    Thank you TomDancs

Come on Mac.... If it bothers you don't open it or read it. I for one am happy to see the brotherhood that his post demonstrates... BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)
  4. Great topic! I would like to add the already great list that is developing out of this thread... --------------------------------------------------- wwarped some useful books... - first aid book - map to the local hospitals - YOUR phonebook tungflik If they are skydivers, make sure they are not wearing skydiving shirts, hats etc. Also no skydiving stickers on the get away car. --------------------------------------------------- SBCMac - Additions to the list - Cell phone (Check that it works in area…) - Radios - First aid kit (Including splints for most common injuries…) Advice Be honest with your ground crew and tell them the following: - They can be arrested for being GC and be charged with the same charges - That things can go wrong (serious injury or death) - Tell them plan and have rendezvous points, including matching stories. All in all, your ground crew should be very aware of what’s going on, what can happen, and what will happen… Michael BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)

Exactly the point... This is where the knot comes into play, because you can prematurely break the cord with the wrong/poorly done knot. BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)

Not to mention, here are the 612 search results that talk about BASE static line jumps on this site: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=forum_22&search_string=static+line&search_type=AND&search_fields=sb&search_time=&search_user_username=&sb=score&mh=25 It took me 5 seconds to pull these via the built in search on this site... My bad... The actual experiment that I was taught is below: “ Conduct a simple experiment to demonstrate this dynamic force. Attach a 9 foot bridle to a fixed point (the ceiling). At the bottom, attach a 5lb packing weight. The two are attached by a 80lb break cord. The 5lb weight is dropped from the ceiling and allow to freefall 9ft. The 5lb weight will generate enough dynamic force to break the 80lb break cord.” Again… Dave – these are basic principles you should know before BASE jumping… Michael BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)

Absolutely 980… Thank you for your post… Dave Goldsmith – You have numerous resources up here to answer your questions… If you would have asked me, I would have told you about dynamic force… If you drop a 5lbs weight at desk high level, it will break 80lbs cord. Again, as 980 said, do your research before asking such basic questions… Michael BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)
  9. Jeff, Please post pics... I would love to see the suit... Thanks, Michael BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)

  13. Well there is nothing to jump here in Seattle ... Well, if you do come this way... Drop me a PM on the dates... We will be happy to show you around... BM P.S. If you do though... Please PM me more details about your experience. Thanks! BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)

    Amsterdam...

Hey all, I just got back from Amsterdam and saw so many beautiful cranes and buildings... Anyone jumping in the Amsterdam area? And how high profile is jumping there? Thanks, Michael BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)
  18. Maybe for legal objects but definitely not high profile objects… On the flip side of the coin and if you really think about it, you are regulated now. Ask yourself, if you were on an object that is “so called” not either legal or illegal can a cop us a catch 22 law to bust you? Of course they can… So in general, you are being regulated whether you like it or not… Just don’t get caught :)… I beg to differ... Bank robberies have become easier to do these days then back in the day; now you can simply use a note instead of a gun… Not to mention, we are not the fish they are worried about frying. If more thefts or vandalism took place on the objects we jump then that’s a different story. As long as we stick to only stealing altitude, the ROI (Return On Investment) will never exceed the cost of catching a BASE jumper on a high profile site. Economics 101… Granted there is the argument that becoming more aware of BASE jumpers will simply prove to the public where flaws already exist. And again, the movie Fight Club does an awesome example of explaining a Corporation’s greed… It takes a HUGE lawsuit and many people dieing before Corporations will spend money on something they don’t have to. Even post 9/11... For example, you should see this great video I have of jumping an Internalional Air Traffic Control Tower in America post 9/11... Michael BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)

  24. Just curious if anyone has recommendations on how to fold or care for the V1 when your not flying it. Meaning, has anyone had any problems with the ribs in the wings? Thanks! Michael BATMAN - (A.K.A. SBCmac ...)
