1. doing that is not an option in HI either but good on ya for spreading false info with nothing to back it up. Isn't there another thread somewhere about rigs where you are blasting somebody for posting information with nothing to back it up? hmmmm...
2. HAHA that's funny! Where the hell did you come up with that # ? Most of the instructers out there (HI) struggle just to pay rent! That's a whole lot of jumps at the $20 a jump that they pay! 4000 jumps a year I believe, good luck with that. Can I live in your dream world?
3. WOW! How's that half empty glass workin' out for you people? There was a time in recent history that people laughed at those who believed we could acheive flight at all. Now we are all skydivers and we are blasting on people attempting to progress to the next level. They may very well die trying just as many many pilots and skydivers in the past have passed while developing technology that we take for granted today. We can put people on the moon and we have humans living in space for months at a time but you say that it is impossible to land a wingsuit? sad, sad, sad. It will happen.
4. You suck I love my mirage's !!!! best rig on the market! period! Wings are for dorks, losers, and posers!
5. If this is the case then get a new canopy. Sabre 1's are known for SLAMMING you once in a while no matter how well you pack it. I have a friend who broke her back on an opening with a sabre 1 long long ago. They had all been good openings up till that one. good luck. roll the shit out of that thing!
6. joke. sarcasm. pointless post to add nothing to an inane internet "discussion" going on.
7. what if the "observer" pushed the "sport parachutist" from the door? What if the "observer" was there as emotional support for a certain jumper? Would yelling positive encouragement in the airplane be considered participation??? might be.... what kind of beer are we talking about here?
8. uhhh.... wat r we talking about ??? i'm really fucked up right now!! oh! gotta go jump. hahahahaha
9. And the overhead of the videographers equipment. (unless the DZO provides camera people with parachutes/camera/repacks/linesets/etc etc etc) I've calculated a videographers overhead to be anywhere from $6-$10 per jump depending on what gear they are using. THAT IS HOW MUCH EVERY SINGLE JUMP COSTS A VIDEOGRAPHER. It should be the videographers choice and not the dzo's demand.
10. good idea! happy friday people. Go skydiving now and enjoy your weekend! out.
11. berth [ burth ] noun (plural berths) Definition: 1. bed on ship or train: a bed, usually built-in, on a ship or a train I would say that a bench in a jump plane would be defined as a berth.
12. Just as Bill was saying, alot of jump planes that I have been in have had seats of some sort. My home DZ has a caravan and the observers always sit in the right seat with a pilot rig on. A bench with seatbelts would strike me by definition as a seat as well (your off the floor right?) why? That is exactly how law works: the law is open to any interpretation that stays within the general guidelines set forth by said law. That is until a specific case goes to court and a judge/jury defines what the exact definition of a "seat" is through the outcome of the case then this (and only this) will set a precedent to follow in all future cases (unless the definition of SEAT is precisely defined in the original FAR) and WHAT THE HELL IS THE DEAL WITH SKYDIVERS WANTING MORE RULES AND MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL????? The very nature of skydiving is a celebration of freedom! What would our "skydiving forefathers" (and mothers) have to say about this? Guaranteed they'd all be BASE Jumpers. sad...
13. DOLPHINS SUCK. You get what you pay for. Will they work as advertised? - ie. open? yes, just as well as any other rig I suppose. However, the material is extremely thin and will wear out quickly, they are COMPLETELY unsecure unless you are on your belly for the entire jump. How many people going through AFF nowadays plan to stay on their belly throughout the lifetime of a new rig? I'd venture to guess.... NONE OF THEM. If you are buying a dolphin cause you are an old guy who comes out once a month to do a 2-way belly jump then great, a dolphin may work for you. If you are a young guy going through AFF dreaming about Freeflying etc. then buying a dolphin "because it is cheap" is a HUGE mistake and will inevitably be a bad situation when you start sitflying in it, which you know you will. Get a Mirage or an Infinity even a javelin fer chrissakes but stay away from the dolphin! I mean... It IS only your life right? Should you settle for something NOW becuase it's cheap? Or should you wait until you can afford the best rig out there? I guarantee you won't be thinking about the "Great Costumer Service" that you received from the company while you are in the middle of experiencing a premature opening @180mph while freeflying with your friends. DOLPHINS SUCK!!
14. where did you get that? Aerial photography with no door on an aircraft is something that takes place every day all over the US. I believe that the actual reg is if there is no door you need to be wearing a parachute.
15. Tandem students laugh at the same prop comment. Yet they are there near the airplane UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION just as ANY first timer should be whether they are a tandem student, S/L, AFF, Observer! First time AFF students are also FULLY SUPERVISED near the airplane even though they have been (hopefully) completely educated by the the time they get there. YEA? HOW SO?
16. STAY AWAY FROM THE DOLPHIN !!!! They are CRAP. If it means waiting a bit longer then so be it. at least you won't be stuck jumping a dolphin. (I had to say it since no one else did) me - 150 jumps or so until I had my own gear. But i was a 18yr old DZ rat livin in a tent and editing vids. Somehow was always able to find something to jump in that time. MAN it was nice to eventually get that Brand-New Mirage in the mail. :-) I remember looking at my wallet and crying too. lol I almost think that waiting a bit longer is better because that first rig of mine I was jumping for at least the next 4500 jumps (with new mains here and there of course) If I had spent money on a rig at 30 jumps I would have been looking for another one within a couple hundred. it'll come...
17. um... I think he got pretty good advice online: -make your approach in full flight. not half brakes Save that "coaching" money for jump tix
18. I made a BASE Jump this morning. Went off of a new exit point and I officially named it "The Herb". We toasted him in a manner he would appreciate before exit. !!! I yelled obnoxiously the whole way down just for him. Later Herb.
19. Herb you obnoxious fucker!!! I'll miss your drunken annoying late night messages on my phone. Thanks for being so hard to not like RIP brother! CHOPSAWWWW!!!!!
20. Why do skydivers tolerate that?*** here you go: http://www.para-concepts.com/RiggingCourse/
21. Yes, prices have gone up here. If you don't like it then pack your own f'ing reserve you whiney bitch
22. >>"how much height do you lose in your opening sequence?"
23. On the north shore of Oahu there are 2 dropzones at the same airfield. Skydive Hawaii flying a grand caravan and Pacific Intl. flying a Pac-750. THey are both right next to each-other and share the same LZ. Skydive Hawaii is open all day every day and Pacific generally closes by noon. There are a few experienced jumpers hanging out at both drop zones Some are loyal to one or the other and some drift back and forth between the two. There is a small clubhouse in between and alot of jumpers hang out there. It's WINDY always, and there are mountains one one side of the DZ and HUGE surf on the other. Skills are good if you get what i'm saying:-) I work at Skydive Hawaii so I am bias and think we are way better than the competition but judge for yourself... have fun! aloha
