    The only time I've known of WBC showing up in SC was in Jan of '12. Somehow someone go info on the hotel they were in. The nutters made a choice to not leave the hotel until well after the funeral was over. I've heard pretty reliable rumors of another similar situation but that's the only one I know. We have a lot of people around here that are too poor to sue and don't mind another 90 days at the county. (clarification-I was NOT at the hotel in '12-I reread and saw that it might seem I was part of that group. I can't claim that honor)

    Taking the flag off the state capitol is a very, very good thing.



    And South Carolina did that years ago. It was moved to a Confederate Memorial which everyone thought was appropriate at the time. Then the people that said "If you do this, we will be happy" decided they weren't happy anymore. I like most other South Carolinians aren't wed to the idea of the flag being anywhere. Heck, buy it and put it in your yard if you wish. It does get tiring trying find a common ground with people with stronger feelings only to have to go through it all again. We also realize that it doesn't address ANY of the issues that caused this or any other tragedy in the last 40 or 50 years. It's a silly placebo for silly people.

    IMO, his group of friends and the group he shared his hate with should be charged with failure to report a terrorist.
    It was VERY clear to those around him how much hatred he has.



    The father should build serious time for giving him a gun, even if it wasn't the weapon used (I suspect it was). I'm pro-gun (I won't say pro 2nd-I like guns) and pro private purchase. There is a level of accountability required though.
    In the meantime, don't worry about us. We are healing.

Clicked a random post to reply to-but just in case anyone is wondering what is happening in Charleston-There was a moving message from ministers black and white about strength, mourning, forgiving but not giving up. Hundreds of people of several races from all sorts of backgrounds joined in prayer. A fat hillbilly redneck held hands with an apparently wealthy white woman while a beautiful biracial toddler played with the keys hanging from his beltloop. South Carolina said that hate doesn't win here. Devisiveness doesn't win here. No way. Not today

  14. Seems like I recently read that some officers in some departments were checking by holding the knife by the blade and flicking the handle, which is generally heavier. That's a bit shady. But it is what it is-last year I told a group I was riding with "Do what you have to do but when we hit Chicago I'm not stopping for anything. I'm at least 6 different kinds of illegal there and they are going to have to catch me."

    I was right there at the transition when it went from 18 to 20 to 21. .



    That was a sad place to be. My state ramped up one year at a time and it changed on Sept 1. My birthday is Aug 28 so from 18-21 I went from underage to legal to underage in 4 days. :S

    OK, well I hate ambiguity so here is a statement. If you, or someone else, attending one of the events referenced and is standing around wondering if you should by the support shirt because it matches your favorite pair of shorts or something and says. "I just can't support the (PGR/ military veterans/ or such) because I don't believe in ". My response will be. "Yep, you're a dumbass" and I walk away. End of story. If you choose to use the purposefully inflammatory phrasing and tone skinnay selected, you can expect me to become inflamed and do my dead level best to hospitalize you.
    I wouldn't expect that to ever happen. I don't think these opinions would be held that firmly when something is actually on the line.

  22. What I'm saying is choose your audience carefully. Behind a keyboard is safe. Other places not so much, so I wonder how firmly these beliefs are held. Note that I didn't imply anything except I'd be interested in seeing how things went down. And I explicitly indicated that I wouldn't participate.

    Sorry, I missed your reply. There was no thinly veiled...it was a statement of fact. Mouthy in the wrong place will get you hurt, badly. It's advice best heeded. Would have saved me a few stitches and a bunch of ice packs if I had listened to the guys that told me.

    Cool, then let me extend the same invitation. Except I, for reasons stated on this forum before, am not a PGR rider although I have ridden in support on some of the same rides. So, open invitation to show up at ANY of the motorcycle rides or parties that I attend to express your position. I'll calmly sip my soda and see what happens.
