OK, so I was running around town today taking care of business.As I am getting home Isee the mail truck down the road infront of my mailbox. So I stop and the mailman says "Hey you got a couple of magazines". Kewl, Skydiving & Parachutist havew arrived together. So I go to the livingroom and sit down to read them. But I got the munchies, so I go to the fridge and grab the bowl of hard boiled eggs. Well, I'm reading and shuckin' and munchin' and then I realize that I ate the whole bowl of eggs. I mean there was like 2 dozen eggs in this bowl. Now I have this fear that I may injure myself later this evening whan my ass starts to rattlin'... You got it!!! Being a Libertarian it irks me that we can not even put our team on the ballot for local elections. They have a rule that says your team had to be on the last ballot, or gather 3 times the number of signatures on a petition as a regitered D or R. Then the big 2 parties challenge our signatures until after the filing deadline for printing ballots effectivley blocking our participation in the political process. The law has nothing to do withpower. It is a glossy feel good peice of legislation that Democrats think make them look good. It does nothing to limit the power of a weapon. It does nothing to actually limit the capacity of a weapon as magazines are extremely abundant from the pre-ban era. Yes it is difficult to get magazines for new weapons but they are available for those who want to expend the effort. A folding stock does not make a weapon more powerful, a bayonet lug does not make a weapon more powerful. It is insane to even argue that this legislation protects anyone or makes society safer. Again, I guess my point is unclear to some. I am not talking about what was developed in the last dacade. I am talking about what was there from before. Every report filed by UN inspectors acknowledged that they could not account for what was already in place according to Iraqi authorities. I guess that those who do not want to acknowledge what had occurred for years prior will not, and I won't waste my time pointing out what seems to be common sense issues to me. The point is there are a lot of people who prefer to throw the term liar out there in reference to the pres. I am not a republican, but I took an oath many years ago that I still hold dear to my heart. I also was taught to respect people, especially those that hold that office. I do not agree with everything that has gone on. But on this subject I believe that people think it is easier for their agande to stick their head in the sand and ignore the FACTS. But I do not think that it is appropriate to use that term in reference to this subject. So until someone can prove that they are not there to call the pres a liar is unjustified. MY OPINION. My simplistic mind has to ask a simplistic question. It may take a second to get to it. FACT: Iraq had WMD. HE used them against the Iraians and the Kurds. They were there. We saw them in his militery parades. FACT: Not all of these weapons were accounted for to the UN. Not all were desatroyed. Not all had a complete paper trail. Fact: At the end of the first war Saddam began hiding these weapons. Acknowledged to be true by the UN. Question: Where are they now? I am not trying to be a smart ass here. Just trying to put somecommon sense into the discussion, as opposed to dissing the pres for political reasons. My point is that there is more money spent by our government (run by the big 2) on programs that the writers of the constitution never imagined than on defense, which the founders did sanction. These programs were develop to protect us (read save us from ourselves) according to the politicians. My point again is that I feel more confident in running my own life than letting the government do it. Why don't we all start pushing our representatives to truly start cutting the pork, on both sides of the ailse. Is it possible that the reason is we might lose some of it for ourselves. I have always earned my keep in the private sector, and through persevance will do so again. I believe in capitalism, "free markets, free minds" as they say. I do not believe that everything is as it is now just because of GWB. That is much to simplistic of an out for anyone to believe, especially for a man of your intelligence. I know that you know the inputs for these formulas that calculate all these statistics are much more complex than that. I would never argue pure physics with you, I would be out of my element. But on subjects of business and economics I think I could stand my own ground. Again I am sure that there are those out ther much better qualified than I, but it is a topic I have knowledge in. I simply make some points, which are valid. They are also accurate. I am sure someone will go and find some little web blurb to dispute most that I have to say. However, I have several shelves full of texts on economics, business math, business law, and management. I keep them for reference, but would be willing to lend them out to those that would make shallow arguments on these topics (not referring to you particuarly here). No, I understand to my own shallow depths the complexities involved with these issues. I also know that it took both of the major parties to get us to where we are today. My issue is that perhaps we should start to look at other alternatives, other parties ideas, rather than continue to follow the flock, right into the wolves den. Actually, I consider myself to be intelligent enough to forulate my own personal opinion about most issues. I am socially liberal, fiscally conservative, and a strict constitutionalist. Not a very popular sort in most political discussions. I enjoy being attacked by those who are simply willing to be led around with a ring in their nose by the drivel promoted by the big 2. It has made my skin thick over the years. Since you really seem to not want to acknowledge my original point, I win. None the less, I can respect your right to your opinion, you see no one can ever "win" a political argument. You will always no more than me, and I will always know more than you.
