    ***Hi rush,

Obama did not pick a direction everyone can live with.

I think that is true of any politician.

Would you pick this 'direction:' Muslim Women Wearing Hijabs Assaulted Just Hours After Trump Win

IMO Trump's actions in the campaign is what is bringing this type of crap out into the forefront.

    Jerry Baumchen

Ok, so of the three incidents mentioned one was a false report, one was a run of the mill street mugging, and the third was unknown. Most likely just some jackass trying to pull the scarf off her head.

Hardly wat I would call a new wave of Islamophobia.

But it's all Trumps fault. If he had lost none of those would have happened.:S

    >Now if I change that word from bitch to nigger I get a huge different response. I just
    >might get my ads kicked, or worse.

Right. Or change it to "cunt" and you will also get a very different response - especially if there are women there. Why is that? Why is it worse to refer to a woman by a term describing part of the female anatomy than to a female dog? Because of how it is used in society; "cunt" is used specifically to offend. Saying "but no, you CAN'T be offended; calling you a cunt is no more offensive than me calling you an ovary!" might just also get your ass kicked (or pepper sprayed, or if they're more mature types, just shunned.)

Now try talking to that group and instead of saying "nigger" say "he's a cotton-picking idiot." You'd probably get a laugh, even though "cotton picker" was a pre-civil-war racial slur. Why wouldn't they be offended by a racial slur? Because over the past century almost no one has used that to try to offend people. A great many people have used "nigger" specifically to try to offend.

That's why some words are offensive and some aren't - because people use them specifically to offend. If this bothers you, then start a campaign to get people to stop using it offensively, and its power to offend (and outrage) will fade, just as "cotton picking" has.

    Keep moving Thoose goal posts.

    >No your example is based off of friendship or stranger not race.

Ding ding! You got it in one!

And THAT will continue. And no amount of people saying "but if two friends can say 'nigger' to each other, then I should be able to call them 'niggers' too!" will change that.

I can see the point you are trying to put across. Now I am not trying to justify why I should be able to say nigger because I don't say that word verry often and when I do it is in a conversation like this.

But the word bitch and nigger are not treated any where near the same. I as a white male can stand in a group of people and complaint about some bitch ripping me off or how some hitch at work makes my life misserable because of her demands. And get replies of they understand and there is All ways a few that will make you life misserable.

Now if I change that word from bitch to nigger I get a huge different response. I just might get my ads kicked, or worse.

I am not defending use of either but they are on different planes of offensivness.

    >How is that not also racist?

Same reason that "bitch" when used between two female friends is not sexist - but is when used towards a woman by a stranger (usually a man.)

To Bolas: restricting magazine size to 2 would not be a restriction on the second amendment. They didn't even have guns that could shoot more than two bullets in succession when it was written.

yes they did the first machine gun was patented in 1718 the Puckle gun

    >Actually they do require verification of the purchasers home state.

What federal law requires private sellers to verify the purchaser's home state?

Where did I say it was federal law it is state and therefore the PC on it changes from state to state. But the GCA of 1968 makes interstate transfer without going through a ffl illegal

    >So the argument that "people in Chicago could avoid the ban by going to a gun store
    >in Indiana" is a flat out lie.

He didn't say that. He did say that it would be good to ensure uniformity in the laws, so you can't avoid gun laws simply by crossing a city boundary or state line.

If Colorado passes a "background check with EVERY sale" then people in Colorado could indeed get around that law by going to a gun show in Wyoming and doing a private purchase from someone there - since those do not require a background check, or indeed any verification of a purchaser's home state.

If, however, the US had a "background check with EVERY sale" law, then they could not do that.

Actually they do require verification of the purchasers home state. So if you think making a background check manadtory will stop that you are dreaming.
There are laws in place here in California all puchases have to go through a ffl. You would not believe the number of people I have delt with that think it is ok to sell to anybody. Just have them bring the money and here's your gun. And we have had this law for about 20 years.
Just cause you pass a law does not mean it is enforcable or will be followed. What we need is the ones we have now be enforced.

*********And right along with that is the fact that "assault weapons" (military style semi-auto) kill a bit over 200 people per year.

You forgot the mantra: "Guns DON'T kill people....."

Naah. I don't play silly, sematic, "one-up" games on here.

    Besides, guns don't kill people.

    Bullets do. :)

It's actually the chemical reaction that happens inside the bullet.
    Let's ban chemical reactions!

In ordinary bullets there is no chemical reaction. In a tracer, api, apit, spotter, raufaus yes ordinary bullet no.

