  1. He brought a prop in, should have used an airsoft one.
I would imagine they did not think this through.

I think the outrage will backfire on those who are supporters of the 2nd Amendment, and its confirmation of a right, held at birth.

How many of the people on this list have actually committed a crime with their firearms?

At this time, none, but it would have to be compared to another data base the news paper did not print off.

  3. CNN and Fox (GASP!) reported today that the shooter had a confrontation with members of the school staff, this could be his motive, if we learn what the confrontation was about.

As well as NBC confirming it was NOT an AR type weapon used in the school.

    Slowly, facts are coming out.

  4. Not 100% true. But, I see this is a lost cause with you. You want what you want.

Try shoring up the prosecution of the criminals, that should never have been loosened.

Firearms education and licensing, good to go.

The "State" has already proven it can not be trusted with registration, CA and NY are now prime examples.

  5. He apparently is involved in two events that the British Police would like to talk to him in person about.

    This is one: http://www.deadline.com/2011/08/phone-hacking-scandal-casts-shadow-on-piers-morgan-u-s-political-landscape/

Another involves some doctored photos and insider trading. This is the one a "warrant" was supposedly issued for.

As the petition is just an exorcise of 1st Amendment Rights by 70,000 (and growing) disgruntled U.S. Citizens it wont be more than that, an expression. But now that they are talking about his legal issues, that might actually be a cause for him to be deported. Our Country has deported folks for even less.

  6. I am OK with the background check being made available to private sales. But registration, not so much, look what NY is doing today with the Permit lists.

Maybe I should have used private car sales as my example.

  7. Sure he can't be deported for his view on the 2nd Amendment. But now those comments have gotten him attention about his warrant back home, that could be used, I highly doubt that though.

I stand corrected on the post i made earlier (about the Bill Of Rights and Legal and Illegals) , I found a few, very biased articles, it was ruled Illegal's had no rights as far as the 2nd Amendment. The initial post I saw was written with a much broader interpretation and just said Bill of Rights.

  8. Hmm, in reading that, it even seems to buttress those defending the 2nd Amendment.

There was a high court ruling (not SCOTUS IIRC) that said the Bill of Rights did NOT apply to legal and illegal aliens.

I will try and find it, it is supposedly from this past year.

I said I thought there was a place to make Private Sales subject to the NCIS Check by opening it up to the seller. You're the one calling it a loop hole, I am not. Private sales are private sales.

I have been to many gun shows, not all of course, and all Businesses selling guns had to run an NCIS check for a sale, private gun sales did not happen on the show grounds as it is posted not too, but that is your assertion they are. The gun show producers i spoke with, say that even if the law doesn't require it, their insurance does. They even have staff to wonder and make sure of this. This loop hole, is being sensationalized by Piers and many others.

I am sure some do make a private sale at a show, as in all things, someone will break the rules.

But, why keep the check if the person passed?

    Matt

So there is a HUGE loophole that allows disqualified people to buy firearms without a NICS check. Calling it anything but a loophole is intellectually dishonest.

But don't be equally dishonest and call it what it isn't. What it is is the sale of a firearm between to private citizens. Just like you selling your plane to another pilot would be a sale between to private citizens.

I am not being dishonest, I am trying to get you to be honest and call it what it is, till now, you have ignored that.

It is the same as saying one cities, or states, laws should be applied to another city, or state. If that is "right" and will work, why would this plan for school guards not work?

It may work....just sad that society is willing to pay more to put guns in schools, but not willing to pay more for better public education.

Sidwell Friends School Tuition is roughly $34,000 a year a child.

I think looking at it in that vain is sad, the thought is, this is for the children's safety. But some would even say this is not necessary, as their statistics would say this happens less than the press makes us believe.

  11. None of this actually supports your "story".

You still have to put Duane in a Parachute, and then in WA and on the plane at the time of the highjacking.

There has been NO proof of any of those things yet.

I'm from DC and know all about this school. This is where the richest and most high profile people in DC send their kids their children. So yes, there are 11 armed guards.

Only in America would people use security at a private school as an example for all schools.

  13. What happened to the formatting there?

I have not read the shooting instruction part. Maybe it was a misguided attempt at including him in her activities. Most parent will deny their mentally unstable child can't be a normal part of society, even after acknowledgement of the issue.

So, it would appear she was irresponsible, She paid for that just like the 26 others sadly.

It also appears we found the fault, and the failure, and it wasn't a firearm.

I think you've just said the opposite of what you meant.

Yeah, he got "post" happy there.

The level of security with the Armed Guards has been around for a while, long before the 1st Daughters arrived. The SS only checks up on and adds steps if so deemed necessary.

I do, however, see the point that it is a tad bit hypocritical to say Armed Security should not be part of the discussion or fix.

  16. I don't know all the facts, but if he had that bad of an issue, and it appears so, then no she was not very responsible. Maybe she did take precautions we don't know about, but that is still speculation based, like this conversation.

I am not one opposed to being responsible, but I will oppose a outright ban out of fear.

One should be educated in what weapons they own and operate. They should also have them positively controlled at all times, so that there is little chance of the wrong, or irresponsible, hands getting control of them.

  17. I would rather know, that suppose. So far, it appears, every one who blames her is making an uneducated guess.

The ME could come out and say she was smothered with a pillow for all we know, then shot, then he went on his rampage.

This is of course just a "what if". Th e"what if" does nothing for dealing with the thing that started this tragedy, his mental health not being properly responded to, by either his mom or the system.

Apparently 65,000 Americans are completely ignorant of their own Constitution.

Or know that INS may hear a case now that they exercised their 1st Amendment rights, as Piers did by being on US Soil, and pointed out a warrant for him in his homeland.

Those who signed, and who wrote, the petition are fighting fire with fire. It also appears to be getting to him as he is dedicating time to defending himself over his words and past deeds.

I have only watched a few of his shows, but I've never seen him actually do an interview or be a journalist, he had his agenda and drove the show down that path till the end credits.

The solution is easy. Allow all teachers too carry that can legally carry. How many colleges have students caring? How many incidents have come up in those colleges? Enough said debate over....Even the ignorant professor cant argue against that.

So you trust all these teachers to keep their firearms in a spot that is simultaneously accessible AND safe from a school full of children? We're having this conversation in the first place because one woman didn't keep her guns safe from her one deranged son. How is this making the school safer?

Asking for consistent logic from a gun nut is asking too much.

Let's stay on the adult level of conversation here.

Heck the ME says stuff contradictory to what the news footage shows, and what the officers on the scene say. We are still hearing contradictions.

But if this guy had been in a treatment facility, which apparently he needed, we wouldn't be talking about this.
