance containers have a cool buckle which has an extra backup spring system to prevent this from happening but makes getting them loose again a bit more fiddley. Have you had a look at the legstraps on Paragliding kit? Those guys spend hours in the air. good luck & best regards Andy
  4. Hi, is there anyway i can paydropzone.com a small amount of cash in order to get a bigger email box? I've looked on the site but I cant find any way of doing this but I'm sure when I originally signed up I was offered a choice. Maybe it was a different site I'm usually wrong cheers Andy
  5. There is a canoe in my pocket and its as solid as the rock of Gibraltar
  6. Please note I am no expert in CRW and never done any Paragliding, but I have wondered the same thing So what makes a good CRW canopy & why? Why do people insist on using 7 cells rather than 9? How many cells does a paraglider have? Aspect ratio, a Lightning compared to a Sabre is much flatter. That said the new Storm is closer to a Sabre. What's the aspect ratio of a Paraglider? Shape. To me CRW canopies look a bit square'er and with more volume than normal canopys. Paragliders are the opposite, long, narrow, thin and I think fairly eliptical. Look fu*k it, if I had a paraglider with a reserve and someone wanted to give it go that also had a bit of CRW experience then pick a good day, get yourselves really high up, e.g. at least 5000ft , & give it a shot. That I believe is how CRW first started. Please keep me informed, I'd be very interested in finding out how you got on. best regards & good luck Andy
  7. Here are 3 very good reasons to travel to Gap or Empuriabrava or in fact anywhere in between. 1. Due to the crap weather in Northern Europe this year you have saved a fortune in jump tickets. Use this to justify the cost of a cheap flight to your partner. 2. The weather is unlikely to get any better before next summer. 3. Around here none of the peasants want to play with me! SO COME AND JUMP Best regards Andy
  8. Good call I'm driving back from South of France tommorrow (Friday) so should back to UK early Saturday morning. Will you be there? Wanna beer? regards Andy
  9. Good news, got comms up with Pat Hammond and arranged to call him next mon/tue when I get to UK and we can assess weather. Plan is to do 2 way at Langer but will need to do 3 & 4 way over w/e of 23/24 if we can find 2 other people? Do you do CRW? Can you make Langer for w/e of 23/24? Do you know anyone else that can make it? Obviousley I will pay for other peoples jumps if they are jumping to help me get my CF1. thanks & best regards Andy
  10. I'm back in the UK this weekend 16/17. I'm planning on staying 7 days, unless I'm jumping in which case I can extend by a few days. I've already done CF1 7 years ago but didn't get CCI sig due to admin issues, so hopefully will not need many jumps. If you can help or can recommend people then please do. regards Andy Turner
  11. GOT IT! I thank you and publicly apologise for being an idiot! HAVE A GREAT WEEK Andy
  12. Hi Mike, thanks but... 1. Under "My Stuff" I clicked "My Profile". 2. Select "Edit Profile" 3. I can not see "Edit Picture" button, all I have is a. Personal info b. Location c. Jump profile d. Gear e. Ratings f. Rigging Quals g. Forum Settings ...am I in the right place? ...do I need to be a signed up paying member of this web site? thanks & regards Andy
  13. I've searched the old threads but I (and others) can not see for the Love of Jehovah where you enter the picture URL under My Profile. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE JUST POINT ME EXACTY AT THE FIELD I NEED TO ENTER THE URL IN. The only one I have found was "Homepage" under "Person". My appologies for being blind & stupid Andy
  14. Hi Tom, thanks for that & your info on knives. Do you have a link to Wendy's site please. Regards Andy
  15. At my DZ there are no CRW people at all. That said I’ve been chatting & jumping with the locals and now have enough interest to make a 4 way team so I’m in the process of arranging the appropriate training at another DZ. In the mean time, my sympathetic CCI has agreed that we can fly in close proximity. This is great because it will give us a chance to practice the flying skills prior to rocking up for the course & give the others a better idea of CRW. The only problem is my imagination is a bit limited. Exercise 1: Flying side by side, person A on left of person B, pulls back and fly’s to right hand side of Person B. Person B then repeats etc. Exercise 2: Non-contact rotations, diamonds & in fact all other normal formations? ...has anyone got any ideas on drills & skills we can have a go at? ...does anyone know of any formations that we should steer well clear of? Thanks & regards Andy
  16. On a serious note, CRW knives, how many & what type? I’ve got 2 hook knives, the main is the same as Tandem guys use & the other is a small’ish (4 inch) metal one, carried as a back up. Some one once told me once to get a dagger type as well in case one is totally wrapped up & you need to cut / stab out an exit hole. Sounds a bit OTT & far fetched to me but I have little experience & knowledge. What do you guys & girls think? Thanks & regards Andy
  17. Bugger. Ok thanks for that, back to plan A then! regards Andy
  18. Cheer chap, would it be more interesting / chellenging or just dangerous and non competitive?
  19. Sorry for being a boner but I can't use the video link buttons for examples of Funnels, Wrap & Entanglements - what am I doing wrong?
  20. Hi CaTo, I just wanted to say thanks for putting this document together. I'm trying to get a CRW course sorted for me & some friends this summer + this doc will come in very handy so THANK YOU best regards Andy
  21. I know ideally everyone should use the same canopies but from a practical point of view I'm just after some basic CF1 / B3 type training and equipment is in short supply! In fact, has anyone had any bad experiences at all from flying different canopies together? thanks & regards Andy
  22. A heated debate, GOOD! How abount an independant experiment? We collect some out of date Cyprus's & put new batteries in them. I know where we can get at least 3. We also find/buy an equivelent number of VIGELS of a similar age or older and do some real testing. I volenteer to Zero the things at 3000ft and then jump from 5000ft + if that helps? We make data recordings & write up our findings etc. Apart from battery life & life of pyrotechnic charge I can'nt see a problem with a unit serviving tens of years? regards Andy PS. I also know where we can get several VIGEL 1 units we can test.
  23. Endnarob, as an Engineer myself, I respect the way you defend the VIGIL. I was trying to provoke a responce like this because I'm too lazy to do my own research! I agree, if it self tests on start up each time and that self test is tested at design then in theory each bootup of the unit should validate the unit. Obviousley both units do this, the real question is how good was the test of the self test? I'll take your word on robustness as I have not handled either device. In terms of energy management, I get the jist of it but please can you expand or better still provide me with references. 3 modes. I couldnt understand why Cyprus don't have 1 s/w program that lets you select PRO, STUDENT or TANDEM. It makes sense for the end user, manufacture, logistics & sales point of view. Agreed the data logging facility is also a big + ! best regards Andy PS. I'd be very interested in your data sources.
  24. Anyone fancy an open house CRW party weekend in South of France? My house is 6 minutes from the DZ, I'll even stoke the BBQ up?
  25. that depends who's serving and how much she's wearing
