Something like 2 inches slack on B lines, 3 on C and 5 on D.

Are you sure those are not in centimeters? Never seen a canopy with 5 inches slack!

Yes,I think it needs more opening at the corners and a new pilot chute.
The pilot chute just sucks eggs....

    MEL

    Mel,

Are you aware they've increased the mesh portion of the RPC, by a lot?

    Cheers!

If a pin is bent, and you straighten it, does that weaken the pin at the former bend?

At the latest PIA symposium, Nancy from Parachute Labs (those are the people that manufacture a lot of pins) did a demo where she bended and straightened a pin to 90 degrees angle 27 times before it broke....So I guess straightening a slight bend will do nothing to the strength.

.....or was it 37 times? Nancy?!

    Hi Skytrooper,

You mentioned that you were doing a lot of free flying. Then you cannot go wrong with a Vector which has been embraced by free flying community for a reason (skyhook , Collins lanyard, magnetic riser covers and ton of other options). I used to jump Icon and it definitely worked fine(got ~600 jumps on it). But I like my Vector way better. Plus it provides an extra peace of mind at higher free fall speeds (Vectors seem to be a primary choice for serious angle flyers). Just my opinion.

Brand loyalty is very common thing among skydivers. Vector was "embraced" by the FF community because every freeflyer who is worth something got his rig for free or with some kind of a discount. And as we know, you should never trust sponsored jumper who is "advising" you what to buy. Here is some food for a thought....Speed skydivers and especially Speed skydiving instructors, are against magnetic riser covers as they don't hold well at high speeds. Funny eh?!
To the OP, buy an Infinity and you will never regret. Mirage and Wings are fine too.

    Hey everyone!!
I can't demo the Pulse as I live in Germany where getting a demo is hard and coz I am away most of the year due to my job.
    Patrick

Send an email to hans at performancedesigns dot com and see what he can do for you. He will visit some DZs in Germany this summer. If you plan on visiting some Dutch DZs, I might be able to help as well.

    Take care

  6. Thanks for the info.

I'm going to check it out this Monday. The other option is that ZZ-568 which I was told is made by DA for Global. DA makes the same machine known as 524. The Global is more expensive because it's with Efka servo motor, but the foot clearance is 11mm.
I do a lot of tandem repairs and having that extra 2-3 mm is a big plus.

And Walt, I don't think you really want to import machines from EU. Only the shipping charges will scare you ;)

  7. Does any of you guys have experience with this machine?
Positive or negative?! I need a reliable zig-zag machine for heavy stuff ( toggle tips for example ) and I ran into one of these. The guy selling it said 14mm clearance under the feet, but it sounds a bit unreal.
    Anyone? Mel, Jerry, Terry?

  9. Velcro riser covers = G2
Tuck tab riser covers = G3

Although I think anything made after 1998 is G3 or G4

  10. I'm glad you like the C7 solution. What you have to remember is that when you remove 1000+ SS grommets, the tips of the jaw will round up a bit and that will make cutting the washer more difficult. However, most riggers will never end up replacing 1000+ grommets in their life, but it's good to keep that in mind.

    Cheers

  11. mark

Why did you ask it as a moral question instead of as a legal question?

    -Mark

Legal according to whom? FAA, BPA, DFV, KNVvL, BgPA, FFdP, CSPA, APF?
What's legal for someone, might not be legal for others, but since you are asking, is it legal according to FAA?

    Cheers

  12. A customers walks in and asks for a major repair on his rig. ( chest strap replacement, leg straps replacement etc.) The last repack is still valid and the customer doesn't want to pay for a new one. He only want the repair to be done. Would you do it?! (The last repack is done by another rigger.)

    I voted NO!

Please click on the first two options if you are rigger. For those of you who want to vote, but are not riggers, I made the third and fourth option ;)

  13. Last week I did 3 assemblies on brand new rigs. They were build with that webbing. Manufacturer confirmed that they approve the use of it. And the reason they are using it is very simple. They ran out of Class 1 and they didn't want to put the production on hold.
I'd hate to pay 3k for a rig, not made of Class 1 webbing>:(

  14. Hi Jerry,

    1. Less than 1%
    2. Yes I have
    3. If they are jumpers as well - Yes

You should make that a poll. And don't forget to include the boobs option
