  1. In one or 2 of the photos I've seen everybody is relatively close to the slot they are supposed to be in, no one is in anothers "slot". However they are not "grid" perfect. A small difference in semmantics...One that I'm sure will take a while for us to determine as you said. By the way, thanks to everybody! Great flying with you all! Ren
  2. I was refering more to what went on at the event. But it was meant in jest,(other post has been edited) it was challenging flying and the s-fliers did a great job. and as he said people in big suits almost sunk out as well. There were so many people w/ different suits and body types, the few times we did have a faster horizontal speed many people had trouble reaching the formation and then staying w/ it.
  3. If you and your wingsuit can only fly well in a small vertical/horizontal speed range, deal w/ it! Either get a suit that actually has a broad range, or learn to fly the one you have better. Quite your whining, and as you say "fly your body"
  4. Demo as many suits as you can. Because everyone one has a different body shape, weight etc. each suit has it's own standard characteristics, but some will be easier for to use depending on your own variables.
  5. Those are valid points... However, most do not pay for health insurance outright, they do pay through higher taxes, true. Yet they do not have co-pay,or deductibles, pre-existing conditions. And every citizen is covered, and businesses are not responsible for providing health insurance to their employee's. Over 45 million Americans are not covered, and most insurance has co-pay and deductibles. As you all know, the cheaper the insurance the higher the deductible. As well as pre-existing conditions not being covered and a host of other things that must be paid for out of pocket. life expectancy is definetly affected by our lack of exercise, but is also affected by people waiting to last minute to go to the doctor because they can't afford it. The figures for infant mortality are Calculated by WHO as # of deaths per thousand births. Indeed correlation does not imply casualty, yet it is hard to rule out...
  6. I never said the state is the only way to improve "one's lot in life" . Next time you need to call the police, fire dep., or send your kids to public school. Think about who's money your taking without their permission and then write every tax payer in the country a check, since your so accountable for you self... Oh why don't you pay to build your own highway while your at it.
  7. Ok, how about Canada, Great Britain, Australia, France, Germany... ALL other major industrialized nations provide nationalized health care. Most with no cost sharing. The US ranks below all the other industrialized countries in Life expectancy, infant mortality, equal access to health care. The life expectancy for Americans has been dropping since the 80's. It also has the largest diparity of health care between rich and poor.
  8. Yes, now that you worked your ass off and don't have to pick tabacco, why would you want to make where you came from better? So those poor white kids have a better education, better medical care, can go to museums, and have more money to go to college. Yes, contributing tax dollars from wealthy individuals to help poor areas improve schools, hospitals ,libraries etc. "Wealth redistrubution" as you call it,is a horible idea...
  9. If Obama's tax plan didn't give me a tax cut 8 times greater than that of Mccains. But I would pay more taxes in a second to keep right wing religous bigots like Palin out of office. If Mccain didn't support a war that had no basis except lies, that has cost this country over 4 thousand people, over a trillion dollars and over 50% of the Iraqi population dead, wounded,or displaced. If Republicans supported funding education as much as the Pentagon. If the Republicans considered health care a right, and not a privilage for the wealthy.Health care is not a commodity. Making a profit from the sick, dying, and disabled is disgusting. If this country didn't spend more on defense than the rest of the world combined, we could damn well afford it.
  10. "I guess we could have a whole argument on why you think Russia wasn't bad and evil." My point isn't that Russia didn't do evil things, it most certainly did. It's that since you were a child you've been taught that Russia is evil, so you believe it, just the same as some Russians believe that America is evil. It's propaganda on both sides. America has as much blood on it's hands as Russia. In much of the world this country has been incredibly oppressive, supporting dictators and death squads when it suits the economic interests of people with influence. Our respective governments justify horrible things because our intentions are good and the "others" are evil.
  11. "the comunists made their children learn that America was bad and evil. to this day the muslims do the same." "the Capitalists made their children learn that Russia was bad and evil. to this day the Christians do the same to the muslims." seems strangely familiar...
  12. Hhhmmm and you say that Obama keeps bad company? Let's take a look at who is standing beside Mccain and the Republicans... HERE And speaking of Mccains involvement in the Iran-Contra affair, the 700 Club had large hand in the funding of those right-wing death squads...
  13. hard not to be, when you see how much money the arms industry is making while the rest of the country is falling apart, and generations to come will be paying the bills from this war.
  14. Check out this documentary. Long but interesting... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9219858826421983682&ei=Beb0SJurLJXeqAO3l5gC&q=why+we+fight Could someone please clickify it?
  15. the forest is too thick for you to see the trees, many birds with incredible l/d flock. look a little further...
  16. Didn't take it that way man. Just including myself in my own joke. And if you forget to take a clamp off your pc, hopefully you haven't passed on any of those gene's before you go in...
  17. oh and by the way, wasn't saying anything about my own skills. I might go in any day now, and no kids, so my own inferior genes won't be passed along.
  18. Start wingsuit base jumping before you have a family. It is dangerous, plain and simple. Think of it as survival of the fittest. If you survive long enough to procreate, great. If you don't, you won't pass on your inferior wingsuiting skills to the next generation of cliff swoopers....
  19. Next time I'll be sure to hit you harder, make sure your out of the formation for good...
  20. sweet, thats what I was thinking, Lightly weighted banners/tubes. enough to create a 60 mph fall rate maybe? how about different classes for different speeds. It could be like a downhill course. A lead plane could lay the course and jumpers could follow out of a second?
  21. I'm not saying less atmosphere=less velocity. Your velocity in relation to the air is the same; same amount of air molecules flowing over wing. Velocity in relation to the ground is greater. Stall speed is higher in relation to ground speed. When you are flying the relative wind hitting your face will feel the same no matter what altitude, It's when we look at the ground that we feel we are going faster, and we are in relation to our movement over it.
  22. your airspeed is the same, ground speed is what increases.
