  1. The CF World Record site is: http://cfworldrecord.com/2005/ I think this is the site that will be used for the 2007 info. It doesn't seem to be updated yet. But I'm not complaining. I'm sure it will be updated soon, or a new one revealed. Until then, it is nice to look at the great photos of last year's formations.
  2. Yeah, but the only way to get good at CRW is to do it. 2-ways is all the flying that you'll ever need to do. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  3. Shit, Wendy, there's probably way more that can go wrong jumping with you than with any 16-way ! _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  4. Oops...Well...we probably weren't supposed to mention it to you. Only certain people were supposed to know. Don't tell Pangburn I said anything about it. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  5. This is very true. Some DZs have "gang" colors, and if you show up wearing those, you'll be beaten senseless on sight. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  6. I hate to generalize, but back then, most people who were new jumpers bought some cheap, workable gear and spent more money on jumps to improve their skills. Lately, it seems that more jumpers just out of training are buying top-of-the-line, custom gear. Then they complain about not having any money left to jump. Of course the marketing of gear is much more sophisticated now, than it was then, and we know how susceptible some people are to marketing. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... 7. That event has a new date: ------------------------------------ Due to a scheduling conflict we are going to have to change the date of the first Lake Wales camp to March 2, 3, and 4th. ------------------------------------ _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... 8. Message from Brian Pangburn, posted here for your convenience: Hello all you canopy formation pilots! Due to a scheduling conflict we are going to have to change the date of the first Lake Wales camp to March 2, 3, and 4th. All other dates are a go and we look forward to seeing you all and getting back in the air! Below is the announcement again with the dates updated. Take Care! Attention all Canopy Formation Pilots In November 2007 we are again organizing the event we all have been waiting for – the 100-way Canopy Formation World Record. Below is the training and tryout schedule for the world record. Training/Try-out Camps: March 2, 3, 4 @ Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales, Florida May 11, 12, 13 @ The Parachute Center in Lodi, California May 26 – June 3 @ Empuriabrava, Spain July 4 – 8 @ Jumptown in Orange, Massachusetts August 10, 11, 12 @ Carolina Skysports in Louisburg, North Carolina October 12, 13, 14 @ Perris Valley Skydiving in Perris, California 100-way Canopy Formation World Record Attempts: November 17 – 25th @ Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales, Florida The format will be similar to what we did for the 2005 world record. Each candidate will be required to attend at least one training/tryout camp to qualify for the record. We strongly suggest attending as many camps as possible to keep your skills sharp and improve your chances on being selected. The criteria will be similar to the 2005 selection criteria - only we need to shave off another second so better than a 9 second split average is needed to qualify – and they have to be smooth docks. We will be working on updating our web site to include the dates and other information regarding the canopy formation world record. We hope to have the web site updated by the end of November. More details and sign up lists for each individual training camp will be coming later. Dust off them Lightnings and start doing some 2-ways to prepare. We need 100 canopy formation pilots all having a good day – on the same day – on the same dive - can you be one of them? _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... 9. I've heard differing opinions as to how experienced a jumper should be before learning CRW. What are the thoughts on this ? Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  10. We plummet. plum·met –verb (used without object) 3. to plunge. —Synonyms 3. fall, dive, drop, swoop. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  11. Yeah, it would be a shame if the rotten thieving bastard was offended. Kevin _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  12. These folks say they are 20 miles from Shreveport. http://www.skydivelouisiana.net/ _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  13. Much less hassle if you can arrange to do the diving after the jumping. Kevin _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  14. Debate with them and then talk about them like this behind their backs. You may want to have a talk with Mr. Jraf, Skymama. After his sexist rant, I'm not sure he will be too welcome at any Fla. DZ with ladies at manifest. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  15. I'm afraid I must agree with them. That thing looks fucking hideous. Kevin _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  16. Bob Sinclair has been making that idea work for about 20 years, so far. Kevin _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  17. I do not have any stake, financial or otherwise in Skydive Space Center. I just jump there, occasionally, as I do at several other Florida DZs. I apologize for misreading the type of audible that you were jumping. Obviously, with a Dytter there is no record of your deployment altitude. I am not trying to attack you here, only to ask some relevant questions. I think that you are devaluing your arguement by not answering them, but that is your choice. I'm not sure why you chose to bring up the length of time that I have been in this sport. I have simply tried to go from day to day staying safe and alive in a sport where some have not. It has been my experience that more time in this sport gives one additional insight, rather than making one extra-stupid, as you imply. 18. Mr. Jraf, Since your profile contains a bunch of silly horseshit (1 jump, License # F-111 from NASA, 5.95 wing loading, etc.) it's difficult to access your credibility in saying that the people at the DZ are unqualified and don't know what they're talking about. With respect to the USPA BSRs, I believe that the opening altitudes have a license provision attached. Do you possess a USPA license ? If so, what class is it ? What were the deployment altitudes shown on your L&B Pro Track for your jumps that day at Skydive Space Center ? I hope you don't mind these intrusive questions. I'm trying to ask politely, as I realize that you are a sensitive individual. Kevin Keenan _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  19. I think it's true of most DZs that being nice to the Manifest Ladies is a good idea. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  20. Good write-up and analysis of your experience. Thanks for taking the time to lay it all out. There are a lot of first-hand lessons that everyone can learn from this. All of those factors could have stacked up for a worse outcome if your performance (and luck) had gone in a different direction. It may have been that you would not have been able to share any of this with us. Off-airport night landings are pretty hazardous even on a main on a good night. I'm glad that all this education can come from someone who is still here to share a beer and a valuable jump story. Good work. Kevin _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... 21. In case you like the bigger RW jumps, here are some that we did at ZHills a few weeks ago. Most were 2-3 points, with one 4-pointer.
  22. Here's an interesting C-119 photo. This is the later mod with a Westinghouse J34 jet engine added. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  23. Ths clamshell doors could not be opened in flight. They were either on or off at takeoff. The jump doors, which were man-sized doors, were commonly opened in flight for paratroop drops, etc. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  24. You can wear it backwards and be a Black Stormtrooper. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
  25. I happened upon Abba on the radio the other day, singing, "Take a Chance on Me". I didn't think much of it at the time, because I like that song. But now I realize that I must be totally gay. I'm depressed now, and must go out and buy a George Michael CD. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