Maybe this makes me a ball monitor but last week while in Vegas I had some ahole lay on his horn behind me as soon as the light turned green. I just sat there chuckling until it cycled to yellow and creeped forward enough to be legal and left the line as it turned red. Pussy did not have the balls to run the red.

Yep I've met you on the road or at least ones like you. You think you were legal in that move. But impeading the flow of traffic is a citable offense. :S:S

Driving down the 2 lane street near my house. I'm side by side with another car and we are both doing the speed limit. Ahole comes up on my ass an rides it. I maintained pace with the car next to me until just before the photo radar cameras coming up ahead of us. Just before the radar I put on my turn signal, slowed a bit to get room to move over and did so. He was so pissed he did exactly what I expected he would. He floored it and went speeding past way over the limit. Seeing him get his picture taken made my day.

Where you a ball monitor in school too? It amazes me at the number of people that I encounter on a daily basis that will pace themselves with the car next to them just to keep the cars behind them behind them. When it would not effect them one bit to either speed up and pull over then resume same speed, or slow down pull over and resume same speed.
I travel 50 miles one way for work in southern California and it never fails I will get behind a wall of 3 cars side by side matching speeds between 65 to 70 mph keeping every body behind them for 10 to 20 miles at least 2 Or 3 times a week.
65 to 70 on southern California freeways is below average. Theese people cause the unsafe conditions of making people have to try to get around them rather then just get in the same lane and tool along at thier desired below average speed. But I guess that is not passive agressive enough for them.

    >I did do a search for "Russians Hack DNC" and came up with multiple hits - so - it seems legit.

I did a search for "turtle speed is a Russian spy." Results - About 14,600,000 results (0.69 seconds)

I get zero results when I google " turtle speed is a Russian spy". now leave the quotes off and yes your results are accurate, But then google is looking for any use of those words not the entire statement. Which I am sure you were already aware of.

I once came across an article on cases where citizens with guns supposedly did some good for a change:

"12 times mass shootings were stopped by good guys with guns"
    http://controversialtimes.com/issues/constitutional-rights/12-times-mass-shootings-were-stopped-by-good-guys-with-guns/

(I didn't get around to reading it yet and can't vouch for the site, or article accuracy in any way.)

And many many more less then mass shootings have been stoped by good guys with a gun.

  16. SivaGanesha

People talk about how guns are useful in self defense. But how come in all of these mass shooting scenarios--of which Orlando is the latest and most deadly but hardly the first--there never seems to be a case where the gunman is stopped by someone else (except law enforcement) with a gun?

We never seem to hear the following scenario: a gunman opened fire in a public place. He killed two people, but an armed civilian member of the NRA standing nearby stopped the carnage by shooting him dead. Had it not been for the quick action of this armed citizen, the death toll would surely have been far higher.

If guns are so useful for self defense, how come this alternative scenario never seems to play out? These gunmen often end up getting shot dead, but usually only by either the police or by their own hands.

Another uninformed poster. It has happened more then once. The news Dosent report it as agresive as the shootings for whatever reasons.
And most people that are concealed carring are also informed about the lawsuits to follow. Yes in a shooting like we had in Orlando the other night, I would hope they would do something instead of worrying about lawsuits. But it is a gun free zone seeing as how they Ser've alchahol.

More then once on here you have stated that welfare fraud was litle and not something to be concerned about as opposed to someone needing it and being denied because of toughening welfare fraud laws.

All of a sudden one person changes that. Does that mean I can count you as somebody that thinks we need harsher welfare fraud laws?

Nope. The laws are working just fine in this case. They are stopping fraud by a criminal, which is what they are designed to do.

You seem unsure of the takeaway from this story. Let me put it in terms you might better understand. Let's say Joe Smith opens up a diner. He's anti-gun. He has "NO GUNS ALLOWED" signs all over the store, and exhorts his patrons to vote for gun control measures. His bathrooms feature "toddler killed by gun" newspaper clippings. He has menu items like "gun nut omelet" which sometimes contain bits of lead. You're not supposed to eat them; it's a joke. The menu even says "eat this only if you think bullets are safe!"

Then it is discovered that he has a small arsenal at his home, carries a handgun at his diner, and in fact is in violation of CCW laws.

Would your response be that we need harsher gun laws? Or would you think he was a hypocrite?

