  1. Why not a credit check? Do you think a bank would want to hire someone who has no credit or someone who recently declared bankruptcy? The same would apply for someone seeking employment as a cashier at Walmart. The people "rolling over and taking it", are the people who understand the seriousness of working to provide a livelihood for themselves and their families. They also understand that a good job is not a "right". They may even hate their job, but they will keep it until they can advance to something else better. 2. An employer has a right to know the background of the people he/she hires. Millions of dollars are spent on preventing theft by employees. Someone has to "watch the store", and that is an additional expense. Some of these employers have spent a lifetime building their businesses. Can you blame them for wanting to protect what is theirs? Once again, you are free to seek employment elsewhere. Nobody is violating anyone's rights. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  3. .......except the Russians and Americans. It's a shame so many are coming home broken physically and spiritually; all for nothing. Of course you Brits are taking it in the rear a second time. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  4. Everything has been just a continuation of WWII; only we get our asses kicked almost every time. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  5. It wasn't just insurance companies, it was the FAA, and the public demanded sober, drug free people in the cockpit. I saw a great change in behavior on the job because most realized that their job was more important than getting stoned or drunk. There was a distinct change with drug/alcohol testing. Of course some didn't and they were gone. This has nothing to do with "relinquishing our freedoms". It's about safety and being sober in the workplace, and an employer has a right to expect this. Someone flying a helicopter or operating an offshore crane can switch to operating a broom or shovel anytime. It's their choice. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  6. You really are too funny. As for the rest of the nonsense, watch this and then get back to me. It might shed a different light on where and how I formed my opinion. (Its also pretty interesting). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbAmu3DXk5c You guys wrote the book on torture and methods of execution for centuries, and now you are suddenly aware that some child rapist murderer (only an example) might suffer from a little mishap? Chopping their heads off the English way would alleviate this little problem. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  7. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2532127/Anger-Afghan-plan-release-88-Taliban-prisoners.html#ixzz2pCZoVkiz "30 per cent had participated in direct attacks that killed or wounded 60 U.S. and coalition troops." This is nothing new. Released Gitmo detainees have returned to the battlefield. This just makes it quicker. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  8. Warrant? If I remember right, it was a condition of employment. You knew ahead of time you were subject to drug and alcohol testing. It came with the job, and nobody complained about it. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  9. I took drug and breathalyzer tests as a pilot and so did the maintenance personnel. Once in a while someone tested positive and walked. I understood you could retest with an independent lab, but never heard of anyone choosing to do so. Sure, we were carrying the public, but so is Congress and the President. Drug testing should start with the top dogs. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  10. I thought about it but I felt, although they are related, this is a separate lawsuit. Besides, BHO has not declassified the 9/11 Report. Interesting, not much news about this. Yesterday? Today is the 20th. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  11. http://www.newsmaxworld.com/GlobalTalk/AME-AMERICAME-ASIA-ASIAX/2013/12/20/id/542956 " NEW YORK "Lawsuits claiming Saudi Arabia aided al-Qaida and should be held liable for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack were revived by a U.S. appeals court in a decision that allows victims and their families another chance to seek compensation from the kingdom." I wonder if this has something to do with the possibility that President Obama will declassify the entire 2002 report, "Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001". What happens next? Business as usual? Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.

  13. And some republicans believe that the worse the crime, the laxer the judicial process should be, because killing someone in revenge quickly is more important than finding the right person. But those are both fringe issues. There are far better arguments both for and against. Some citizens with no political affiliation feel a rope is cheaper than a lead slug, and it's like recycling, you can use it over and over again. 16. The bigger discussion here is what society wants from its criminal justice system. For the families, I completely understand the desire for death from a "closure" point of view, but that's never been what the criminal justice system was supposed to be about. It's not about providing "closure," and it shouldn't be about "revenge" either. The current death penalty system is expensive. Not because a vial of poison is expensive, but because of the lengthy appeals process. We could shorten that, but we'd also increase the incidents where an innocent man is put to death for no reason. It's a tough question and one worth study.I don't believe the death penalty is a deterrent either, but I feel that some liberals are more interested in saving the life of a mass murderer than even considering the impact on the victims family. I think that's wrong. Revenge is sweet; maybe a byproduct, but it's wrong. Expensive or not, "it should be about preventing similar acts from reoccurring", and executed people are never repeat offenders. It is no secret that murderers have been freed only to kill again, and people do escape from prison. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.

Some Indian newspapers published reports claiming that she was subjected to repeated cavity searches. The Indian national security adviser, Shivshankar Menon, has called such treatment despicable and barbaric." http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/17/politics/india-us-diplomat/index.html "(CNN) -- The prosecutor in the U.S. government's case against an Indian diplomat charged in New York with visa fraud related to her treatment of her housekeeper expressed dismay Wednesday over the direction the case has taken. 'There has been much misinformation and factual inaccuracy.." Misinformation, inaccuracy? OK. Wonder if the authorities would handle this a little different next time. 18. Gitmo, and weld their shackles to the wall? Nah, final closure to the victim's families is a plus, but the fact that dead people never get out of prison to commit more murder is a bigger plus. There will always the "broken wing" Donnas of this world. She should switch to saving wolves or whales. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
  19. Ron has probably been paying into the Social Security Fund before he left high school. Why shouldn't he draw it? If given a choice, I'm sure he could have wisely invested it elsewhere, but the fund has been robbed since Lyndon Baines Johnson was President. Yep, it's forced socialism, redistribution of wealth, or whatever you want to call it. I want my unemployment insurance back and all my Medicare I paid in. I planned my future without socialism. How about you? Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.

  22. Wow - the comments on that second link rise to a whole new level of stupid. Apparently 9/11 was Obamas fault. That aside, its a bit difficult to draw any conclusions without seeing the actual pages.Stupid?.....and 9/11 was Obama's fault? Maybe BHO will never authorize the document to be declassified. After all, Bush and BHO have been buddies for years? Right? I don't think so. Benjamin Franklin quote - "We must hang together, gentlemen...else, we shall most assuredly hang separately."
