I haven't had alot of time to deal with this issue right now but I intend to when I can. Flying over a NP is allowed but no less than 2000'. They want to get rid of flying over the NP all together. THat makes no sense. The scenic flight companies are worried about that because that is what they do, they fly over the NP. They are going to raise the 2000' make soon, to approx. 4000'. It was going to be my 200th jump so we went to a certain place in southeastern Utah. My dad and brother just arrived here on vacation. My friend from CO was here also so we were going to explore and find a new jump for my 200th. I went flying with our pilot in our C-182 a few months ago and I saw several nice cliffs, so that morning we started to hike and we found a couple of jumpable exit points but we weren't sure of the landing area so we kept exploring. Then the winds came up so we didn't plan on jumping. It was blowing 15-20mph. So my dad, brother and my 2 dogs went down the switchback and I told them appox. where we were going to jump. When we decided that we weren't going to jump because of the winds, we told them to drive up the road abit further so they could see where we were on the wall. So we were still exploring and then the NPS showed up. Well my dad just passed into CNP but didn't really see the sign. They were looking and being facinated by the cliffs. Well the dogs were out, in the NP and the Park Ranger un-buckled his holster on his gun. My dad got scared when he saw this. The ranger told my dad that dogs were not allowed in the park. Honest mistake. Then he asked what he was doing there. He told them that we were BASE jumping. We saw the truck pull up to the our van and we didn't think anything of it. My brother called up to me and told me that the ranger told them they had to leave and take the dogs out of the park. They were in the park by 1/4 mile. I then asked the ranger if we could jump off of this exit point. HE said no because it was in the NP. I said oh, I didn't know that we were in the NP, cool no problems, I was just curious, it's way too windy anyway. He told my brother to tell us to meet him at our car and not too leave so he could tell us where we could jump. So we thought that he was going to tell us to jump north of the switchback. Well, when we got back to the car he wanted our driver's license, so we gave it to him. He seemed ok until he took our gear. We thought he was going to just check to see who we are but he took our gear. HE said because we had the intent to jump. Because we had gear on our back and ground crew. He asked us if we saw a fence with sign on it and we said no. As far as we knew we didn't do anthing wrong. It was too windy to jumps so we went exploring. We had to bring our rigs because we weren't going to leave them there and then get lost. WE didnt' see any signs or anything. IT was too windy to jump and we were just hiking. You are allowed to hike in the NP but not with your rig on, both of us knew this but we did not know that we were in the NP. We were in the park by 50' maybe 75'. We looked on the topo map later. We just got our rigs back on Monday. 10 days of not having gear and all my friends(20)were in town from the east coast to jump. That sucked!! I did borrow a rig on the last day that they were here and 9 of us jumped good 'ol "frozen pizza" for my 200th!! Yahoo! So the morrel of the story is if your near a NP, make sure you know where the boundry is and don't cross it with your rig on. Leave it at the boundry, and that's if there is one. Thanks for the calls, I just looked at what I wrote and I can see why you would think something is up. My appoligies. If you are coming to Moab and you need a cheaper place to stay let me know. My roommate just left with 1 day notice and now we have an open room for anyone coming to town for the whole month of March. WE really could use the $$ to help pay for half the rent. PM me and I'll tell you how much, not sure if I can say in the forum? I have a bed, lots of floor room, basic cable, computer, a bike to ride into town Lots of cooking room so you don't have to go out and spend money, it's an apartment, right behind the Gonzo Inn and 20sec walk to the LICK HER store. I attached a photo of the back of my videonics titler. I only have video, S video IN and video, S video out. The IN video is the white cable going to the REC OUT video and the yellow cable OUT is going to the VCR in. I looked at the back of the mixing board and I attached a picture of the REC OUT. THe titler has I can put the S video out of the mixer to the DVD recorder IN, but I am already using the audio(white/red) cables running into the VCR. SO how do I get the audio to the DVD recorder without pulling the audio cables from the VCR to the DVD??? I am assuming that there are spliters at Radio shack?? Then where does the VHF/UHF cable go? RIght now with the VCR set up I have the VHF going out of the VCR to the TV. If I want to do just the DVD recorder then I use the VHF cable out to the tv. If I record both the DVD and VHS at the same time, where does the VHF cable go? Keep it the same? The VCR OUT to the TV and put the DVD VHF cable IN the VCR? It's confusing isn't it. Attached is a picture of the mixing board with the REC OUT, it has S video, yellow, white, red. The S video is going into the DVD. The red and white cables are going to the VCR The white(video) cable is going to the titler. The yellow cable is in the "preview", next to the REC OUT. I already have another tv/monitor. Yes, more discussions in this forum. Just looking for the best results. I think it would be dangerous to have a boogie and depend on tandems that might show up. I have all 3. I connected the S video from the mixer OUT to the dvd IN. Do I need a certain TV? With the 3 prong RCA cables and and S video. RIght now I have a small 9 tv with only a VHF/UHF(co axel) and only a yellow and white rca cable, the red cable is not being used? And where does the VHF/UHF plug into? I have the VHF/UHF from the VCR OUT to the TV so I can see what is being recorded? Right now all I have into the DVD recorder is the s video and that doesn't have audio does it? I remember that S video is only video. Am I wrong on this? I'm getting the picture abit but still lost. I can't view any functions or anything from the dvd recorder. HELP!! I am having trouble figuring out how to hook it up. I should know this but I am just drawing a blank. I have a regular setup, mixing board, titler, 2 cd players, VCR, etc. I have the rca cables coming out of the "rec out" on the mixing board and they plug into the VCR IN. The DVD recorder came with 3 prong RCA cables and I don't know where to run them to. THey must go into the dvd recorder but out from where? Not the VCR because it will put out bad quality video? And where does the VHF/UHF plug into? I have the VHF/UHF from the VCR OUT to the TV so I can see what is being recorded? DVD recorder, WHere does the VHF/UHF go to or do I even use it? I don't want to switch cables out evertime I use the DVD or VCR? Can't I use both at the same time? Or just one at a time without switching cable? Do I need a certain TV? I lived in Moab last year and I was a slut! I came to Moab with 40 jumps and left with 170. That means 130 jumps in 6 months if you can't add. I did an average of 5 per week. This year, starting a dz, I haven't done that much. ONly 29 so far. So that average in 4 months is 1.8 per week. That's right I have 199 now. Number 200 is coming! I haven't jumped in 3 weeks either.
