Man, now that my headache is finally (mostly) gone, the five weeks I've spent on the ground have let the nerves come roaring back in. Ugh. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."

Yo Geek! My first freefall was possibly my favorite jump. I was pretty damn nervous on the ride up, but just before door time, my JM gave me a huge grin and said, "Freefall, man, this is what it's all about!" Although it sure seemed like the chute took forever to open, having been used to S/L openings, I clearly remember, as I was being pulled upright thinking, "More. I want more." :) Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."

Silly Macauly, thinking I'm not a one-time anime buff or something. You weren't around for the interminable skydiving-geek discussions. :) Anyhow... I honestly didn't feel that there was a lot of depth to the plot. Granted, it was probably well above and beyond what most people are used to, and I saw a lot of people walking out shaking their heads in confusion, but I chock that up to the fact that the film wasn't constant exposition, as is the norm, and, well, whuffos are dumb. "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."

Ok, absent may have been too strong a word. Yes, I managed to follow it, I just thought it was a little on the thin side. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Oh... Actually, me too..."

Establishing and enforcing terms of service is not censorship, and if you have to take the regretable step to keep this message board the enjoyable place it is, I appreciate you taking the time to do it. Yeah, I was just a little annoyed. I lost a beloved email account to spam, so I'm a little anal. I was really ticked when I got the email twice, but then I realized that I probably got the email at both of my email accounts, one of which forwards to the other. Pretty good, thanks for asking. I still feel a little off in some way, but I'm not in pain. I'm pretty frustrated with the whole situation, as I've been on the ground long enough now that I need to make yet another static line jump before getting back to freefall. None of the drugs I've gotten have helped the headache much, so I think I'm going to try a radical strategy of eating better and getting into shape. :) Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? Hey Folks, For those eagerly following the saga of my headache (see "Frustration") I thought I'd pop on with an update. Early this afternoon my head starting hurting intensely, so I went in to the ER. To make a very, very long story short, I ended up getting a CAT Scan and eventually having a spinal tap ("Right. This one here goes up to 11") to check for (!!) blood in the fluid. Shit, they thought I might have an aneurysm. It turns out that I don't have that, or the encephalitis they thought I might have, and that whatever the headache is, it's nothing dangerous. Still, it was a pretty damn scary day. Right now the morphine is making me just a little bit sleepy. Hopefully I'll be able to jump by this weekend. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Not much."

Yeah, but this headache is ten days old now... I've had lots of water in that time period. I've also had two perscriptions phoned in to the pharamcy that have done nothing. Ugh. Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Not much."

Argh! I really didn't want to bitch, but I'm just getting annoyed. I've had a headache of some sort for about 10 days now. The thing is, it's not immmensely-run-to-the-emergency-room painful, it's just persistent as hell. The problem is I've had a couple of flare ups, so I'm worried about jumping. I'd hate to be in freefall and suddenly have my head racked with immense pain to the point that finding the handle is difficult. Oh well, if I can't get an appointment to see the doctor soon (I've been trying for a week - bloody HMO) I'm going to say screw it. Just whining, don't mind me. I've seen a lot of discussion on how to determine wether or not someone is a whuffo. "Does one tandem make you not a whuffo?" etc... Well, to determine whether or not someone is a whuffo, we need to look at what a whuffo is: "Whuffo you jump?" The question that defines a whuffo. Therefore, a whuffo is someone who wonders why we jump. It's not nessecarily a non-jumper, it's just someone who doesn't "get it." If someone makes one tandem, and they understand, even if they never feel it again, they're not a whuffo. If someone quits after three or four jumps and doesn't understand why people think it's worth keep doing, they are a whuffo. If you no longer need to ask "whuffo you jump?," or if you've always known, you can't really be a whuffo, can you? :) Comments? Dan "Oh, you went to a movie this weekend? That's nice. Me? Not much."
