  1. My most interesting was the only one so far. Cross Keys Jersey 2 days ago. Some serious uppers, full into the wind, getting blown back to the other end of the airport. Turned downwind and did probably 50-60 over to a field next to home depot. Got a ride back from a cool local with a pickup, along with another jumper.
  2. How about this, when I get down there in january for the new semester, I'll buy beer, and you can witness it. No sneaking here, I just don't turn 21 until saturday, so I couldn't buy at Xkeys or Deland the past 2 times.
  3. Give me the keys to a jump plane any day and I'll be happy for the rest of my life. (so long as its turbine )
  4. Stand up = Any landing that doesn't involve reaching and spiriling into the ground. Thankfully I'm over that. The technique I used for my first few good landings was half brake it in and flare. Then as you get better a few times and gain better judgement, let it all the way out like you are supposed to and then flare. I've got 14 jumps now and the last 8 have been perfect.
  5. The tunnel is definitely worth it. It is an opportunity to concentrate on your body position and skills without worrying about everything else associated with freefall (exit, break off, opening, canopy, etc). If you have a coach with you, you can hop out for a few seconds, debrief with your coach, and hop right back in to keep on working. Plus it is definitely a lot cheaper. You can buy an hour of tunnel time (the equivalent of 60 skydives) for $600. Assuming a typical rate of $19 per jump, the same amount of freefall time would cost you $1,140 which is almost double. Besides, if it wasn't worth it, why would so many skydivers use it as a training tool, including the world's top 4-way and freefly teams? Yea, thats exactly what I said: But for the money you save, you don't get any exit, canopy time, or landings. Maybe its worth it if you are a national champ, or have many a jump under your belt. But for most people, like myself, you get 10x the experience and money's worth out of an actual loggable jump. Well worth the extra 7 or 8 dollars in my opinion.
  6. I've did 10 minutes in the tunnel. I felt the same way. It is much harder. They also don't like to pump up the air that much if you don't have any experience in the tunnel, because they don't want you flying up, hitting the roof and then tumblng back down, so you really have to concentrate on your orientation. You are also missing a few pounds on your back, so your cg and body position are all different. IMO, its not really worth it unless you get a good group rate going. Its only a matter of a few dollars versus regular freefall time.
  7. Because the school is a whopping 18% female. The town isn't much better either. Unless you want 15 year-olds with std's and babies. No, flagler isn't open anymore: http://www.dropzone.com/news/SkydiveDaytonaBeachtoClo.shtml
  8. Deland is the closest. I jump there. Its 15 mins from campus. And skymama is right, we have a club. I haven't joined yet, but plan on it next semester. They have their own gear and offer unlimited rental for about $60 a semester. If you don't have your own. Theres also Titusville 45 mins to the south, and Palatka 45 minutes to the north. Lake Wales, Zhills, and Sebastian are about 1.5 hours away. Do youself a favor though, get laid before you transfer. Because there ain't a chance in hell you will here.
  9. DeLand, because its the only one i've been to. People are great, and its nothing but turbines (van, otter, porter). Not to mention its a 15 minute drive. Nice scenery too: downtown orlando, palatka nuke plant, shuttle assembly building, daytona speedway.
