  1. it sounds like someone went thru past receipts and are billing others then. hmmmmm. that doesnt seem right to me. if a company is just catching errors from 2 years ago, that would make me question there billing practices. so whats to say their not srewing that up too. 2 people both claiming they already paid/ vs 1 company going back threw receipts 2years later. hopefully you have proof. tell them to get f'ed thats bullshit good luck but to answer posters q's. ive never dealt with racer. but their customers have a unique loyalty. ive heard alot of positive comments over th few years ive been around. >
  2. no it was an ad for safteyday 2 years ago. it does not exist. >
  3. whether the packer caught it or not isnt relevant. who's responcible for their gear? not some guy getting paid 5 bucks. you think 5 bucks buys you the same care and concern for your life as you should have? maybe in some utopian society, but this is the real world. so having 20 jumps and blaming that on packers is not the attitude to have. thats my point. ive seen mains hooked up backwards by riggers, an altimeter closed in the container, risers hooked up incorrectly . all by skydivers that are heads up but slipped for just one second. thats all it takes. the same pattern that causes you to lock your keys in the car, it happens. dont pin. come on bro, its your gear, and YOU should know that. >
  4. [keep in mind one was basically injury free (seperated ribs and bruised organs), -------------------------------------------------- what is your defenition of injury! lmao, i wouldnt exactly call that injury free! im just joking, im sure your dz is all good. its just alot of pounding to see in 1 year. my thoughts about this are; you wont be a safer skydiver for seeiong it. you will be a safer skydiver for never forgetting it!!!! ok get a pen heres my shpeel. on my 10th jump my instructor hooked it in right in front of me. i remember how confused i was. i couldnt understand what the hell happened! he hit flippinn hard and bounced 5 feet in the air like a rag doll. then somehow stood up and did this crazy "o shit are my bones sticking out of my legs" dance. my first thought was, "these friggin people are crazy,.......but damn there tough! i like it here." well 2 years later swooping is my favorite dicipline, and youd think after watching that id be real careful and never be that guy,......wrong. at jump 403, wham! i did the same shit but was told i bounced 6-8 feet. out-doing your early mentors is not the moral to this story. the moral is, remember it, think about it. but never ever think "i wont ever pound, cuz i saw how bad pounding is" you wont pound if you keep your ego in check. listen to others, take it slow, and most off know yourself, and ACCEPT YOUR LEARNING CURVE. peace bro. be safe, have fun jeff >
  5. thats totaly true kallend. we do not own any airspace we share it. its hypocritical to put all the blame on the pilot because you feel he's not doing his part checking for active dropzones. when most jumpers arent checking for a/c on exit. like tom buch stated, you should be able to see a/c that are in range of the dz. jumpers tend to put all the blame on pilots when its actually both partys not doing everything they can to avoid a/c collisions. keep in mind pilots have as much to loose as we do. their life. i try to remember that when my temper flares cuz some pilot is doing circles at 2000 ft to figure out what the swoop pond is! all the more reason to check really good for a/c on exit. >
  6. [seen 3 people hit HARD, hard enough that all 3 times i immediately thought they were dead. one was a femur from a bad swoop, one was a bad swoop with minor injuries, and one was a double malfunction resulting in a broken pelvis, collarbone, and punctured lung. it is absolutely amazing how hard the human body can hit the ground and still remain functional (i.e. alive). and no, you dont forget..... ] ----------------------------------------------------- damn bro, youve seen 3 impacts in 1 year of skydiving. whats going on at your dz? >
  7. thanks for everyones thoughts. i dont think sub term openings are nessasary either, but its my first (beer!) new canopy and wanted to make sure. i cant wait to shred on this canopy! i demmo'ed one last summer and they are the shiettt!! this coming from a diehard pd guy. sorry pd but i call em the way i see em. and the crssfire 2 is exactly what im looking for for working jumps. peace all blue skies and stuff >
  8. no that doesnt bother me. im not worried about uneven stretching my reserve lines. its there to save my ass and deploy fast and hard and not often. my main however i want to open symetrical and as designed so im not opening my reserve every other jump. i would however want a thorough inspection after a terminal reserve opening and possibly send it back to the manufacturer for inspection if it was a unusually hard opening. my outlook is my ellpitical main is designed for high performance flight being more sensitive to trim. my reserve is designed to save my ass and get me on the ground alive. it doesnt have to fly like a dream. just stable enough to land without injury. look at microravens. imo they are the bare min. of acceptable flight characteristics. but they save alot of asses every year. in other words they aint pretty landings but they'll do for some jumpers. >
  9. i should be receiving a new crossfire 2 99 this week. ive heard over the years that its s good idea to do some sub terminal openings to break in a new canopy or new line set. how important is this, and how many do you recommend? thanks >
