  5. I know, the point is that I am ex-military, but since I only did a 3 year term, 84 to 87, and did not see any action other that training in the field, I do not want, deserve nor expect any recognition from anyone, BUT, I do have the highest possible respect for those who did fight and especially those who gave their lives for us. 6. Even though I was hesitant at first because I didn't know if it would be appropriate or accepted, I stood at attention and I saluted! Say or think what you want, I am damn proud I did! I ain't apologizing to anyone!
  7. How was it "Cheesy"? Matt is a retired soldier who has a lot of real life experiences to share and based on what he said, it was pretty close to accurate, and I believe there's a couple others posting in this thread who are retirees or ex-military, AND based on the fact that they used real Seals, I have to ask, what was "Cheesy" about it?
  8. Ok, since you see it as a "Fake funeral" scene, and not based on a true story, would your opinion be different if it were REAL footage of a REAL funeral that was incorporated in to the movie? Even if the movie was mostly Hollywood created? I will say this, when that was happening, Not a single person had a problem with it! If they did, nobody said anything. And when the group congregated outside the theater, a bunch of the people who was coming out of the theater stopped to meet them and most thanked them for their service.
  9. Military funerals are not fiction. And anyone who has ever attended one for a friend or family member will likely get tears when they see one repeated in a movie. One should not make light of that response. If you don't respect it, it just means you haven't experienced it yet. If you're really lucky, maybe you'll never have to learn to cry at a movie funeral. I've been to three. I agree with every word you said! Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org
  10. your motives seem at odds with the act. I was being harsh, almost smart ass by saying it that way. Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org
  11. I was not sure what to do, so I didn't wanna be an asshole and not follow suit, but being that I was in the Army as well, and even though I only did a three year term, I still have that level of respect for anyone who is in the military and especially the one who gave their life for us!
  12. I didn't get to see that one at the theater, but I've seen it a few times on TV, but I will say that I had hear of that happening regularly at the theaters. This was the first time I had ever seen anything like this. I was almost like something you would see in a movie, but it happened in real life. Guess that brotherhood never diminishes.
  13. Where were you, and who were the people in the front rows? I was in the middle of the theater about half way up. The people in the front section were a bunch of military people and their families. A couple of them were active military, most were retirees, and some were ex-military.
  14. My Gf and I went last night to see the new movie "Act of Valor", and it was a great movie, perhaps one of the most powerful movies I've seen in a long time, but it was what happened at the movie that was more powerful and moving that ANYTHING I've ever seen at a movie. When we walked in, we noticed that the front section of the theater was full, but this didn't seem any different than any other movie we had been to, but, during the funeral scene at the end of the movie, most of the people in the front section stood up, stood at attention, and saluted as if they were actually part of the funeral, then as this scene progressed, I guess 15 or 20 others who were either active, retired or ex-military, including myself were standing and saluting, and sniffs could be heard as others were in tears. That was something I will probably never see again, as was honored to have been there for. It is undoubtedly the best and most powerful movie I've ever seen.
  15. Good man!!! Glad to see that you did your homework and educated yourself about what the scam is! BTW, Send a Thank You to your sister for her service! Refuse to Lose!!! Failure is NOT an option! 1800skyrideripoff.com Nashvilleskydiving.org
  16. There is a very REAL possibility that this DZ is a sLyride DZ since it is being ran by sLyride employees. Better choices would be either Skydive the Farm or Skydive East Tennessee. If you live closer to Nashville, Tullahoma or Cullman would be your better choices and if you are near Memphis or anywhere west of Nashville, you definitely should try West Tennessee Skydiving. The following are links that go DIRECTLY to their sites. Just remember, No matter what, NEVER deal with 1 800 Skyride, Sportations, AST Skydiving, ASC Skydiving, Thrill Planet, PRO Skydiving or any other middle man website! They are a scam that is ONLY designed to take your money! ONLY deal directly with the dropzone! www.skydivethefarm.com skydiveet.com www.tennskydive.com http://skydivekingair.com/ www.skydivealabama.com Refuse to Lose!!! 17. The only one like that one I've seen was posted here a couple of months ago that was two guys that did that, and I believe the video was in another language. You do know there is a video of him impacting a granite mountain, right? Actually, I didn't. I never really followed it that much but a friend emailed that one to me. Refuse to Lose!!! 20. Just to be 100% clear. My observation/criticism of hand-cam footage is generic. I have no idea if that person paid for the footage, but with that kind of footage it would be a disappointment to a client. Stick with an outside video - in my view. On the 'my pax is crazy' I guess our different viewpoints just reflect different cultures and backgrounds. Personally I find it mildly offensive. I think the only acceptable use of hand cam is to incorporate that footage in with the footage made by a separate cameraman to make it more like something that would be seen on TV with multiple camera angles. If I were to be a new Tandem customer, I would be insulted by a hand cam ONLY video, and I don't send my first jump referrals to certain DZ's that ONLY use hand cams. Refuse to Lose!!! 22. I hate to have to get in here and post any of these at all, and certainly not two in less than a week, but I just received confirmation that Frank Knapp Jr. passed away yesterday at his home in Nashville. I don't have any details yet about the cause, or arrangements, but I will post the info as I get it. I'm sure that several jumpers out there knew Frank on various levels. He was an accomplished pilot and skydiver and established one of the first skydiving Club's in Nashville in the late 60's and early 70's. I had the honor of doing several fun jumps and demo's with Frank as recent as a little over a year ago. That was also one of the most memorable jumps with Frank was a Demo we did into a race track and with his typical style, he landed dead center, but what made this particular jump so memorable was just after we all landed, the race track we jumped into tried to play the National Anthem, but the sound system went on the blink, so Frank grabbed the mic from the announcer and sang the National Anthem AND NAILED IT! And received a HUGE standing ovation!! Frank was also an accomplished Entertainer, Singer and Song Writer in Nashville. Frank also was an actor and was in several movies. Most recent were movies called "Madison" and another called "Furnace" and was a member of the Screen Actor's Guild. Frank's Mom and Dad were also accomplished pilots and his Dad's Pilot's license was signed by Orville Wright! His Mom went on a Tandem with Harry Rooks in 1995 at the age of 88! The Knapp family was very well known throughout the aviation community in Nashville. I'm sure that several of our senior jumpers have quite a few stories to share about their times with Frank. Post them if you like! Blue Skies Frank!!! You will be missed!!!!!
  23. This whole thread is describing some shit like them fuckers over at the sLyride DZ in Waverly does!
