  1. Oh, and as an afterthought (actually this was supposed to be in my original post but better late than never)... I have a bunch of 2-way dive pools that we will be digging through to build the CaSL league pool so if anyone wants any of those PM me and I'll email them to you - most of the file sizes were too large to post here, but here are some examples... - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  2. There are a group of about 8+ or so of us at CSS that are interested in competing as well (just for fun). According to Dan Winkelstein (CaSL Director) each team will need to provide their own camera flyer since there isn't really a pool of VRW camera fliers out there...but we were thinking that we could put together several teams and play double duty on camera for each other. About half of us would only be able to compete in a head-up division, but the head-down and really advanced head-up fliers can sort of scramble some teams together for the more advanced and open classes (some mixed HU/HD and 2-way HD stuff). We're having our FF skills camp this saturday and will probably talk about it some more so I'll keep you updated! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  3. I found tons of stuff while searching for stuff for some freefly coaching/skills camp and 2-way VRW competitions in the NC area... I'll post the 2 and 3 way dive flows here, but many of the others are too big to attach so PM me and I'll email them to anyone who is interested! The 2 and 3 way dive pools are very very VERY gratefully borrowed from Dan Wayland. Blue ones! whit - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  4. Hi All - While the details for dive pools and divisions/classes aren't complete, I just wanted to get it out there that 2-way VRW is going to be added as an event in this years Carolina Skydiving League (CaSL) meet schedule. I don't know if these competitions will be on Saturday or Sundays but the meets are rotated between Carolina Sky Sports (Louisburg, NC - Raleigh Area), Raeford Parachute Center (Raeford, NC - home of "THE" tunnel) and Skydive Carolina (Chester, SC). I'll keep this updated when Dan lets me know more about the actual pools, etc, but for now, here is the schedule of the meets (which now include 4-way and 8-way rw as well as a swooping competition at 3 of the meets) Blue ones! Whit CaSL Schedule ----------------------------------- April 26/27 (Carolina Sky Sports) 4way on Sat, 8way on Sun May 30/Jun 1 (Skydive Carolina) 4way & Swooping on Sat, 8way Sun June 21/22 (Raeford) 4way Money Meet, 4way & Swooping on Sat July (Rain date or possible Paraclete Tunnel Meet) Aug 23/24 (Raeford) 4way & Swooping on Sat, 8way on Sun Sept 20/21 (Carolina Sky Sports) 4way Sat, 10 round optional - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  5. 2-way VRW is being added to this years Carolina Skydiving League (CaSL) meet schedule. Actual dive pools and class specifications are still being hammered out but I'll keep a post updated in the FF forum with the details. (and it looks like there well also be a "rookie"/head-up class, so that opens up the playing field for alot of us normally scared off by the advanced and open dive flows!) YAY - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  6. Just an offering - I found I had alot of luck going on a solo (with a TON of ground briefing about exit, good form, butt tight, transition from sit, etc.) just to get an idea for the feel of an orientation - then doing a 2 way where my "coach" took harness grips and provided small inputs to let me "feel vertical" as well as forward drive and backward drive. Then I took out another solo (instructions to try to feel neutral - and then push legs forward and backward slowly to feel what not-neutral felt like on my own...then back out with the "coach"....and so on, adding new techniques each time... I'm still learning a ton, and am nowhere near "good", but it seems I've had a more relaxed and comfortable progression than those people who have always done 2-ways with harness grips...you really do need to get a chance to "feel" it on your own or else it seems you're really on your back alot...(head being the only thing thats head-down) Just a thought - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  7. I'm Sorry!! :) I just recently got a more concrete answer on the big way stuff - looks like the Freefly Jive Jams are being resurrected, and with the large number of freefliers moving to the raeford area (thanks to the tunnel)...it looks like we'll be splitting time between CSS and Raeford - Harry Parrish is going to be putting together some advanced bigway and 4way vrw stuff and also some intermediate level stuff as well (looks like he's going to be asking the more advanced fliers to take at least one to two jumps off from each jive jam big jump to help out with some of the intermediate stuff). But I'll definitely post something is the Events & Places to Jump section about the google calendar, etc... It was awesome meeting you and penelope by the way! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  8. Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who posted or PM'd me with advice. We had our first event in late december and it was a huge hit! We had several new upjumpers from other dz's express interest especially since their dropzones didn't do anything like this for new freefliers. We've ready to go full force in 2008, and come april we're going to start having some intermediate and advanced big-ways so we all have alot to work on to start getting ready for those! Keep sending the advice and suggestions...and if you're in the NC area (or are going to be in 2008), give a yell and I'll give you a better schedule of events - hopefully we'll have a google calendar and message board up for the carolina freefliers so I'll try to post that here as well! Blue ones! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  9. I wanted to pass along a huge THANK YOU to everyone who turned out for the Freefly-for-all this past weekend - from the new folks we got to meet to the experienced pros who helped with ground coaching, videos and some fun ass 2-ways - you guys all rocked!!! The weather was amazing, and we were able to put together some pretty nice jumps for the mix of skill levels we had. We had several brand-newbie freaks come out and really make some serious progress on their sit, and Michelle and I were able to pull off our hd flower exit and even get in a dock (may not sound like much to some, but it was huge for us!!). We're going for round 2 during the 3rd weekend in January, and I'll be posting more info on that shortly...get ready to work those 90s some more if you're struggling with that sit, or for some tough 2-ways and some bigger ways for those ready to push themselves further! Blue Skies! whit - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  10. oh...and while i'll be ok with being ditched for the tunnel for the near future harry...we'd better see you out there when the weather warms up...how could we do this without one of our greats to help!! p.s i thought it was your weekend to do the blowing :) - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  11. yeah...sadly, its so small we were only able to funnel a 7-way round in there this weekend...oh well! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  12. We've had a bunch of replies and several questions so I thought I'd fill in some apparent holes... This "camp" is COMPLETELY free...we've got tons of people offering their time, experience and camera flying abilities to try and get everyone involved... This is for ALL levels...from those who haven't ever done a freefly jump to those who are already on their heads and for every skill level in between... We're all in this to learn from each other...to provide an environment where people feel free to ask for help or advice...and to bring together safe and fun freeflyers (and soon-to-be freeflyers)... And now (according to the recent weather reports)...we're coming out to celebrate some ever so slightly warmer weather!! WOOHOO!! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...

