I recently bought a Bev Suit for $282 including shipping, rush charges, and all options. Had it within two weeks. Someone I respect with 25 years of skydiving experience recommended either Tony or Bev. His team recently switched to Bev because of poor service they were getting from Tony after being with him for years. This was after I ordered my suit. Main reason I chose Bev over Tony was price. With all the extras I needed (to slow me down, etc.) the Bev suit was going to be $100 cheaper. The rush charge for Bev is only $20, and you can get double rush for $40, which is less than what Tony want's for a normal rush job. Bev also seems to have a better turnaround time.

Yep! It is basically the same canopy, just not quite as eliptical. In fact, the manual that comes with it is for both canopies.

No, just tell them that you prefer quality over quantity so you only kept the highest quality bits.

It depends on the plane. Since the Otter has a bulkhead that seperates the cockpit from the rest of the plane you are "protected" in the case of a crash. If a skydiver takes out a small Cessna, as happened in Australia last weekend, you are totally screwed as a passenger and would have to jump.

They have a pretty good selection of rental gear at Skydive Atlanta. Not just a bounch of Manta's. If memory serves they have mains between 190 - 290 sq. ft. They have recently bount some new rigs (Quaser?) and also have several Javelins. There are also several folks with multiple rigs that have been know to lend out the spares to others.

I am so there for the night jumps. I need to get them done for my D license as well. Not that I'll be getting that any time soon with only 90 jumps. I have all of my C requirements and most of my D, except for the Eagle and the night jumps.

Just a note to all the Georgia skydivers that Skydive Atlanta is having night jumps this Saturday the 5th. Also, we should have our new Super Otter by then if it isn't already there. While I've got your attention, Doug Glover of Nemesis is having a FREE 4-way skills camp next Saturday the 12th.

There is an article in this month's Skydiving magazine about two different construction methods for the Infinity, one that was much stronger in some ways. I know that this isn't related to your problem, but I thought you might want to look at the article.

I have carried my rig on several times, including an international trip to Ireland (on Delta). I've never had any problems. I take all the crap out of my gear bag, helmet, jumpsuits, dytter, etc. and put it in a hard sided checked bag. I don't want anybody to complain about the size of my gearbag with everything in it. I care the CYPRES card with me and nobody has every asked to see it. I have had friends just carry the parachute out in the open. One of them was stopped by police in Indianapolis and made to answer many questions, till they finally called Delta (his employer even) and Delta didn't understand what the problem was. A gear bag is a good idea for protection and ease of passages.

I have something artifical blocking my view of the reserve ripcord. I have a chest mount altimeter (and a wrist mount, and an audiable). Since I have a Z1 helmet the chest mount is difficult to read if I allow it to migrate to the center of my chest which it naturally wants to do. To stop this I have a tube stow holding it as far to the left as possible. I can't see the handle, but I can still find it quickly. If I move my hand up to the "stop" which is the bottom of the cushion my hand is right in the handle. While your stop will be different (and always be with you), it should be in about the same place and can end up helping the situation. Just my humble analysis of your "problem". The Dutchboy

Sorry, Erica, but only Southerners are allowed to use y'all. There is a minimum time you have to live in the South before you can use y'all. There is disagreement on just how long this is. BTW, I'm talking about the Southern USA, not Southern Ireland. I know you've been to Florida, but it ain't part of the South despite it's location.

I saw a really nasty landing this Saturday. He started his 180 degree hook turn too low. He at least realized it when he hit 90 degrees or he would probably be dead. He landed hard on the pavement in from of the hangar sliding and rolling. He burned several holes in his container and destroyed his reserve PC as well at a minimum. He was scraped up a bit. He eventually limped away with some help. He was lucky he wasn't more seriously hurt and that he landed 20 feet from medical personel. On the same load, right after watching this I saw several people swooping and all landing different directions as the winds were light and variable. We made a point of picking a landing direction from that point onward.
