  1. Sorry to hear about your truck and your feeling so nervous! My husband drives a Hybrid and when the little shits who stole his car could not figure out how to drive it, they took out the manual, sat on the hood of my car, and figured out how to start the thing. I got to drive around with the guy's butt print on my dirty car while looking for the missing one. We ended up getting it back, with some things missing, but otherwise intact. I did not sleep for days. You did not deserve it, by the way! My logic: if I leave the door to my house closed, but unlocked it does not mean I deserve to be robbed. People are just shits.
  2. I'm more partial to 'turd' myself.
  3. Thanks everyone for making me feel better! I have the pleasure of repeating AFF 3 (lost my heading completely and when I found a new one and stablized I had to pull). I do not expect perfection and I know however many repeats I have will make those skills that much better, it is just frustrating because I want it so badly. Attempt 2 - Wednesday...
  4. Just a general question on how many jumps, if any, people failed during the AFF process?
  5. Why do so many people suggest tunnel time if the actual time in the tunnel is so limited? I mean, I understand that freefall time is pretty brief as well, but if I want / need the practice, why do the time slots come in minute or two increments? What is the physical toll? Similar to or worse than freefall? I see that there are actually three in the works (Philly, Manhattan, and Xanadu in NJ) in my area, but that New Hampshire is the closest (thanks, Howard). If I were to make the drive, what should I hope to accomplish? I want to know as much as possible before committing myself to the drive! AFF 2 and 3 are tomorrow so I clearly will not be able to make use of the tunnel before then, but for future reference or for winter use, any advice on tunnel time would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Several threads in the various Forums here have discussed the utility of tunnel time for leg awareness and overall freefall comfort. I am only one jump into my AFF and am increasingly becoming nervous about my impending jumps. To this end, I am curious if anyone knows where the closest tunnel is to northern New Jersey. Any other tunnel info would be much appreciated.
  7. The landing went well. I managed to stand my three tandems and I was hopeful I would land my first solo. My instructor had me on radio the entire way down so I had his guidance. I managed to take a few steps and then tripped a bit, so I landed on my butt, but I was just happy I was down! I was most concerned about landing as well. My instructor knew this and we spent more time on that during ground school. He drew the drop zone for me and the path I would take given the wind pattern. He also gave me the approximate altimeter readings and landmarks for each leg of the landing. I committed these to memory and landed well. He did most of the work, I simply listened! Enjoy and let us know how it goes!
  8. I posted earlier in the Women's Only forum on a different topic (thank you to those who responded), but just now realized I had skipped this Introductions forum. I completed ground school and my first solo yesterday and my body is really hurting. I have a few bruises on my arms and my legs and back hurt, but I am loving it! I do hope the pain goes away, however. Thanks for the great website and the forums. The support helps.
