  1. Umm, have you seen a therapist for your control issues? Haven't seen a therapist yet, maybe I should look into that
  2. Sweetmoose said we'd all be better off without any religion. Now at first glance when you take in the autrocities committed in the name of religion (crusades, inquisition, genocides, terror, etc) plus the abuse of religion (pediphyle priest, hypocritical preachers, etc) you start to agree. However, then you must throw out the good too. without trying to say religion was the first, the best or the end to all means, it did influence positively things like the creation of hospitals and works of charity (think Salvation Army), build great schools of higher learning, educate the masses (at least in USA), build orphanages, patron the arts, etc. I'm known in my circle of pastoral friends as being a little anti-religous and very much pro Jesus. Just want to clarify a bit, I'm not against religion in the sense of someone having personal beliefs in something, I am however agains organized relgion, which often time bring too many people together to do crazy stuff and can often times become corrupt, just look at the Vatican. I would just prefer that people take religous documents, i.e. the bible, koran, book or mormon, book of jahova, and any other religous books and study them by themselves or with the family and not extend that to churches and mass meetings and try to convince everyone else that they are right and if you don't blieve in it too, you're going to hell. By the way, I do love discussing the stuff, and I'm glad everyone here is open to discussing things like religion without getting too upset. We die only once, but for such a very long time. 3. My mom was an adjuster for Farmers Insurance, she like working for the ok cause they paid pretty good, but she said they suck and she'd never get insured by them, so may want to stay away from them. 4. Oh, and a great site on the bible, the book or mormon, and the Koran is www.skepticsannotatedbible.com, might be www.theskepticsannotatedbible.com. can't remember for sure We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  5. Wow, I haven't read everything on here becuase, lets face it, it's really long, so sorry if I say something that's previously been said. Religion is a farce. It is used to control the masses, to give people something to lean on cause thier not strong enough for themselves, and to explain the unexplainable (take the easy way out). People don't need religion to be moral. I think it's really sad when people do or don't do things because of a fear of punishment or a belief in a reward in the afterlife. There is a very simple way to be moral, treat others as you yourlself would want to be treated. That's how I operate. If there were no religions in the world for people to put all thier beliefs and convictions into, the world would be a much better place. Think of all the wars started over varing religions, just look at whats going on now. The Christian George Bush hates Islam, and Islam hates him. Just kidding about that last part, I don't have anything to back that up with, but think about it. How can any reasonably intelligent person believe in an afterlife. 6. Well, I'm from oregon originally, but I doubt I'll be living there when I'm done overseas, possibly texas, cuase there's a possible good job there, thanks though. The only places I've been to so far are Las Vegas and Mesquite NV, like Mesquite better. We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  7. That's pretty much what I wanted, thanks We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  8. Well, I looked at the first three links you gave me, and they talk about year pay for seasonal/full time people, but what I wanted to know is if the DZ's only hire trained packers for the most part or if they will hire and train new guys. 9. Thanks, I'll check em out, once again, you guys are awesome, can't wait to become one of you. We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  10. Also, tell him to take care of anything that makes him stick out of the crowd, basic will be easier on him that way. If he has long hair, go ahead and shave it before he goes. If he has piercing, might as well take them out prior to basic. Don't wear a crazy t-shirt when you get there. Best plan is to wear generic single color shirts and jeans, and have enough of them to last 5 or 6 days, cause I think it takes that long until you get your uniform. Until then you're a rainbow, so dress accordingly. We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  11. I was in the airforce myself, recently got out. Not much you can give him for basic, but if money isn't a big deal, a laptop would be great when he's in tech school. I bought one during electronic principles and it helped a lot with boredom and keeping in touch with friends and family. Tell him not to take a crap job. As long as he scores good on his ASVAB he can get whatever job he wants. If he's thinking of a career, have him get a job like services or MPF. If he's just gonna do it for 4 o 6 years (like me) have him get an aircraft avionics job. I was in 4 years working on F-15s and now I'm working overseas making 50 grand a year non taxable and don't have to pay for anything except food, so I'm pretty much pocketing 80 percent of my pay and investing it. Also, tell him to say "trainee (your name) reports as orderd" and practice it, it will help out in basic. We die only once, but for such a very long time. 12. I've been working overseas as a contracter for the past 6 months saving up money for when I come back to the states. In another 6 months or so I'll be coming back, but what I really want to do is skydive, and maybe skydive for a living. I'll have plenty of money to skydive one, but I'll want to be working too, while spending as much time at the DZ as possible (doesn't matter which one as long as thy jump year round). Wanted to know if DZ's will train people as packers or if they mostly only want experienced people. Thanks, We die only once, but for such a very long time. 13. My first one was in 8th grade to No Doubt, the first real concert (mosh pit and boobies) was a big outdoor all day concert with blink182 and greenday as the headliners. We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  14. Yup, it's called a paradox, and technically, going back in time and running into yourself is a paradox because two of you are not supposed to be able to exist at the same time and place, and could possibly destroy the universe. Have fun. We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  15. it's cool, i would rather shadow someone anyways since i don't have experience on small planes We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  16. A friend of mine in the airforce worked on cessna type aircraft without an A&P license, just didn't know if it worked that way for DZ's too, anyone esles input is helpful. I'm sure I can get an A&P license if I need to, all I got to do is study up and take a test and I got it. Any more input is much appreciated We die only once, but for such a very long time. 17. Just wanted to know, do you have to have an A&P license to work on aircraft at a DZ. I know you have to in order to work on commercial aircraft, but I have 5 years experience in the airforce working as an avionics technician on flight controls and indicating recording systems. Just curious what kind of stuff I may need. Thanks We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  18. Thanks again, I do feel a lot better skydiving. I've only done two tandem jumps, but I can't wait to start training and jumping on my own. We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  19. I don't know if the movie you're actually looking for is at this website, but there are a lot of movies, books, and other things here. www.skydivingmovies.com We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  20. Thanks for the advics, I would probably still want to skydive even if there was more risk. I wasn't really so worried about the main canopy failing, cutting away and then the reserve malfunctioning too. I was more worried about both canopys deploying at the same time and getting tangled, and then where does that leave you. I figured with the third chute, you could maybe use a knife to cut off the other two since the reserve doesn't have a cutaway, and then you could use the third. Of course that would only really work if you had enough room to do all that I suppose. Maybe I'm just a dreamer, lol. Also, I did look at the fatalaties area and a lot of them are due to risky stuff when getting close to the ground like turning too low or flying into a truck, I just like to cover as many bases as possible. Thanks for the advice!! We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  21. Thanks for all the input everyone, you skydivers rock. Everyone responded so quickly. Well, when I get done here overseas I'm gonna start my skydiving training to get certified and what not. Unfortunately that wont be for like another 7 months. Wish me luck! We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
  22. Wow, do most people have that many cutaways? I guess it's kinda a small number for the amount of total jumps, but still, if 3 canopys could save a few people, isn't it kind of worth it. I know if it saved me it would be worth it. Especially if it isn't going to mess up your ability in the air much. We die only once, but for such a very long time. 23. I'm just curious about a little somthing. When I went on my second Tandem jump I had talked to the instructor about what you have to do to become an instructor. One of the things he told me is you have to do a cutaway and when you do that you wear a third chute on the front for safety. I'm just wondering why people don't wear three chutes all the time. It seems to me that triple redundancy is a lot better than double redundancy when you are playing with your life. I hope it's not a style thing. If it's an ariel manuverability I kinda understand, but still, if I decide to get seriously into the sport, which I want to, I would rather be as safe as I can. Thanks in advance for any input people have. We die only once, but for such a very long time. I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.
