  1. I don't care how early those LSPC guys get there. Last year, just before we left the airport, I yelled "place backs". Cya all in a few daze... Z
  2. No wonder it took me so long to get a rig. I thought somebody told me to "buy beer".
  3. I just want to clarify that those on the BASE Hotline are not "flaming". However, we are willing to learn. Is this the same Andrew who puked and passed out at in our camp at Couch Freaks??? Send me a PM. Kansas: There's is no place like home.
  4. Somebody say building? What kind of enginerd are ya? I'm structural. We also got an electrical and mechanical in da' KC jumping neighborhood. All we need is an architect and we'll be set for a sweet loft.
  5. This post really made me laugh. 16 jumps and only 1 year....how hard was it to break that record? Isn't there any rules for needing to have a "B" or for god sakes at least a "A" to jump at boogies anymore? Rule? Just need to show up with a good attitude.
  6. Any chance that someone could set up a video camera on a tripod to document the event? Be sure to get approval from the city hall folks first (no bootleg wanted).
  7. Don't be knocking Kansas. Blame Missouri. The following is my personal experience of these drop zones. I moved to KC from Iowa after I graduated college, back in 1995. I'm not an instructor and I don't make any income from skydiving. I classify myself as a funjumper. I show up, pay my ticket, make my jump, and go home. My first DZ stop was GKCSC in Independence, MO. I chose to jump there primarily of its location. The airport and facilities looked like they came from the movie set "Fandango". The facility was less than desirable, but the fleet of small cessnas made up for that by making my jumps really convenient. I could go out on a Saturday, knock out 4-5 jumps, and be home by the early afternoon for other stuff. I met some good people and made some great friends. Regarding rivalry with other drop zones (MRVS), I perceived from the funjumpers that most were indifferent about MRVS. The funjumpers were jumping at GKCSC primarily due to its location. There were some that disliked MRVS, and they were always very vocal about it. To be honest, I never really paid much attention to what they were bit'chn about; seemed like most of it was due to instructor vs. DZO relationships gone bad. I jumped at Independence for a couple of years; until the plane crash (R.I.P.) and the closure of the DZ. Next stop, Skydive Kansas in Osage, KS. Again, I chose this place due to its location. It was closer to my house than MRVS. This is a great DZ. Great owners, and good facilities. They are located southwest of the KC metro, more closer to the KU and Topeka crowd. This place is smooth and easy; like drinking a glass of warm milk. Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word.
  8. There is this really tall white xmas tree with these really cool red lights on it. The gifts under the tree have motion sensors on them. That's the experience I had when I went to visit some pals up there.
  9. It was all fun and games until the Zoomeeland Wheel-of-Misfortune became unfortunately misplaced. I should be able to type more when the braincells regenerate.
  10. Are we there yet???? Pic attached. (thanks to Leech)
  11. Leaving KC after work on Tuesday. After a few hours of driving, we'll stretch our legs out with a nice climb and flick. We'll probably be right behind LSPC waiting for the gates to open.
  12. Don't make me pull you over...(pic)
  13. Are you ready kids??? aye, aye Captain! I CAN'T HEAR YOU! AYE! AYE! CAPTAIN! Arg Maytees, Looking forward to another great Couch Freaks this year. I think this will mark the 12th year that Zoomeeland has soiled the grounds of the Ft. Dodge airport. Zoomeeland is proud to be the party host on Thursday night. We've got some activities to help keep the natives from getting restless... "The Wheel of Mis-Fortune": An opportunity to win many fabulous prizes (opportunity probably slim). If the sky-gods are in your favor, you could win a jump ticket! If you got bad karma on your back...well, you might find yourself drinking a beer off of your buddy's crack. Feeling lucky?? "Revenge of the Blister Brothers": Remember the Blister Sisters? Well, there was other spawn in their family too. We'll be introducing the Blister Brothers this year. They'll be serving various libations throughout the crowd, so keep an eye out for them. Oh, and in the event that one of them starts humping your leg for no apparent reason...just let him finish, its just easier that way. Video and Tunes: We'll be playing various videos on the wall, and mixing out tunes for all to enjoy. Get yer' groove on. "Fire Breathing shows": Paging Dr. Armstrong....please report to Zoomeeland....and bring your lighter. Everyone else...stand back. "Free beer": Teacher...mother...secret lover....mmmm beer. Hokey Pokey: You know what its all about. Now would be a good time to pick up some Nair. "Streak n' Slide": If you are drunk and naked, and you are looking for something to do. Just watch out for tent stakes. :) "Weenie Roast": If you are drunk and naked and cold and wet...stop by the Zoomeeland camp. We'll keep the torches lit and the fire on. And you know what's crazy about all of this?? Its only Thursday night! So let loose, lower your inhibitions, and have fun. Its Couch Freaks...what happens here, stays here! (unless you are really good and happen to get reported on NPR or Letterman) (yes, its true). I'll see all of you kiddies next week! Arg, Maytees! later, Zoom PS: "Thong Thursday". Obviuously a rumor. Since when have you known us to wear anything?
