  1. yes, most our out in Chester at skydive carolina. Someone did a jump over Donaldson a few weeks ago so there is no reason it couldn't come back.
  2. come on, surely someone knows of a rigger in the Oklahoma city area! Any help would be greatly appreciated since google didn't turn anything up
  3. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum. I just came out to OKC for a couple of months and my reserve date just lapsed. I'm looking for a rigger in OKC to inspect my reserve so that I can get back in the air.
  4. A couple of things. First: You can be a state resident of any state you want even if you have never set foot there. (I was an oregon resident and it's one of seven states I have never been to). In order to change your residency you are supposed to own property, carry a DL, or register a vehicle in that state. Technically you are supposed to be planning on retiring in that state, nobody really cares if you do, but that is why the rule is there. Second, the only you really need to be careful about is "the rule of three". the "three" is DL, vehicle registration, and insurance. At least two of the three must be from the same state, so you couldn't have Alaska registration, Utah insurance, and NCDL. Just something to be careful of. That is all! Hope you are enjoying Hill AFB (I assume)
  5. I loved it. I was arrogant enough when I went through 12 years ago that I actually studied and quoted the geneva conventions to my interogator. The second time I got interviewed I wouldn't say a word. Not one word! so the guy told me if I didn't open my mouth the next time he asked me a question then my friend was gonna get "stressed" so he asks me the question and I opened my mouth as wide as I could like I was at the dentist without making a peep. I think he had to try pretty hard not to laugh and stay in character because I honestly don't think he had ever seen that before. Congrats!
  6. I saw the thread today with Aiden in the pumpkin patch and thought to myself, "I think every parent has a picture of their kid in the pumpkin patch" so if you got 'em post 'em
  7. I'm a military radar controller so I don't know all of the specifics with the Boise tower pattern, however it sounds like the A-10's were doing what is known as a tactical overhead or a regular overhead. When aircraft are doing that maneuver they are VFR (see and avoid) and are being sequenced by the tower. The air carrier (Southwest) may have been doing some "S" turns in order to build some additional seperation in. In any case this would NOT have been a near miss simply because the Southwest plane was most likely the only IFR airplane. In air traffic you technically don't seperate VFR traffic from IFR traffic. Please note I am not familiar with Boise's operating procedure and this is a very simplistic explanation of what I think was going on.

  9. No CTO, just a radar facility rating. currently at an air national guard base in Michigan
  10. The reason I ask is because I've had my application in with the FAA for two months and was wondering how long it took before you were called for interview. Also wondered if anyone was at a tracon with openings so that I had a clue where I could possibly get hired on at.
  11. Any air traffic controllers from the southeast on here?
  12. South Carolina boy here. I jump at skydive Tecumseh, but it's a pretty long drive so I'm not there very often. Great bunch of people there though makes the trip worth it.
  13. it's supposed to be blocked on ALL military computer networks. Mostly I think due to bandwith issues. Most of the MWR computers aren't run on a true NIPRNET so you should be able to access it there. You could always do what I did. Go in together with some other people and buy your own system. 5 of us split a $3700 system ($800 air freight) for a whopping one meg connection. The speed sucked, but it was worth it just to use Skype to call my wife. We sold it to the incoming unit for a profit when we left. Just get in good with your S-6 guy and he can hook you up. If you want specifics where we bought our system you can PM me
  14. This is my first post after lurking for a while. I spent four months in Mississippi last year while deployed with the military and was fortunate enough to call GCS my home DZ while there. Dale was without a doubt one of the best reasons for being there. I never got to make a jump with him due to working on my A-license, but I loved watching him do Hop and Pop's while the rest of us road up to altitude. He was always smiling as he left the aircraft. I didn't know him well, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to say that I was fortunate to know him and the skydiving community has lost not only a great skydiver, but an even better person. Miss you Dale James Francis
