  2. rule A: naked pyramids bad food and torture in our military prisons. rule B: torture no food in iraqi civilian prison and hung 2 days later. Born ok 1st time.
  3. burn the judge at the stake. torture or witchcraft are wrong, but to say it doesn't or wouldn't work ever is wishful thinking. Born ok 1st time.
  4. Interrogations may involve torture, which various human rights organizations claimed to be ineffective at producing accurate information, but is effective in getting false confessions which might be useful for political reasons for the officer and organization in question by raising the number of successful investigations. However, some argue that one of the reasons torture endures is that torture does indeed work in some instance to extract information/confession, if those who are being tortured are indeed guilty and provide details of crime/plot only the guilty party could produce. Richard Posner, a highly influential judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, further argues that "If torture is the only means of obtaining the information necessary to prevent the detonation of a nuclear bomb in Times Square, torture should be used—and will be used—to obtain the information. ... no one who doubts that this is the case should be in a position of responsibility."[ Born ok 1st time.
  5. OK everybody freeze! you're all under arrest. stop your shooting and wait till your court date is here. Born ok 1st time.
  6. He isn't the official arbiter. Just someone with an opinon. thats what prison is. brutal. who are these "many" that are falsley imprisoned? I have read a few horrible cases, but I think this will happen when the enemy is not identifiable, unless they are shooting at you or blowing you up at that specific time. we are definitly vilified by our enemies, the rest of the world, not so much. africa likes us. 7. The practices and behavior of these fighters en masse in combat deny them privileges as lawful belligerents entitled to combatant's privilege. The article argues that al-Qaeda unlawful combatants are most appropriately described as hostes humani generis, "the common enemies of humankind." 8. How? You suggest that it is difficult to stop torturing prisoners. All it takes is a little self-control. You suggest it is difficult to run a civilized prison system instead of an abusive one. All it takes is a desire to put an end to abuse, instead of winking at it. Born ok 1st time.
  9. The rub seems to be in the question: "What is torture?" What I am certain torture is not: sleep deprivation, bad food, poor climate control, loud music/audio garbage...to name a few. The rest?? One thing I don't like about this argument though: one solution does not fit all individuals. I agree. "Imprisonment itself, even when relatively benign, is arguably a form of torture. This is implicit in our society using prison as the most dire legal form of both "punishment" and "deterrence," except for execution. Moreover, in the typical American prison, designed and run to maximize degradation, brutalization, and punishment, overt torture is the norm. Beatings, electric shock, prolonged exposure to heat and even immersion in scalding water, sodomy with riot batons, nightsticks, flashlights, and broom handles, shackled prisoners forced to lie in their own excrement for hours or even days, months of solitary confinement, rape and murder by guards or prisoners instructed by guards--all are everyday occurrences in the American prison system." The American Prison and the Normalization of Torture By H. Bruce Franklin should we stop it locally first and then worry about enemy? Born ok 1st time.
  10. dont have any credentials. no witnesses interviewed. only difference is their opinon was bought and paid for. mine is just my opinon. Born ok 1st time.
  11. you do? bipartisan sentae? no such thing Born ok 1st time.
  12. Actually you have it wrong as christ said " "You have heard that it was said to those of old,'You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.' But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool!' will be liable to the hell of fire." Theres a lot more there than just don't kill! In addition, In romans the 13:4 it says that the goverment is "an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.” There is more to it than just that but I won't go into detail but I think you have seen your initial assesment is incorrect. uhh..yup he is Born ok 1st time.
  13. key words: alleged estimated conclusion. not a proven fact in it. The CIA was granted permission to use rendition in a presidential directive signed by President Bill Clinton in 1995, and the practice has grown sharply since the September 11 terrorist attacks. The first well-known rendition case involved the Achille Lauro hijackers in 1985 Born ok 1st time.
  14. before you start throwin me under the bus, show me its not just a few isolated incidents. i don't want hear, well you it is they just covered it up. it gets out it always does. even the famous naked iraq prisoner pyramid. Born ok 1st time.
  15. i am definitely devils advocate here. i some how have ended up on the torturers side. torture is wrong period. no reasons for exceptions. my agruement is hopefully its rare occurrence. your arguement is, it is a common occurrence. do you have proof of this? not just the 1 or 2 horrific stories i have read. Born ok 1st time.
  16. we are torturing people to death. which is very wrong, probably very few are innocent. "U.S. Navy SEALs had apprehended al-Jamadi as a suspect in the October 27, 2003, bombing of Red Cross offices in Baghdad that killed 12 people. His role in the bombing, if any, is unknown. His status was that of a ghost prisoner, whose imprisonment and death would not normally have been included in official prison records." Born ok 1st time.
  17. yeah that evil bastard has deferred compensation from Halliburton under an arrangement he made in 1998, and also retains stock options. He has pledged to give after-tax proceeds of the stock options to charity. Born ok 1st time.

  19. read earlier threads. described in my post links in other peoples posts. the u.s. is guilty of pow mistreatments and killings. Born ok 1st time.
  20. bush haters, look for any and all stones to throw at him. even if those issues are something he or his administration are not responsible for. are there prisoner of war mistreatments? yes. i think the nature of the enemy, terrorists not prisoners of war from a specific country affect judgement on how to treat them. torture is still not right, but i don't think its as widespread as the dems try make it. i don't like republicans or democrats. both parties lie and back stab each other. the country needs additional party or parties. never happen because the dems and reps can raise so much money, another party has no chance. 21. i agree. its not right. our enemies can't fight us conventionaly, so they will continue to fly planes into buildings, strapping bombs to themselves and beheading us. there are military rules in place, for us and the prisoners we capture. are they followed all the time? no. are those people punished? not enough. how do we fix? pull out, so we can't kill and torture. then they will be the only ones doing wrong. killing us.
