***I find these offerings amusing. I've been reading Selco on survival for a few years now. He is a man who survived the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His main theme is that whatever you have planned will be of no use, at least not for long. You have to learn to live on a day by day basis as a savage hunter.

"A country boy can survive." ~Hank Williams, Jr

Jr would be in severe DT’s with in the first week of chaos. He’s nothing but a gutter alcoholic.

You assume he knows nothing about making alcohol. It is pretty easy.

  2. I am so sorry to hear this. I never met her in person. But yes she was all ways helpfull and caring. A person I would like to be compared too, although she would probably wish I wasn't.
I wish her the best and will donate.

  3. I made a jump over Elsinore with a copy of the wall street journal. the front page was glued to a piece of cardboard that had cutout handles on each side. The other guy held it close to his chest on exit me holding onto his shoulders, when stable I reached in and grabbed the handle and we presented it to the camera. went well on first try he held onto it during deployment, but even if dropped it would flutter down pretty harmlessly.

    The cardboard was double layer.

I am NOT OK with private sales with just 'paperwork'. The paperwork should include the transfer of weapons and accessories through your local LEO, since the background check would be required anyway for ALL sales. ALL of them.

Sale is arranged, guns and accessories go to LEO for escrow, LEO gets to background check and record the sale, serial numbers, makes and models and names/details of both parties, and then buyer gets to pick up at the LEO. Both buyer and seller get a background check to have databases kept current.

That controls the sale, the recording, the paperwork, the background check and the waiting period for that matter. A single existing entity that simply has some new record keeping.

ICE, DMVs, LEOs already share tons of information databases on people for a variety of DHS purposes, and there is no reason that these databases cannot serve as the source for background checks as they are federal and cover more people.

Yes because LEO Is so underworked now. Let's have them preside over gun transfers too. Do you have any idea how many guns they would have on site at one time even with only a two day wait. What facilities would LEO have to store them?

When electric cars become affordable, they can be the 2nd car for the commute to work.

    I think that we are getting there . . . . .

Around me you can get a Fiat EV for $69 a month, 3 year lease. They are lousy little cars, but if your goal is to get to work really, really cheaply - they are a good solution.

I'm sure it works out to more than that. That is creative pricing. At your price it works out to less than 2,500.00 for three years. With knowing Fiat that may well be what it is worth, but not what you will get it for before any subsidies or rebates.

Too many companies dont seem to realize that if they have employees, unpredictable though they may be, more people will have money to buy their shit. I'd put beer companies high on the list of companies that should realize that.

    Wendy P.

Beer companies realize people will buy their beer even if the people buying it don't have money to buy food or toilet paper. They are selling something that destroys life's and kills people. But they make money.
Now some at the company might care. The bottom line they want more people to drink more so they make more money.

The proposal I saw divides CA into three states - northern california, southern california and LA. (San Diego stays with Southern CA.) Which I like because then we can be in a different state than LA. But really it's all just a paper game.

Northern Cal doesn't want us (SF). But us not wanting to be with LA is just shameless hypocrisy. We're really talented there.

And 3 states...the rest of the union has absolutely no interest in giving us two more senators, certainly won't go for 4. Such a waste of energy trying.

There was one put forth a couple years ago to break it up into 7 different states.
The new one I could back. But it will go nowhere LA and San Fran ain't giving up control of water suply to another state.

So Trey Gowdy, who already wasted some $(tens of millions) on the fruitless Benghazi committees, joins the gang of scumbags:

Slow news day? Lets trot something that was reported on almost two months ago.
And I also think any setlements should be out of tier pocket not ours.

I'm reminded of a cleaning lady, who when exiting a major international power corporation's Western Hemisphere Network Operation Center, instead of pushing the button to open the doors, pushed the emergency power shut down button.
The entire half of the planet went off-line for about 120 minutes.

Shit happens when humans are in the mix.

Not doubting the event, but was it really half the planet? That would be one mighty big power outage from one button.

