  1. What is psycho packing? Does that involve the help of jack nicholson?
  2. same here, I try stuff solo..nothing as fancy as head down btw, unless its by mistake heh. The more I jump the more I realise i dont know crap yet. I play around a bit in FF but for now I mainly focus on honing the skills that will keep my legs from breaking on landing and the EP drills. To bastichu: dont be so stupid as to think u cant post when
  3. beer beer woo woo had the same problem ...3 hrs of trying in the living room, same result. This weekend i passed my packing test (on f111 canopy) and after some tips from experienced packers (and them boycotting my rig from packing until i did it myself) i finally managed to get it in. (zero p) Jumped it..opened fine and the packed it again. Only took 40 mins and one t shirt full of sweat. Main thing is, as some other posters said, is to keep trying and use your knee to hold it down and one foot aside it so it cant go anywhere, then pit the other corner in the bag. For me it helped a lot just to relax, not get frustrated and take my time. Feels good the be self supporting now. good luck, bring a towel for the sweat ;P
  4. I feel your pain. Cant get it into the bag under 3 hours. LOL @ the plastic bag pack job ;P
  5. Ok, guess you are right. Re-read some post and..point taken.
  6. thumbs up then! I had lasek done and it took a whopping 20 secs per eye. The laser calculates the position of the eye so many time per second that you dont have to worry about looking away at the wrong time. Let us know how it went. It will be wierd seeing individual leeves on the trees w/o aid, instead of a green blur ;P
  7. I agree, thats why i fill out my profile so ppl can see im a newbie. I was simply giving a consideration, hence the IMO bit. It''s not like I advised him on what rig he should buy. ;P It''s not like I am a total moron and shouldn''t post any advice or thoughts just because I dont have a 3 digit jump number. (NB the not beeing a moron bit is a lie, but that has other causes) I get the thought behind your reply tho, I dont like it when ppl post advice on procedures and stuff when the are only just off student status themselves, I try to avoid doing that myself. (even though I have extensive experience ;P )
  8. hmm, just wondering if they make rigs that small ? my wife is expecting 2nd december, cant w8. Although I am happy with my 8 hrs of sleep atm most nights ;P
  9. lol, dude! you're even faster about thinking of buying your own gear than I am! I'd finish the course first, then rent a few times. I havent bought my own rig yet but have set my mind one one ;P. Just make sure your wingload isnt higher than 1.1, and it would be cost effective to get a rig that can fit the next downsize so you dont have to buy yet another rig at 100 jumps or so. My choice is probably gonna be a pilot 210 (im 225lbs incl rig). With an Icon I6 so i can go down to 170 if i want and when it is permissible for me. have fun
  10. Well, at the dz's where i looked up some info on pricing before i did aff, the AFF route is cheaper, IF u plan to continue in the sport. When u finish the SL course u still need to have a conversion course to jump AFF. So paying 2x. IMO AFF is a faster route if u are addicted from jump 1, like me. Unless you are really into canopy work ;P there's nothing like just diving out of an airplane and waving back at the ppl still in the door while you tumble ;P (yes, i can exit stable also, but thats not so much fun) have fun ;P
  11. hiya, dont worry too much. My instructors really helped me loosen up, and after that i never had any problems with the basics anymore. (heh "never had" sounds like it was ages ago. Im up to a whopping 21 jumps now ;P so i have extensive experience ;P) Have fun!

hmm, looks like he was coming in to land and the chute ruined it all...

    Speed!

hehe, its the self test when u turn the key to contact. ;P
  14. I found that the key word in AFF progress is = relax! I went from stiff as a board, grim face, heartbeat 200+ to solo in one day, after realising I was the only guy on board the plane NOT having fun. For my next jump after that (curled up rolling exit) I let out a loud "Yeeeehaaa" and let go of the stress. Later that day i had a perfect solo jump and enjoyed every second of it. Just remember, all AFF level exercises aside, if u jump....open...land without incident... thats all that is required at this stage. Have fun ;P
