  1. My bad...they are not manufacturing the containers there...sorry..
  2. Good question. I'm going to check Into that. Below is a pic of the container I'll be ordering I found out that parts are available here in the U.S. South Carolina at NYLON-AMERICAN RIGGING. I just found out that they are actually building containers in South Carolina
  3. Good question. I'm going to check Into that. Below is a pic of the container I'll be ordering
  4. Thanks...nice rig...great pics....I just made up my mind.....I will be putting in an order.
  5. Anyone jumping a vortex....how does it compare to the big name containers as far as build quality.....thanks for your input
  6. I AGREE WITH HOWARD JOHNSON AGREEING WITH GABBY JOHNSON!!
  7. I started jumping in 92 and the Stiletto was one of the highest performance canopies on the market...at least if my memory isn't failing me.....
  8. Cool....what are you currently jumping.....thanks
  9. Microlines (Spectra lines) shrink over time, so the excess is used over time. . One more time in an attempt to clear up the misconception that does not seem to want to go away here. On main canopies the manufacturer DOES NOT determine how long the total brake lines will be. It is up to the end user working with the rigger doing the installation to decide what length works best. In most cases the best thing to do is to install them long. After some test flights you can determine how much to shorten them. All the s-fires I've seen and jumped shipped with Vectran kines. Fewer people are choosing Spectra these days for most canopies. Line shrinkage is not a factor here. Gowlerk you say you have jumped the S-Fire....how many jumps have you had on them...what has the wing load been....and how did you like the canopy....how is the flare....can you 2 stage the flare....thanks for your input.
  10. There are a large number of factors that go into making a canopy perform correctly. The length of a jumpers arms, their risers, how they sit in the harness in relation to the risers and several other things determine a good length for brake lines. As a manufacturer, shipping a canopy with too much is better as shortening a line is easier than replacing one. My rigger/instructor worked with me to get my brake lines as short as possible without deforming the canopy when I use front risers. I feel like that is a good starting point. That makes sense....you can always make them shorter...but ya can't make them longer without replacing them...thanks for helping me see the light.
  11. Why would the manufacturer of the canopy not shorten the break lines themselves. If they knew it would increase the effency of the flare it seems like they would.
  12. This from the man that invented it. https://youtu.be/z-WBBLAgE_s
  13. Thanks Urie for the input....I am looking forward to trying one out in March
  14. Hi I was wondering how you like it or hate it and why....how are the openings (hard, soft, long sniveling) how's the flare on no wind days....thanks
  15. Come on come out of the closet....I know you'r here
  16. Thanks for your insight....I'm going to Z-Hills in March to demo the sfire , safire 3 and the sabre 2.....you said you were waiting for gear..what did you end up getting...thanks Jim
  17. Anyone jumping an S-Fire....what do you think of it, openings..flying...landing...what kind of flare does it have....any video would be great...very little on youtube....thanks.
  18. Would be nice if they offered both...and let the jumper decide what they want or feel comfortable with.... I guess you could always just get a bag and use it.. but would be better if company offered both.
  19. Because semi stowless bags are the new fashion. People are convinced that they will get cleaner, on heading openings. If a manufacturer does not have one available their sales will suffer. With the use of semi-stowless bags, there are variables that affect the controlled deployment of parachute suspension lines, including canopy size selection & materials, line types, packing techniques, etc. As more of our customers have ordered semi-stowless bags, we have seen inconsistencies on the openings while using these bags. This is a new situation we have not seen on the thousands of Icon containers equipped with the standard traditional elastic stow closure. Based on these reports, Aerodyne has performed additional tests on the design of this semi-stowless bag in different conditions. These conditions accounted for a wide variety of variables such as canopy sizes related to the bag size, types of canopy fabrics, types of lines, opening speeds, and more importantly a variation of canopy packing techniques that we understand are used in the field. Through this additional testing we have determined that conditions can exist causing a premature release of lines from the bag. This uncontrolled deployment of lines may cause variations in opening characteristics, and could lead to lines being caught on the container or jumper. Doesn't sound like new is better....no problems with original....problems with new design and having to fix them...I'll stick with old....sometimes new for the sake of new is not always better.
  20. I don't understand why they are pushing something that's not broke....why not just go back to the standard bag.
  21. Hi Ares...you say you have a container with a tempo 210 reserve...you need to find out from the container manufacturer what size main will fit in it.....if it could take a 190 to 210 size main I'd recommend a Pulse 230 as this is a low bulk parachute that would pack up around the size of a 210 or slightly smaller...but I'd check again with the container manufacturer if that would work. You say your weight is 236....that puts your exit weight at around 266 give or take a few pounds....the a Pulse 230 would be more appropriate for you IMO.....just my thoughts...good luck and have fun.
