Who made the nimbus? If I cant find it on the first few lines of google, I'm lazy.:P

Para-FLite, along with their other meteorologically inspired names for canopies.

I hadn't seen a single episode of CSI until I watched that one. I'm glad I never watched it, that episode was horrible. For a show that gets something like 12 million viewers weekly, you'd think that they could hire better actors and do more research.

OK.....this type of stuff happens too often in movies, etc. to be an accident. I think they probably did go to the skydiving community for research and they probably got a bunch of jumpers pulling their legs with the cornball lines like the "leghole" thing. I bet you skydivers out in CA do this a lot and make bets on whose lines actually get used on tv shows and movies. Now, tell me.......which one of you guys came up with the 3 minute freefall from 4 grand in Point Break? ;)

Also, I love looking 10 years younger than my real age.

    Um....Yeah....me too! :|

I hope I don't look 10 yrs younger than my real age. If I did I'd look like an old fart. Actually, except for the gray(ing) hair, beginnings of some wrinkles, some aches and pains in places I didn't know existed, and general crotchetyness I still look and act quite young. ;):S

Since the talk tonight is about old movies etc.. I thought I would kick this topic out for discussion. My vote is "The Prisoner". I saw it when it was first aired. (Yes I am a Geezer now:|)

WINTER HAVEN, FL -- Two men in a home-built airplane survived a brush with death Sunday when they landed their plane on Havendale Boulevard.............................................................

Secondary Focus: Let's hear some near close call stories in any vehicle (plane, car, or boat)

Here's me and my boat in 1979. Also, this picture was taken about 2 or 3 miles from where that plane landed.

I love our Otter at SDD...The Caravan isn't too shabby either. ;)

I believe this T.O. was at Phoenix/Z-Hills around 1994. This was during the time that Skydive City and Phoenix/Z-Hills coexisted peacefully side-by-side, simultaneously at the same time. :)

I'm reading up on what might be a good beginner's board. Any informed opinions and suggestions are appreciated. :)
And no, it's not for me. :P My son just got accepted to a college near the beach. I thought a surfboard and wetsuit might make for a good graduation gift.

I went to college near the beach (east coast of Florida). My first year I spent a lot of my spare time at the beach. My second year I scheduled all my classes for afternoon and evening so I could be surfing at sun-up. My third year I was out on my ass. Of course your son may not be as weak-willed as I am.

That reminds me of the 40 year old virgin when he was with the drunk girl that made him blow into the breathylizer in her car. She fell asleep at the wheel and smoked 4 cars and spun a 360 and woke up and said...that fucker came out of nowhere!

?!?WTF?!?........I guess you had to be there!?! :|

Here's another one I especially like.

    Sample advice:

Among the most important skydiving gears you must have is a parachute. Nobody will ever be that bold to jump out of a plane, thousands high up without a parachute to back him up. No amount of mattresses can save your life with the impact of such a fall.

You do not simply get out of a thousand miles up there jet plane only to jump after doing the sign of the cross. Skydiving is also an extreme sport in the sense that you never know what you’ll likely expect when you are a thousand miles up and floating in the air.

The web is a wondrous place.

Wouldn't a big pile of old mattresses be considerably less expensive than eveyrone having to buy their own equipment? Maybe the bugs can be worked out someday.

Any photos ? My uncle was a flight instructor in the old T-6's ; Have had a warm spot in my heart for them.(I still want to jump one though)

Here's a couple of REAL T-6's from "back in the day" at Bartow Air Base, Florida. My dad worked there in the 50's for a civilian contractor.:)

and it's a six cell? Am I seeing that right? How many other ram air canopies were even numbered cells? What other than 5, 7, 9 and 11 cell are there for skydiving specifically? (Re: the 11 cell. I once packed for Patrick DeGayardon when he was jumping the only 11 cell thing made for him by Parachutes de France. It's the only one I've ever heard of.)

I made a few jumps on a AR-11 back in the early-mid 90's. That was an 11-cell made by Aerodyne. As I recall, it was a decent canopy with a pretty good glide ratio. Great for those nice long Zhills spots.:)Also, wasn't the Excalibur REALLY a 7-cell with 3 chambers/cell. It was referred to as a 21-cell canopy IIRC.

Harvard's pranks often involve theft, such as the "Sacred Cod of Massachusetts," a five-foot wooden codfish that has hung ceremoniously in the Massachusetts State House since the 18th century. In 1933, students from the Harvard Lampoon, the college's humor magazine, stole the fish...

Huh? I can't imagine a bunch of college students
sitting around a dorm room laughing...
"Dude, we stole a wooden fish.
    It was awesome.
    Yeah, man. Extreme."
    :|

I think that a state that has something called a "sacred cod" would also spawn college students that would think it would be cool to steal it. :)

Red next to yellow, kill a fellow
Red next to black, venom lack.

So which is the one that TK posted? Its got yellow bands next to both the red and the black bands.

Red touches yellow, so kill a fellow!
Red doesn't touch black on TK's snake so no joy for Jack.:)
Best to leave both kinds alone....not very many of either.
