  1. not trying to start a vigil v. cypres debate, i know thats going on in other forums, but is that true? also seems an rsl might have been a plan... Correct. A RSL could have been one of the possibilities. It is the jumpers decision to use it or not (in some cases the DZ rep or following the national rules) Vigil is active till "ground zero" is reached. It is an opportunity they have chosen for. That means that - in function of the selected mode, STUDENT, PRO or TANDEM - when the falling speed (or superior) is reached at the corresponding altitude (or below) the cutter will fire. To prevent premature firings, after a cut-away at low(er) altitude, VIGIL needs a few measurements exceeding this falling speed as a confirmation (VIGIL® takes in consideration the speed variation during the free fall and recalculates every 1/8 of a second the time left to reach the activation altitude) So far VIGIL did what it was supposed to do
  2. Right now, I know of three broken Vigil displays. Anymore broken units out there? Do you suspect another contributing factor? Please the name of the dropzone, date of incident, name of owner and serial number of VIGIL and we will ask VIGIL to confirm this with their comments
  3. EDIT: it is possible to offset the Vigil to -6000. Correct. YES it is Refer to the manual www.vigil.aero/pdf/Eng_000.pdf Page 13 / 14
  4. Actually you can only download your jumpdata via the infra-red download box connected to your computer via a USB port and the necessary software See your dealer for more details
  5. Is it banned or not ? ? ? Is it allowed or not ? ? ? Are we joking, playing or are we serious ? ? Don't forget.....An AAD is a live saving device. So stop all this bullshit please Competition, monopoly, negative reports, etc... OK it is a must and a 2K phenomenon But there are only a few manufactures of electronic AAD's, don't forget it. Please let's try to work together to develop RELIABLE - COMPETITIVE - USER DEFINED & FRIENDLY devices At the end the skydiver will be the winner There is place enough for more than ONE manufacturer. Competition is a must And be sure they will develop it for us
  6. Quotehi, good to know i'm not the only one. have been doing some more reading of these previous posts (and recent ones)... i find it very curious to see that on dropzone.com this 'william' is always answering the questions and remarks, but there is no 'william' mentioned on the argus' site! how come? you would expect that anyone who brings out something new on a market would be proud enough to make themselves known... *** It is my belief that "Indiana", "Trojan Horse", .... , and "William" are rolled into one. It is Karel Goorts from www.argus-aad.com speaking.
  7. OK, that's WIM ! ! ! But didn't knew he has a twin brother ? ? ?
  8. Hi Karel, Visited your website: http://www.argus-aad.com/ Updated, May, 1st, 2005, as you promised before. Has Wim Kauffmann ondergone a face-lift ??? I don't really know (?!?) who's picture it is but be sure I know it is "NOT" "WIM" Secondly I also know he (the real WIM) has a lot of experience and he is involved in military "SPORT" envirement. I agree for that and it is completely correct. But, .......He is certainly NOT actively involved in the military operational free-fall, VHA (HAHO, HALO) , HA, etc.... "Evangeliasation" of the military is certainly NOT his business. Sorry, but your information is NOT correct
  9. As "firstime" said, there are tons of posts on this subject. Visit the website : www.vigil.aero And/or search in "Forum" for "VIGIL" I used a "cypres1" from 1992 to 2004 Had to be replaced after 12 years Since then I'm using VIGIL NO regrets
  10. ***Must be crazy to become an evaluator*** Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Sorry, Completely correct
  11. Well,....... nice website , ha,ha Can you show us what is IN the box Or is it the same bullshit as .... "COMING SOON" (see FAQ & LINKS) Must be crazy to become an evaluator
  12. *** FYI I jump one of the Argus prototypes. William ----------------------- A real one in your rig or a theoretical one in your pocket ??? How is it looking like ???? Your website doesn't let out a secret !!!!!!!!
  13. *** The features they liked where; versatility (1 unit can be used in 3 different modes), Lower maintanence cost Less batteries used over a 48 month period Lower initial cost (about a $250 difference in the US) Compatability with all current Eurpoeanand US rigs (Yes, just like the cypress) Thank You, Matt Hi Matt, Yes indeed, I agree - Multimode (3 in 1) - Cost effective (overall cost in 12 years) - lower initial cost - lower maintenance cost in 12 years lifespan ==> batteries, cutters, etc... - compatibility with - current european rigs - current US rigs - waterproof in a couple of months (as they told me) Redknight
  14. Germany federation did disallow the use of the Vigil last fall. They claimed that the Vigil had a potentiometer (a dial inside the unit that allows settings to be changed – which the first TEST units did have, of course. It’s very common for test equipment to have such a dial but no production Vigil has ever had one.) The ban was lifted the same week when the owner of Belgium brought the Vigil for the DFV for inspection (like our FAA I suppose). They found not one issue with the Vigil and reinstated approval the next day. You guys would not believe some of the politics behind skydiving. ~Kim Griffin Vigil USA DeLand Fla Quote You are completely right Kim Hey you all Remember post #187 , Oct 22, 2004 from 4XTTTOM For convenience in attachment Redknight