  10. how many times did he pull at 10 grand? wow thats pretty pegged out. >
  11. i never thought about it. but it makes sense youd hear your audible better with earplugs. i should try it cuz often i dont hear my pull tone when tracking due to the air howling in my helmet that doesnt fit snug enough. its set 500 high anyway and ive never needed it to remind me to pull. good to know thanks >
  12. when im jumping the skyvan i have to wear earplugs. besides it being obnoxiously funkin loud, the noise fatigues me much faster than the otter. the noise adds mental stress that makes me moody and drains me of energy. i love exiting a skyvan but honestly its not worth the headache anymore. give me an otter any day! >
  13. your packer is NOT your mom bro. your responsible for maintaining your gear not a packer! its alot easier to miss than you are thinking. careful about saying something judgmental with very little expierience or time in the sport. trust me better skydivers than you and me have made bigger mistakes. it happens. stick around you'll see. >
  14. thanks. your the first person to bring the brown spot to the world. horray!!! keith. is there water in the pond. it looks like dirt. that would be different. the 2005 cpc dirt swooping circuit. serously though thanks alot. been super curious about that new pond. j >
  15. ive had to use front risers to penetrate high winds more than once. dont forget about fronts. they got me home and everyone else on my dive using other controls landed off. in med winds rears are you best buddy. they flatten the canopys attack angle. this helps in 2 ways. 1. decreases decent rate, 2. decreases amount of canopy presenting into the wind. helps cut threw the wind. when you apply brakes yes your decreasing decent but increasing the amount of area catching wind. o and definatly get small this helps a bunch! >
  16. whoah thats crazy stuff. do you have the proper amount of cable length? i see your gear is new and modern. icon if your info is correct. im pretty good about gear checks. i do a full check of everything before i start my day. but then its usually just main pin, handles, bridle before each jump. sometimes ive thought why am i inspecting my 3 rings and cable routing? they should be the same as last time considering i havent changed canopy's or chopped. but your malfunction is exactly why! thanks for sharing >
  17. reading another post about jumping threw clouds got me thinking. being in the northwest of the us we have alot of cloudy days. my dz is very strict about punching clouds. that being you do it, your done for the day. i didnt always agree with the stictness, but now being more expierenced and a little wiser i couldnt agree more. ive had some scary jumps at other dz's with clouds. its not very fun opening up in a white world not knowing where the dz is or the 22 other canopy's are. it doesnt seem you have more incidents or fatalities in the uk than the us. although you probably land off alot more. so my question is when you open above or in thick cloud layers, what do you do to try to make it back to the dz without being able to see where the heck your going. also have you had close calls or actual canopy collisions. you must have some brass balls to exit without having any visual orrientation of where you are. especialy if your near a body of water. does any of this freak you folks out or is it just the way it goes? p.s im not questioning your methods. im just curious about your thoughts and procedures. your expierience with clouds could help others if the find thenselves in a bad situation. thanks j >
  18. i hear that. i can notice a difference in nthe alt at eloy compared to sea level in oregon. the thing i noticed first was less lift at the end of my swoop. i was touching down real hard wehen i went to slide out the remaining speed. so its probably 3 times worse at mile hi. but i still want to see it and get wet. thanks for taking pics for us. your pretty cool for a canadian. lol j/k >
  19. nice!!!!!!! i cant wait. this pond will be the pond swooping meca. well all have to face denver and give homage everyday at noon. seriously i cant wait to visit and rip that sucker!!!! >
  20. we're all dying to see pics of the huge go fast pond in colorado. anyone have some they could post? >
  21. off the subject for 1 sec. what the hell does "uninsured" mean? why is that part of his companys name? so bill booth doesnt have insurance and adds that to his title? i dont know why but it has always annoyed me. cest la ve i like the idea of large reserves and small mains. reserves are ther for worst case scenario. why people always asume best case scenario during a mal is beyond me. try landing as reserve with a badly broken arm. you'll be wishing you had the biggest reserve ever made!!! lukily pd is solving both style and function issues with their new reserves. a 143 packs up smaller than a 113. pretty cool huh? ill let someone else field test them for a couple years then ill buy one, >
  22. you have to focus manualy with that lens. your right the auto focus cant find the sweet spot. >
  23. hey stu whats up bro. do you know if pd offers the modification the team has. and also is this fact? ive heard this as well but it doesnt make much sense to not offer the same canopy as the team has. regardless my next canopy will be a velooo!!! its all ive ever wanted. think about it, they developed a 21 cell is as effecient if not more effecient a winmg than all other 27 cells. not to mention every other company to put out a 21 cell discovered they werent very popular or liked for competition. yet the velo dominates. its an amazing canopy. peace >