I am on an HOA board and they do serve a purpose - we have been able to get non-operational vechicles removed from homes when its clear that the owner is not going to repair it in a timely manor. We have also addressed issues such as people putting up fences when they are prohibitted and someone from putting stadium spotlights on their outdoor basketball court that were brighter than the fucking sun and turned about 15 homes into a spot that was so bright that it could be seen from the space station. Its easy for them to get out of control but as long as they are pretty up front on their purpose they can serve to protect property values of the residents.

Its actually a requirement around here that if there is a housing development with more than about 20 homes it is required to have a HOA/Civic association as part of it being authorized for developments.

What is a timely manor to repair a vehicle? I have known people to work on a vehicle for 10 or 15 years before fireing it up for the first time.
What is wrong with fences? They make good neighbors. By making it hard to encroach on you.

Three of our packages to family were "Lost in Transit - UNDELIVERABLE" according to Amazon's tracking.

Another one was delivered, but not to the addressee (a nice photo was attached to Amazon's tracking, showing the package outside someone's front door, but whose?)

Go to the Amazon web site and neither of these conditions are covered in the pull-down menus. I mean, if Amazon KNOWS a package was lost in transit, couldn't it provide an automatic "Resend/Cancel" option?

Maybe Bezos should pay more attention to his core business.

Gee who would imagin shipping issues at Christmas time.

Misunderstood breed? That's utter bullshit; they're trash dogs for trash people.

I've spent a long time rehabilitating dogs in some very extreme abuse cases. I don't have time to argue with people who know nothing about the subject, but I will just say I recommend you take some time and volunteer at a local animal rescue. You might actually learn something.
Unfortunately when it comes to Pitts most people all ready have a mindset of if they are bad or just another dog.
My mom has never been around one close, but hates them because of the news stories. Yet loves every other type of animal.
Growing up she had a bear cub for about 6 months , a deer for about a year,a racoon and many other smaller pets. She grew up in a lumber company town.
I still can't get her to see they are another dog. Some good. Some bad.

I wish they would automatically dim at night, regardless of color. Dazzling oncoming drivers is not enhancing safety.

I noticed this the other night. A cop car on the side of the road with blue flashing lights that were so blindingly bright. Maybe a downside to new LED technology.

Or it could be the old eyes. Lot of old people don't like driving at night because of lights.:P

I agree there will never be a completely fraud proof election process. The idealist in me wishes we could but also knows it's not possible.
And unfortunately I would believe the arguements you witnessed. Politics has all ways been full of petty agreements turned into major points.
My question though was "why only mail in ballots?". Where I live if you go to the polls there is paper ballots you mark with a pen. they have them for a recount.
You can call me weird old fashioned or whatever but I like going to the polls and casting my vote, and I have lost a few important pieces of mail in the system before. If it was my ballot I would never even know it was lost. Voting in person I know it is deliverd.

  15. Oh I'm relaxed Normis.
I agree basically with what you say about touching people. Any more in a work place enviorment it should not happen in any way that would be perceived as unwarented by the touchee.
I was in the navy around the same time as you, was a hole snipe. We were verry touchy especially during greadings. I don't think that would go over good in the workplace today.
Like I say Metcalfe may have been overly dramatic there, but has this been an ongoing thing or only this one time? I don't know. If somebody else does it may explain his reaction. Maybe? Maybe not?

I'm curious why do you think that should be the only way to vote?

    See Post #1495.

    Jerry Baumchen

PS) I did not say 'only.'

You did say "only" go back and look. While I agree voting machines should not be electronic. And where I am at it is still pen and paper. But I can see where mail only could be used for voter fraud easily also.

  17. I am not trying to stick up for any one in the particular instance. But isn't unwanted touching a form of harasment. What if Metcalfe was a female and objected to being touched in that manner?
I defiantly think the way Metcalfe addressed the matter was a bit of drama, but do we know if this is the first time or is it ongoing?
I work with a salesman that is constantly touching everyone. I have called him on it but he still does it. I don't work around him often so I have not made a big issue of it but if I worked around him everyday and had to put up with it I would defiantly complain to managment.
