Johnny Cash is easy to play, even if you have had a few drinks, or something from John Mellencamp.

I'm referring more to the selection of songs rather than degree of difficulty.

Any one know of a good acoustic song to learn?

    something for the campfire...perhaps???

As an old Byrds fan here's one of my favorite sites. Roger McGuinn's Folk Den. Lotsa traditional songs from around the world with lyrics and
chords. ......and you get to hear McGuinn performing them.

As already mentioned, but it bears repeating, we'll need pictorial evidence to verify the situation - but I have never heard of such a thing (Cute Blond Ignored at DZ). Sounds like a fake headline from The ONION.

Does Keith know about this place?

Has anybody considered the notion that the OP might be a troll? That's the first and only post made by the OP. If she is real, then something is really WRONG with that DZ if nobody will jump her, er I mean jump with her....

Something to ponder...... The OP says "I have talked to the DZO about this but he just blew me off...........................................Did I note, I'm a super cute blonde............."

Nothing about gender in the post!?! :o

And people wonder why our numbers are in decline.:S Yep go find another place to jump, it would be best to visit as many as you can in your area and "feel the vibe" of all of them, sometimes it's worth driving the extra miles to avoid the assholes of the sport.

The "assholes" are precisely who katzg08 needs. Go to Z-Hills and seek them out.

  6. Robby in "Forbidden Planet", was not the same robot as
IIRC, the "Robby" robot actually made a guest appearance once as an alien robot on "Lost In Space".

Amazing how alien robot technology was so similar to earth robot technology. (Also, I think Gort was related to KITT somehow.):)

  7. cornbread can be round when baked it in a round pan like i do

OK, I have to admit that I actually make cornbread in those little muffin pans with the paper cups. Makes cleanup easier. (I hope I don't have to give up my "Southerner" card.)

  8. Original units by the OP are in feet, not inches. also the volume calculation you did was for a 17' sphere. OP spec'd a 15' sphere.

Additionally -- pie are NOT square.. pie are ROUND. CORNBREAD are square. I thought I'd be first to point that out since it will inevitably be mentioned in this thread anyway.

  9. I know this is an older thread. I found it by googling "rockledge". I am interested in seeing higher res scans of these articles. My first roommate in college in Melbourne was going through his FJC with the Falling Stars club in the fall of 1968. I would occasionally tag along with him up to Rockledge and watch them jump. His JM was Terry who was mentioned in the article you attached. I remember going with them to Kissimmee to an airshow where some of the jumpers from there were doing a demo. The Wasik story was told to me by Terry and if I remember correctly, he was the JM for both of the fatal jumps. This is where I first became interested in skydiving even though more than 20 years would pass before I would make my first jump. My roommate left school after a couple of months and I don't know if he kept jumping. His name was Owen Pharis (spelling?). I wonder what became of Terry. I don't remember Lyle but I was only there a few times.

  10. A group of us from Phoenix/ZHills went to see 'em at the old Tampa Stadium. Great show and a great time had by all. My ticket stub says May 5, 1994. I vaguely remember that they had to keep the laser show low because of the proximity to TIA. I especially liked the spotlight shift on the large ball on the 50 yd line revealing a crescent moon on the other side of the stadium. Also, Betty at ZHills always kept a steady flow of Pink Floyd piping through the PA system.......that is when she wasn't playing "Achy, Breaky Heart" :P

  11. First one was jump #16. I think it was a GP Maverone student canopy. During the requisite Hop-n-pop at 4000 ft. I had risers crossed in front of my face. After I determined that it wasn't twists I remembered my pack job earlier where something didn't look quite right and I remembered passing the packed d-bag and PC sideways through the risers before placing it into the container. (I was going to ask an instructor about it but they all looked busy and I was satisfied that I had it figured out.) I probably could have landed it ok but at 16 jumps all I saw was a problem. I decided that if I didn't have it sorted out by 2500 ft. then I would chop it. And I did. Found the main but lost the reserve FB & PC somewhere on McNasty's property. My 2nd one was a line-over at around jump #120 and the 3rd was a fast spinner, probably line-over, around jump 900.

  12. Yes, I remember that now. Now that I think about it, it seems that the reflection was not of the Reaper but rather a CYPRES. If Piras was facing toward the rear then the reflection was in one of the other jumpers' glasses. Maybe someone has a close-up photo of the tailgate skydivers.

  13. Hi Bill,

I didn't know part of the painting at Head's still existed. To bad if it's not the tailgate scene. If I remember correctly one of the jumpers on the tailgate was supposed to be Tom Piras and a reflection of the Reaper could be seen in his sunglasses. I believe Piras went in shortly before Rickerby painted this mural. Of course, my memory could be fogged with age & time.

Also, I'm planning on getting by the DZ sometimes during the T-Boogie for a visit. Maybe see you there.
