There WAS no "strong, very turbulent, cross wind" that day. I was at the loading area on the next load, watching you land. That means i was going up and I wouldnt go up in "strong, very turbulent, cross wind". We watched you go across the traffic pattern going towards the runway and hitting it with not much flare. No rotors there, son. Clear area. But even if there WERE strong, "very turbulent, cross wind" you speak of, then you would have been advised to not jump. IF you were advised, that means you didnt listen... what does it say about you? With 41 jumps? Two words come to mind. "Dumb" for jumping if your story was true, "liar" if what we all saw was. When you say that someone tampered with your gear I hear an open accusation aimed at EVERYONE at my DZ. IF you have speccific proof and know who the person is - you NEED to name them. NOBODY wants such a person at their DZs. Or may be you just need to get your head out of your a$$ and check your gear properly everytime. Listening to people on this forum as well as at the Ranch, trying to figure out why your name is on that list and why you are making all those solo jumps, may also be a good option. Bottom line - you need to find another DZ. When you do, consider what caused you to find this new DZ in the first place. See if you can avoid history repeating itself... This place is horrible. Too many Russians, Hungarians, French and all others. WARNING: If you are black, EVERYONE will look the same to you. People eating shit with their hands (instead of spoons), canopy kiters, 60 foot pond cutaways, various landing directions on the same load, bounce bingo, 2 year experts, JC wanna be's... you name - they have it. Opinions needed from those with enough experience on both Xaos 21 and either VX or Velocity. How does the Xaos compare to these canopies in all flight characteristics? If they land in the water, here is an idea that i had in mind. Requires precision, but all these top guys are capable of it. In short: You soften the water by running air through it. Run several pipes or hoses (with 1 inch holes at 2-3 foot intervals) on the bottom of a 100-200 foot body of water (either a river or a man-made rectangular pool). Run compressed air or CO2 from both ends of the pipes (to even the pressure). As air bubbles rise to the top they will greatly "soften" the water, reducing it's average density allowing the body to "sink" rather then bounce and "skip". I have owned three Big Air canpies. PD210->Safire 189->Jedei 170->Jedei SW 150->Samurai 136. After FINALLY getting the flare right on my Safire I tried Jedei 170. The landings pretty much sucked on the Safire. The flare was horrible and I dreaded every landing, having twisted ankles numerous times. Enter The Jedei. What a difference. The flare was AMAZING compared to the Safire. The Swept Wing Jedei 150 was even better - it had Eagle Trim. The bottom flare was so deep I didnt even have to flare all the way sometimes. Next one was Samurai 136. All teh good things from the old designs by The Experimentator came together in this great wing. The flare - deep, powerfull. On landings I hardly ever run - just slide to a stop. Shut down on a dime. The glide. I dont recall ever landing out on this bad boy. In brakes I can glide to the DZ from the longest spots with ease (but still check your spot ;). Openings have always been on heading, soft and easily steerable with harness input. Airlocks... well i'd rather have them then not, but i think there was way too much hype about them. If the conditions are less then perfect, good - I'll take them. But if it's all jacked up, and old timers are sitting on the ground and the only ppl you see up are the 100-200 jump wonders... DONT JUMP! If you think that airlocks will protect you... they might... but! you hit that bad spot... and you just might hit the ground with an inflated wing :) Excersise caution and make the right choice - sit it out. Overall this is a great canopy and I would recommend it to anyone. Other canopies I have jumped: Spectre 190, 170, 150. Sabre 1/2 170, 150. Crossfire 129. Velocity 120.
