Just cause I'm a noob doesn't mean I'm dumb... or does it?

Sometimes it does... but usually it just means that you don't know what you don't know. Ya know? ;)

  2. They look to me to be 'old' civilian rigs... circa early 80's, with what looks like possibly 1 reserve riser (for rounds), the throw out from the leg strap, and the attachment of the 3 ring base ring to the rig. I'd love to see a better view of the containers....

Cool, I'll free-fall down to a hundred feet and pull my reserve. The skyhook will save me.

PLEASE... If you're jesting, add a disclaimer. If not, get educated on your gear and how a skyhook works. [:/]

...What would the masses like to see?

Near nekked Pirate Hookers holding jello shots w/their tits, on their abs, or balanced on their ass! ;)

Please post pics so we can all "carefully consider" the options. :)

  5. First of all.... you should have a gear check prior to boarding, from yourself, and from another jumper. Secondly, Nobody will think less of you for asking for a gear check, and if they do then fuck em, they're an asshat. In fact, others would prolly think a little better of you for not endangering yourself or others by getting one.

I think it's a good idea to give yourself a gear check, regardless of whether or not you plan on getting one from someone else. As you get more experience, your reliance on someone else will diminish, but I'd be hesitant to say it will completely go away.

Why are you boarding a plane with the intent of hurling yourself at the planet, unless you KNOW you and your gear is ready to do so? ;)

  6. Wifey and I get what we want, when we want it... so Xmas is all about family and the kids.... We tend to low-key the gift thingy anyways on Xmas. ...and we tend to go way overboard on their Birthdays. :)

Of your available answers, I'd go with cheap and simple....

Hit the local grocer / florist up for some "rose/flower" petals to toss on the bed, a cheap bottle of wine, a couple of scented candles...

Mani/pedi/massage for the wifey & a friend (this one is self serving, on a few different levels. :) )

Cheap flowers delivered to her at work...

I had our kids Christening gown mounted in a shadow box... this one started out simple and wound up costing a few coins though..B|

Took all the pics we've taken over the years of the kids and had prints made... dumped them all in a box. She spent several "glorious" days going thru them all and making scrap books.

After 23 years of her putting up w/me, I reckon it's safe to say 'It works for us!' :)

...an embarrassing/cruel method of breaking it off may be in order

Get her in the sack and just before you bust a nut, pull out and start beating off, while telling her that she can get up and leave cause you just found something better! Bonus points if you can time it right and give her a pearl necklace as a parting gift. :)

the jumper works like hell to gather everything in after cutting away before pulling reserve... ...but ensuring that there is clean air behind you seems like it would be a main concern...

One of the rules you should be following, that was written in blood, is that you should not attempt mid-air rigging. [:/]
    Too many have bounced trying....

Let me decide whether I want one, and don't tell me I can't jump w/out an AAD simply because YOU don't feel comfortable doing so.

Unless your the DZO. After all, it's his/her ass on the line. I've no problems with a dzo making their dz a mandatory AAD dz. I may not like it, but it's their call.

So, what are your reservations about it that made you ask the question?

Actually, neither my wife nor I have any real reservations to her going, other than it's not us taking her and she'll be on foreign soil. I'm excited for her :)
It doesn't hurt, every now and then, to get an outside perspecitve on things as a generalized benchmark of just how 'outside the norm' my reasoning is.... which I guess doesn't say much considering the pool of folks that I'm polling. :D
