  3. Anybody used one of these? Flip MinoHD Creative VadoHD I'm not thinking a full on work camera but as a backup/screwing around because it's so small, light, and cheap kinda camera... SkydiveAllegan.com
  4. Article We just did these tandems; it went fantastically and everybody had a great time. As far as the last statement, anybody know of any one blind and older than 79 that has done a tandem? SkydiveAllegan.com
  5. I've got a rig with that patch sewn on the riser! Just a few weeks ago we purposely hooked a main up backwards and made a few jumps on it. You can land ok, just be ready to backpedal (and have a helmet just in case...). SkydiveAllegan.com
  6. In the Special Investigation Report recommendations, they seemed to key in on initial pilot training and recurrency, weight and balance calculations, and development and adherence to a prescribed maintenance plan. Pretty much all things you should be doing anyways. SkydiveAllegan.com

  8. Sorry to hear about the drop zone situation down there, it's always sad when "your" drop zone has to shut down. I've got several people from Goshen that come up and jump with us so I'm aware of the situation. We're going to be jumping and having two Cessnas flying in Benton Harbor (BEH) this upcoming Wednesday, May 21st starting at 4:00p if you or anybody else wants to road trip up and get a couple of jumps in by the lakeshore, it's an hour and a half from Goshen. I can run you through some of the trials and tribulations of owning a DZ. You can check out our Forums for current info. SkydiveAllegan.com
  9. Actually, what would be better would be user programmable function buttons. There's no way to put enough buttons on a camera to access all the functions they pack into them and no matter which ones do have buttons they will always the wrong ones for someone. Let the user pick the functions they want quick access to. SkydiveAllegan.com
  10. Well, I do run a dropzone and I do see it different (than you). I'm with the dz.com junkies and feel that what TP did was a self serving promotional gimmick that at it's best case scenario did no damage to the skydiving community, but more than likely just reconfirmed to the general population what a bunch of half-assed, immature, idiots they think we are for doing what we do. I really don't see his stunt as a positive promotional tool for the skydiving community. SkydiveAllegan.com
  11. There are, but they all run 182's. SkydiveAllegan.com

  15. It varies, of course, depending on weather, actual weight, winds, etc... but typically we get to 10,000' in 16-17 minutes and we plan for 8 gallons per load. We almost always fuel 16 gallons for two loads but adjust according to actual usage. SkydiveAllegan.com
  16. The Wing-X STOL kit will get you a GTOW of 2950#. I actually just weighed my plane yesterday ('56 182) and it was 1733# which gets you a payload of about 1200#. SkydiveAllegan.com
  17. Bob stops by my DZ every now and then either to BS or to toss out his little accuracy tuffet and do $1 accruacy contests. Here's a picture I took last year about three weeks after his surgery, he said the doctor had forbidden him to drive (but he didn't say anything about skydiving). Bob Sinclair SkydiveAllegan.com

  22. The Skydivers Movie Very easily one of the most bungling and unskilled attempts at film making in history. Kinda sounds like it shows how far movie making has come too... SkydiveAllegan.com
  23. I would be willing to bet that if you reread the waiver you signed before you jumped at that DZ then you would probably see that you initialed a paragraph (or several) that pretty much state "shit happens and it's not our fault" and that you are basically accepting any and all risks regardless of what they may be and that the DZ is not responsible for anything. (you did read the waiver didn't you?) Basically, the DZ doesn't have to refund you anything unless it wants to (most DZ's will be fair about it though). SkydiveAllegan.com
  24. Email me at: [email protected] or you can contact me through my website: Skydive Plainwell and we can hook you up. There are several good riggers in the area. SkydiveAllegan.com