My response would be to not patronize that establishment, and to inform the FDA that he is adding lead to the food let them do thie r job.
As far as the rest it is his buiseness he can be Antigun in his buiseness that is his choice. It may bring in more money for him, it could cost him money.
Are you saying people should only conduct thie r business on thie r true believes. We have had some bakers do that and get sued. So your rebuttal does not hold true to the orignap story, but nice spin.

    Diner's 'Dictator Obama' special

    March 9, 2016

SYRACUSE, N.Y — At the American Diner, you can order a "Dictator Obama/NYS Special (King Cuomo)" plate of eggs and toast for $3.59 plus tax.

But the tax is going to be $27.99, according to the menu.

Michael Tassone serves up a Conservative brand of politics and humor, along with his burgers and eggs, at the little diner in the Syracuse suburb of Liverpool.

His unusual menu - which also includes "The Anti-Michelle Obama Don't Tell Me What To Eat Or Feed My Kids Burger" - attracted the attention Tuesday of Fox News, which published a story about him on the homepage of its website.

Ever since then, the diner has been hopping with new customers and news reporters.

"I'll sell you as many as you want," Tassone said of his two eggs and toast "Dictator Obama" special.

Dictator Obama on Liverpool diner menu The American Diner in Liverpool has a menu item entitled the "Dictator Obama". Owner Michael Tassone has become a celebrity of late drawing media attention from around the country

But nobody at the American Diner orders the "Dictator Obama" because you can get the same egg and toast plate as a daily special for $2.49, laughed waitress Dawn Reynolds.

In a highly partisan presidential election year, the diner's unusual menu is drawing in customers.

Steve and Ashley Reininghaus drove 20 miles Wednesday to eat at American Diner after reading about it on the Fox News website. "The reason why we came here was to show support for like-minded people," said Steve Reininghaus, explaining that he thinks Obama has been a "horrid" president.

"It's very refreshing for people to stand up for true American values," his wife said, as the couple munched on burgers for lunch and laughed at the Obama items on the menu.

Both Republicans, they said they plan to vote for Donald Trump for president.

"I'm just a little guy flipping pancakes, trying to make a living," said Tassone, a burly guy wearing a blue "Wake Up America" t-shirt promoting the national day of prayer, beige cargo shorts and sneakers.

"Guys like me are a target. Because I speak the truth," he said, explaining his reluctance to be photographed or interviewed.

The outside of Tassone's restaurant is decorated with "Repeal the SAFE Act" signs, referring to the tough gun control law that Cuomo pushed through, and "Don't Tread on Me" and American flags. Inside, the decor includes an Uncle Sam statue, Three Stooges photos, and a "Chia Obama" box depicting the president as a chia plant.

Tassone's menu says "We encourage legal carry on premises" and "We encourage prayer/grace."

Tassone says he's enrolled as a Conservative Party voter.

Tea Party diner owner who trashed ‘Dictator Obama’ on his menu busted for welfare fraud

    RawStory
    Brad Reed
    03 Jun 2016 at 08:20 ET

A diner owner in New York who became locally famous for trashing President Obama on his menus has pleaded guilty to, of all things, welfare fraud. Syracuse.com reports that Michael P. Tassone was sentenced last month to a one year conditional discharge after pleading guilty to defrauding the government out of more than $23,000 in welfare payments.

“It was Medicaid fraud,” explained Senior Assistant District Attorney Michael Kasmarek. “They had failed to disclose income on their application. As a result they obtained Medicaid benefits they weren’t entitled to, from May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2011.”

Tassone was featured on Fox News earlier this year because his diner’s menu featured items such as the “Dictator Obama/NYS Special (King Cuomo),” which is a plate of eggs and toast that costs $3.59, plus an exorbitant “tax” of $27.99. Other menu items include the “The Anti-Michelle Obama Don’t Tell Me What To Eat Or Feed My Kids Burger,” and the restaurant itself is adorned with Tea Party “Don’t Tread On Me” flags. The menu also encourages patrons to lawfully carry weapons while in the diner.

It seems Tassone didn’t hate the government enough to not fraudulently try to acquire Medicare benefits, however, and he actually had a more serious felony welfare fraud charge dropped against him in exchange for his misdemeanor plea.

  19. Well that is old news to me. Not that they are totally correct with where the accents originated from. I think it expands to more then the few they mentioned.
It's no suprise people pick up an accent from where they live. I grew up a Navy brat and lived from Hawaii to Massachusetts and many in between and north or south. I moved 13 times by 5th grade. You should have seen people trying to figure out where I was from by my accent. Now after being in southern California for 30 years I don't hear the question where are you from near as much.
But a woman with a deep southern accent will melt me in my tracks.
