  2. I also loosen my chest after deployment. I do it after I collapse the slider but before I unstow the brakes. After all of this discussion I am going to change my sequence. I am going to unstow the breakes then loosen my chest strap. One of the reasons I started to loosen my chest strap was for comfort and I noticed that I got much better harness input. But the biggest reason was that one of the very experienced guys came up to me and could tell by the shape of my canopy that I wasn't loosening my chest strap. As soon as I did that my landings got so much better. It seemed liked the canopy came alive. Having the chest strap tight put the canopy in such a form that it was almost like flying with a small degree of brakes. Although with the chest strap tight the caopy was almost bowed and therefore wasn't at the correct shape intended by the manufacturer. I am by no means an expert and all I am conveying is my experience with loosening the strap. Also, I would like to thank skymama for starting this thread and to everyone that has given your opinion and why. It has made a difference for me. 3. Well if you root for anyone but the Red Sox or Phillies then you are rooting for second place (at least on paper). If the phillies don't win the world series it will be an upset. That pitching staff is unbelievable. BTW I am a Red Sox fan but I am a realistic fan. We have the line up to score some runs and the pitching staff looks good this year but nothing compared to the Phillies. Still when all is said and done they still have to play the games. 8. I think I will give i a try. I have never played on line poker before. I guess I can afford to lose $10.00 Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  9. Hey! Screw that fisting shit! I'm a DPH (-2) and ain't nobody fisting me unless they want their ass kicked. I will gladly do the fisting. I'm into giving not receiving. I think the new female inductees have to give the male members a lap dance or two or three. How about a lap dance contest Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  10. I live in Virginia and the state just deregulated (to a certain degree) natural gas service. I get a letter today from IGS Energy asking if i want to buy my gas from them. They are telling me that the going rate of my current provider is 68.2 cents per CCF. They are offering a fixed rate for 6 months at 63 cents per CCF. Does anyone have any experience with this type of offer or payment structure? How do I know I am not getting ripped off or screwing myself in the long run? I understand the rate may adjust every 3 months with my current provider. I guess I have to decide if I think the price of gas is going to go below 63 cents in the next 6 months. Opinions, thoughts, advice and any plain old rude comments are welcomed. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  11. A few months back we hired a balloon for the entire weekend. We did loads friday evening, Saturday and Sunday - morning and evening. We had a total of about 40 slots. All were taken very quickly. The price per slot was $80.00 and we did right a my friends farm. Took off from his farm and exited the ballon a couple farms over from his. In speaking with the pilot. The price he charged for jumping versus the tourist ride was completely different. It sounds to me like you got the tourist fun ride price. I wouldn't expect to pay more than $80.00 for a slot. 12. Yes you are right. It was never an option to begin with. There are much better places but as far as I know the search continues. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  13. Yes we can still skydive we just won't have a hangar. It is impossible to run that operation without a hangar. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  14. There was an AA meeting tonight. There was a good turnout with some of the local business owners coming to the meeting to support us. But it was not to be. It's official per the facebook page. We have to be out by the end of the year. Last I heard Jim is still looking for a suitable location. We will rise again somewhere. Just don't know where yet. I'm really gonna miss The Point. A sunset high pull canopy ride over the town and the rivers was a phenomenal view and a great experience. I will always have those memories. 15. We are currently seeking a new home. Jim has looked at a few airports in the area. Nothing solid as of yet. It is probably going to be a little while until we can find a place to call home. I believe you will see WP jumpers at Orange, Suffolk and Delmarva until we find a home. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  16. So sorry for your loss. It never is easy to let go no matter what. Glad she is no longer suffering. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  17. OK Thanks. I am with you on the wing loading and similar canopies. I wondering more about people's experience flying the different canopies. Why would someone prefer one over the other. Thank for the inofrmation. I am learning all the time abd that was very helpful. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  18. I am concolidating a thread I started in another forum. So if some you guys here have already read this I apologize. I just thought this would be the better place to get my questions answered. OK here is the long and the short of it. I am intersted in doing some "casual" CRW. I currently fly a Sabre2 190 with an exit weight of 235lbs. I plan on doing a couple of CRW jumps a weekend. Deepending on my schedule. I want a canopy that I can use while I fly tandem video and my regular free fly jumps as well as hop pops. I would say that I would be doing CRW 2 of every 20 jumps. I have read all of the manufacturer's specs for both canopies. I am looking to see what the experienced people have to say. Size wise I am looking at the Tri Hybrid 160 or The storm Hybrid 170. What do you guys think about the size? Is there any reason why I wouldn't want the Storm "casual crew kit" full time. They offer it installed or sold separately. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't get it already on the canopy. What are the opinions? I definitely want to hear pros and cons of both from all parties. I understand I have alot to learn about CRW but I want to at least take baby steps in getting involved. It may lead to greater involvement in the future but can't say for sure. Thank you in advance to everyone for your help in answering my questions. It is greatly appreciated. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  19. OK thanks for the input guys. I am now changing gears and looking at the PD Storm which comes with a "casual CRW Kit" The kit can be installed by PD or sent separately. Non Cascading A & B Dacron lines. Anybody have experience with the Storm. Based on what I have reserached it would seem the Storm needs serious consideration. 20. I agree matt. It is not an access issue so not sure what USPA can do if anything. I will say one thing in talking to Jim this past weekend. When they told him he could stay but not have use of the hangar, Jim stated to the AA that he would have to move because he needs the hangar to operate the business. Jim said the AA was taken back abit and was not expecting that response. Right at this moment things do not look good but given the amount of interest this generating within West Point I am hopeful that this will all be resolved before the end of the year. 21. Thanks Andy. We are alresdy doing this. We are notifying the one local hotel we put people in every weekend along with the resturants and local merchants we use on a weekly basis. We are estimating the local economic impact to be anywhere from $500K - 1 million per year. This inlcudes our fuel costs along with the people we bring in from out of state for our boogies which hold 4 times a year. West Point is a small town and there is not alot of places generating the kind of income and taxes we provide to the town and the county. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  22. None that I am aware of at this time but since the DZO Jim Crouch is safety director for USPA I would imagine if they can help they will. My understanding is that USPA will only assist with airport access issues. I am not 100% sure about this. if someone knows different then please by all means chime in. This is not an access issue. They say we can still jump there but just not have a hangar. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  23. Sorry, i should have been more specific with the details. I didn't want the original post be too long and I was trying to give a the cliff notes version. On another note we have started to email town and county officials in hopes of enlisting their help. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
  24. Thanks Lucky. I was just about to do it. But i was probably going to do it wrong. Rodriguez Brother #1626 Dudiest Skydiver #1962 DPH #-2