  14. THANKS TO ALL!!! I've gotten a couple of gnarly pics/video of how older gear goes bad on some freefly jumps and I just wanted to say thanks a ton! PLEASE keep sending anything you have out there...i just want people to actually see why having freefly friendly gear is so important!! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! Whit oh...feel free to email stuff directly to me since the size limit is pretty small on dz.com... [email protected] - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  15. I will put one aside out there, however. While we really appreciate the safety conscious attitudes of systems like that in the UK or Spain or others, we would really like to promote this safe freefly atmosphere without a formal licensing program. - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  16. We've looked at the British system and loved it so I can't wait to take a look at your stuff as well! Thanks so much for the suggestion!! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  17. Oh yeah! Another thing...if anyone has any good video, or links to good video showing non-freefly gear and the issues it might cause on ff jumps (flaps open, leg straps sliding up to the knees, etc) please point them my way... THANKS! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  18. Thanks Simon - good advice! And I saw your video (alot of which is at my dz...YAY, CSS seems famous all of a sudden!)...there were a few scenes that would be awesome for our ground stuff...would you mind? I'll PM you with more details CHEERS! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  19. This is why I love you Harry!!! Oh...and welcome back to the fire at 3 in the morning!! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  20. Nice...I actually really like the idea of having camps revolving specific freefly skills: one for back flying, a tracking camp, a sit camp, a hybrid camp, and maybe a headdown camp if we can get you more talented guys away from the tunnel! :) - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  21. Hiya all- A few of us at my dz are trying to (selfishly) drum up more interest in freeflying (so we can have more people to jump with), and we're tossing around several ideas to do so. We're of all different skill levels so we're trying to find a way that we can all keep getting better and keep bringing in new AND safe skydivers. So here is sortof our outline, and I'm coming here to get feedback, info and suggestions of any kind!! (1) Basically, we'd like to start with a "So you wanna freefly?" information session full of safety, gear, and advice for people interested in learning more about the discipline. (2)Then we're trying to follow it up with free coaching (thanks a ton to the experienced freeflyers at our dz and support from the dzo) on the weekends, (3) which can get people prepared for monthly organizing/skills camps (from 2-ways to big-ways depending on the skill levels of the jumpers) (4) and then hopefully some laid-back scrambles/meets starting summer next year (thinking of something similar to the dive flows in collegiates?) So I've come here to seek advice and any links to information any of you might have...we've been pouring over websites, not just US but from dz's and skydiving organizations all over the world to try and compile information about: -how others have designed their information sessions -coach jump progressions -dive flows to use for levels from newer head-up fliers to experienced head-down folks (in skills camps and in meets)... and any info on more places we can find this stuff or suggestions would be great! Blue Skies!! Whit
  22. talked to nancy on friday...40+ are in for bud's dinner and people keep calling... - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  23. The only NC dz open Wed-Thursday is in Raeford, NC, about 3 miles from the tunnel. Problem, the tunnel was supposed to open on Oct 15th but now its looking more like Oct 21, but if you can call and see, they are still selling the tunnel time at 750 an hour (a 25% discount). Otherwise, NC has 3 cessna dzs (coastal, adrenaline, and tradewinds) and 1 other turbine dz (css - where I jump), all of which are open Friday-Sunday. Talk to Bolas about Chester, however - its in South Carolina just south of the NC border and a great time and a turbine - don't know the days they are open however! Blue Skies! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
  24. Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that made it awesome to turn 29 again!! LOVE YOU ALL!! - ever the spazz Your work is to discover your world, and then with all your heart, give yourself to it...
