  1. I don't ever get on dizzy anymore. However, a friend told me about this bullshit. Let me get this straight... I committed the federal crime of interstate wire fraud in Montana for a used Pilot then skipped town... to the East coast... From MONTANA. I must have been criminal of the year. God damn. I should start recruiting fucking Nigerians for this shit. I mean hell who wouldn't want to sell a 1200 dollar canopy to leave home and take an 800 dollar drive into fugitive status in the deep dark East. By the way my name is Rob Traynham. This shithead bought a canopy from me 2 fucking years ago. I am also pretty sure he is either completely full of shit or customs officers at LAX yesterday need serious remedial training.
  2. That wouldn't be the one where the observer hit the prop limiter switch, would it?
  3. Porter...tricky...? I'm guessing you have no tailwheel experience at all. The only thing easier than a Porter is a Cub. I do know some of the most "interesting" flying you can do is in a piece of shit 90 KA on one fan.
  4. I was associated with Elon in 2000 thru the flying club at the Palo Alto airport. Guy came to me with 60 hours in a 172 saying he wanted to get proficient in the Extra 300. I told him a straight transition was possible, but, transitioning through lesser planes (citabria, decathlon, Marchetti) would be the way to go. No go. So I loaded him up. Long story short; he became safe and proficient long before I thought he would. He never would have been a Mike Mangold. However, he came in thoroughly prepared mentally and just simply refused to fail. We would beat on maneuvers for literally hours. I'm talking about land, refuel, and continue util he had it down. I've never had another acro student like that before or since. I think that is just his approach to life. It's not refusal to fail. It's fail until you succeed. Probably something to be said for that.
  5. I just found this forum. Looking at your profile I'll be more than happy to tell you about base if you can tell me the name of the standard spin recovery in a Pitts. Rob
  6. I'm curious as to how many JM remain current after several years. Please post Year cert, #, and if no longer active reason for being so. Thanks
  7. Please tell your friend to be careful with this. One of my good friends died in a very well constructed P51 replica. It was professionally engineered and airframe wise was beautiful.; The only thing that makes me feel good about your project is the Russian radial. Roger's project used a converted Ford auto engine with gear reduction. Just tell your friend that if the prop goes flat below 1000 feet to just stuff the stick and ride it in. If Roger had done this he would probably still be around to give you better advice than I am now.
  8. Met you guys a few years ago @ Parker Field ( grass strip in S. Carolina for Dave's funeral). Haven't jumped in a while. I'd like to hook up for some recurrency/stupidity. I know you meant a lot to Dave and he meant a lot to me (Taught me how to land a cub in someones back yard) Shoot me an email @ [email protected]. Green bottles on me. Thanks, Rob
