  1. Billy, Dave, Jeff- you're making my point for me. i never condoned skyride's practice of putting up those domain names, but it is skyride. The farm consciously opted for that name on their own. Further, my point is not that skyride is clean or justified, or that ASC is not associated with them. I've addressed those dead points numerous times. My point is that a select group that jump at a competing DZ have righteously placed themselves at the forefront of this discussion, they are instigating all this turmoil. Quite comically, I am pointing out that they are just as guilty of supporting the same practices that they are fighting against! If i were an outsider visiting www.atlantaskydivingcenter.com I would assume I would be looking at atlanta skydiving center's homepage, while instead I am looking at the farm's. If I were to prepay for a jump, drive to a DZ I'd never been to, and saw a sign that said "SKYDIVING, turn XXX miles ahead" I would likely head that way. Could cause some confusion, especially amongst tandems. Again- the point is both parties are guilty, the funniest part is the crucified one is only guilty by association! The other is just yelling louder. That's all i got for now
  2. No, I know the relationship between the companies better than most, and have acknowledged as well as explained it on more than one occasion. Spence- I see the same things you do (edit to be more clear). I draw a different conclusion of which I know to be correct. That said, I still support ASC the dropzone because the dropzone, the staff, the fun jumpers, and equipment are all top notch. moving forward: ASC stands for Atlanta Skydiving Center, right? That's the dropzone that is physically located on the airport? The DZ that you all don't like for being owned by the same guy that owns skyride which is the company that has some shady business practices... correct? Now, knowing that ASC does stand for Atlanta Skydiving Center, which is the DZ in question... Imagine my surprise when I went to www.atlantaskydivingcenter.com and stumbled on STF's (skydive the farm) website. I don't see very many people upset that STF's website uses a competing DZ's name as a homepage, to the letter. No one complained about that sign i mentioned- giving directions away from one DZ's entrance (ASC) to another (the farm). It must be legal if the farm is doing it right? Just not when skyride does it I guess, which isn't even a freaking DZ. At least the people i know at ASC (the real Atlanta Skydiving Center) aren't hypocrites. With that, I will say I do not give two sh*ts about the way the farm is handling this situation, as long as it is legal, which so far it appears to be... So who cares? I like 95% of the peops at the farm, and 100% of the parties/boogies. BUT, if you act like an A-hole I'll explain why and point it out. My football coach used to say 'stand up for what is right, even if you're standing alone.' I think ASC, the DZ, is being unfairly attacked. I'll continue to publicly express why I feel that way. 4. Because I'm defending ASC you silly goose! Nothing illegal is happening there; well nothing that wasn't first purchased at the 'farmacy' anyway... but I think you were referring to illegal business practices. In 5 years of fun jumping at ASC, I have yet to see any of what you claim. I can't speak to before I ever jumped there, but since january '05 I haven't seen anything worth getting fired up over. I still think you have skyride confused with ASC. I know it is hard to distinguish between companies that have the same owner when you're really, really, really mad at one of em, but that's a personal problem that a lot of people seem to have. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  5. QuoteNo your well informed, you just choose to support illegal behaiver, making you culpable.Quote see, now you're just plain wrong/incorrect. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  6. Yup- because the sign is at ASC's exit, not the farm's... though I'm sure if ASC posted a sign at the farm's exit it would have made the evening news and to the courthouse. As I've mentioned, i like both DZs and would recommend jumping at both. There is, however, more 'fighting fire with fire' in this thing than the Johnny-Do-Gooders on this site will ever acknowledge or admit. But I guess I'm just an uninformed prick who lives 2,000 miles away, not fighting for the self-proclaimed righteous. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  7. Are you referring to something like buying a billboard at the ASC turn off that reads "SKYDIVE? ALMOST THERE..." followed by directions to another DZ up the road? That kind of deception? I mean it is legal so who cares right? As long as those ASC scumbags don't do it then everything is cool. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  8. Worth re-emphasizing. Look at the infrastructure of Haiti compared to northridge, CA: 7.0 vs. 6.8 they are fairly close in strength (granted 7.0 is roughly 32x stronger than 6.0) but the aftermath is not proportional to the increase in strength. 10. disagree, either make the jump and have a happy customer, dont make it and have the customer watch fun jumpers go at it and ultimately bitch that they were unfairly kept on the ground, or ask em if they dont mind jumping a little lower. I've seen all three occur at numerous DZs from coast to coast. were you there? who's to say the student didn't request to go? Looks like this guy was stoked enough to load it on the net to show off to his buddies, I'd consider that a successful tandem on all fronts. But hey, I'm not one to care about every detail of every skydive being perfect and cookie cutter (since that's soooo realistic), I'm content having a safe, fun jump. To me it looks like that's what happened, but who the hell am I? Clearly, to keyboard jockeys this video is a sign of the apocalypse. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  11. Are you guys serious? I just watched the video- they are jumping a cessna under cloud cover. If they were to climb above the clouds you would have flamed em for going through clouds like you all have already tried to do. All these threads should be moved to SC for how political they get, there is so much bias that every aspect of skydiving becomes wrong or illegal so long as the skydive is made at an ASxxx DZ. Weak. Happy holidays

