    IL Trailers

Hey all! Anyone in IL (or close to in the Midwest) have any decent trailers for sale?? I'm looking for a new DZ home and most of the stuff I'm finding at the dealerships are waaayyy too pricey for something new. thanks! Tory
  2. I agree to that. And I also agree to the above poster about refunding tickets. It should be policy everywhere that any skydiver can refund his or her tickets.
  3. Yeah, I got carried away with ranting. I appologize. I love my job, I love skydivers and so many people kick Manifest. I know that's just how life is. I understand that. At my dz we do work hard to try and make sure that #1, safety happens. #2 we keep out skydivers happy. #2 skydivers at our facility are safe and happy. Yes I ranted but it is very tiring of Manifesters being ragged on. My thing is, they asked him a question. I don't know if they were rude or not, or if he just took it as rude. Or was offeneded because someone would even ask him that, and percieved it as rude. Being as I've been in this situation before, having to ask questions, I understand both sides. I just did not like his attitutde. Seriously, everyone is just promoting safety. Yes, they may have said it rudely, but we don't know. We weren't there. Safety first. It's a calm discussion that can be had. What I got out of his post was that Manifest as Titsuville sucks and I'm not convinced of that. I would like to hear from another Manifester on this? Is there any others on dz.com?
  4. First of all, always be nice to your Manifest ladies. Always. According to you just because you're going to Titsville you should be nice to Manifest. Wrong. Be nice to Manifest everywhere. All the time. They're the ones who call 911 on your ass when you fuck up. I'm a Manifester and everyone respects our office reguardless. It's only appropriate. Without them you wouldnt even be getting on a plane. If you're pissed that they relayed a message from other experienced skydivers concerning your pull alltitude then thank them. They are only DOING THEIR DAMN JOBS and going above and beyond to ensure your safty. It's not harassment its a damn safety check. People that freak out and complain on dz.com like you just because they were concerned and looking out for you should not be jumping. Yeah everyone in skydiving wants safety. Promote it. How many accidents could have been avoided this year if people asked questions like the Titsville Manifesters did. Good job Titsville. I would have given him back his tickets too. He sounds like liability. Also, where the hell is Titsville? I think you're making stuff up. Just because you're at Titsville doesnt mean you can abuse the manifest girls.
  5. That's considered Product Crulity and I think it ought to be banned. I mean we don't drop baby animals from the airplanes do we???

    Grey's Anatomy

    Christina Yang became Jewlish :)
  7. Her and I are old friends from college, I'm going to take her on a Tandem in a few weeks.
  8. I agree with everyone to check with an EN&T Specialist, but don't just check with a normal doctor. About four weeks ago I too had to have eardrum surgery, however they clearned me to jump after a few days, but recommended waiting two weeks.
  9. Nice!!!! What's the name of this book you finished?
  10. If it is spinning with the brakes set, it will spin with the brakes released, all other things being equal. Think about it. Something is causing the canopy to turn, an unequal input, otherwise it would fly straight. The only way releasing the brakes will stop a spin is if one brake line is shorter than the other between the brake setting and the tail. i jump a saber 2 150 and i had a chop similar to this. it was because the brake lines were uneven. I got new ones that are now even. However, my canopy will still spin a bit until I've released the brakes ior pulled on my rear risers. I've heard this is common but since you're a rigger I'd like your opinion. Thanks! -Tory
  11. Has anyone read the book that was published on the Golden Knights? Copy written in 1977 ago when they were jumping rounds and letting spectators help pack at their events! It's just called "The Golden Knights". It's a short, amusing read to see all the changes through out the years. I'm still doing research on communication and skydiving, as many of you know, and i keep finding all these really amusing skydiving books. I'll keep posting about all the amusing things I find! -Tory
  12. Thanks guys! I still would like 30 more of these surverys filled out if you have the time. It's all very helpful information!
  13. That sounds very dangerous to me... I don't think I'd want to be in the air with someone that's hard to see.
  14. thanks, it's supposed to be indepth to get intillectual responses. I don't want to go to the bar and have people fill it out, because like I said, if I get enough good information I will apply for a government grant to continue this project. Anything to keep skydivers thinking about how to fly safely is one of my goals. Also, to (if everything goes right) publish some great info about skydiving, and help give skydiving become more recognized! You are right though, each question would make a great thread. There's many things that people either do not think about when communicating to people on a dropzone. So far I've had a lot of great responses back from this! Thanks to everyone that's helping me out, I can't wait for more replies! I'm going to try and post some stats about what people have said every few weeks, so watch out for more updates and keep e-mailing me those responses!! -Tory [email protected]
  15. Hey all! My name is Tory and I'm from Skydive Chicago. If you've ever been there, I've either met you on a plane or inside the Manifest office. I am starting an investigational research project for the University of Illinois of Chicago on communication and.... Yes. Skydiving!! The government awards a grant every year for the most obscure research and I try may apply for it if I can gather enough info in the next few months. I was hoping you all would fill out this survey for me and e-mail it back to me a [email protected]. If you fill out personal experiences, I may quote you so left me know if you want this to be anonymous. I don't care who fills it out as long as he/she has made at least one skydive. I feel even tandem responses will be helpful. This will also be posted on dropzone.com so watch out for it and encourage others to fill this out! Thanks for your help and please ignore my bad spelling! 1. your name, license rating (or # of jumps) and any titles you may hold, (ex. coach), home DZ. 2. Is Communication important to skydiving and why? 3. Where do you find the most and least communication occurs? Why do you think this can happen? 4. How do you communicate in the air to other skydivers? Please gives some examples or situations. 5. How do you communicate on the ground to other skydivers? 6. Where did you learn how to communicate on the ground/in air for skydiving? Is this universal for all skydivers? 7. What program, if any, taught you how to skydive? 8. How is safety related to skydiving? 9. How do you feel about your own communications skills and skydiving? What can be improved on? 10. What do you think others need to improve on with communications? 11. May I contact you if I have any further questions and if so, what is the preferred method? Thanks for your help!