I'll bet she made him wear her panties around all day long. +1, WTF kind of guys to you hook up with McSwerv? You a ladyboy hunter? So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

  15. interesting article in WSJ: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704304504574610660008372886.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLTopStories "Four U.S. civilian contractors working in Fallujah were ambushed and killed by al Qaeda. Their bodies were burned, then dragged through the streets. Two of the charred bodies were hung from the Euphrates Bridge and left dangling." "...Navy SEALs captured the mastermind of that attack..." "Three of the SEALS are now awaiting a courts-martial on charges ranging from assault to dereliction of duty..." There is a more moving story about the author's father who was in the Battle of the Bulge and witnessed some pretty bad stuff, and how we reacted in WWII. I think the author closes with an excellent point: "But when only one side follows these rules, they no longer elevate us. They create a very unlevel field and more than a little frustration." My dad has mentioned this sentiment quite a bit when he reflects on his 13 months as a Ranger in Pleiku in '65-'66. The article isn't too long, definitely worth the read. I have to agree with the idea that rules of war are important as long as logic and common sense aren't tossed out the window. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

  17. If you land south and opt for a dirt road between the main landing area and Peltier rd- be less afraid of the grape vines/stakes and more concerned with the size XXXXL Pteranodon hiding in the big tree there. It's ruthless... I've been told it was a large hawk that attacked me (and others recently), but i got a photo of it, see attached. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  18. I love how both sides use this argument when their "guy" is in office. I assume everyone stays because they care about the country and want to change it back to what they view is right politically. edit: sorry: what they view is CORRECT politically. So there I was... 19. First- you said perfect, that's funny. Glad you've convinced yourself of that RomCom cliche. Like JM said- she had cankles, or a fupa, or was really f*cking annoying in some respect somehow- hated your best friend, your dog, whatever. somewhere in there she sucks, find it and remember it. Second- stop being a pussy. Think with your head and/or your dick for a while til that becomes natural. Your heart doesnt have a head therefore no brain, so you can't listen to it. Your dick does and your head is a head, listen to em. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/e6faf388ce/show-me-your-genitals-2-emc-vagina-from-jon-lajoie "[You] don't have feelings cuz feelings are gay" So there I was... 20. I liked the movie, saw it 2 nights ago. Pitt's first scene took some getting used to but I adjusted to him as his character pretty quick. I liked the "dirty dozen on steroids" aspect, and the relationships between the characters was pretty witty and entertaining. The way they approached a hypothetical twist in WWII was pretty cool, though predicatble at times. Great dramady, definitely worth seeing. 9 outta 10 says I! So there I was... 21. The concern for my emotional stability is noted and appreciated. I still can't seem to get out of this damn straight jacket though, maybe a lil help with that? So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  22. Wow, even if tongue-in-cheek... wow. That's pretty pathetic, a couple million dollars vs. a few million lives and countless generations. Nice. You stay classy. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  23. Tanzania is south of the equator, though very close to it. I was there in July and August, very tolerable weather/climate
  24. Sorry for the bump- Went through some pics of about 3 years ago from my first trip through africa (inspired by the Kilimanjaro thread). I found a pic of the island I referred to in my first post here. Also to the OP, take a look at the second pic which is of the local market, note the main mode of transportation, the way of life, and living conditions. Step outside your reality and understand things are different in less developed countries... very different. Again, not to justify the law that is passed, but you may understand more fully why or how. these are from the southeastern corner of Uganda near Rwanda and D.R.C. So there I was... 25. Hola- Havent climbed it personally, we opted for a 5 day safari in tanzania due to money/time restrictions... I have some great pics though. One of my buddies i met up with in kampala has climbed it twice with his dad. He is a fit dude and said it wasnt easy. decent advice in the thread already, he said the main thing was to do lots of cardio training, especially in the 5 weeks before you make the climb. They have a few different tours that take varying lengths of time, i want to say 3-7 days. if you're concerned about reaching the summit, definitely take the longest option. Beautiful country out there... leave only footprints -Brett Edit: couple pics for ya
