  1. Apologies if my reply to Ron unintentionally offended, I should not have made a sweeping generalisation about a huge country like the US. I spent time in Toronto, and Calgary in Canada, and in Los Angeles in the US. I was even in LA during the race riots in 1992 and obviously the availability of firearms and crime is an issue. Given a perceived insult from Ron about Canada, I made a sweeping generalisation about the US in Canada's defence which was unfair. Apologies.
  2. Um, what? You seem to have very little knowledge of life outside the US in general. China and liberalism? What are you smoking? I've lived both in the US and Canada, and in my opinion life in Canada is far, far better than in the US.
  3. Did you even read the article? In the same article:
  4. Hi Artur, That's an interesting idea, but as LeeroyJenkins said people in CRW already use bluetooth headsets. However, for freefall and windtunnel, better noise cancellation would probably be neccessary and you seem to have the resume for that! We at AON2 will be watching your project with interest
  5. Given that I was born in a country under dictatorship at the time, yes I agree people can live just fine without free speech. Free speech is not a requirement for "living just fine" (which can be interpreted in many, many ways) it's a requirement for a democracy. Dictionary definition of democracy. Was my phrasing unclear?
  6. Free speech is a requirement for democracy. Democracy, by definition, is choosing government and leaders through a vote. If there is no free speech, then voting (a form of speech) against the current government can be disallowed. Therefore if that right is taken away, it ceases to be a democracy. Would you like to discuss another item in the Bill of Rights? So why do you need a gun?
  7. Yes it will for the X2. However Galileo is only expected to reach Full Operational Capability (FOC) in 2019.
  8. Technically, the GPS module in X2 can have an update frequency of up to 18 Hz too, but I see little benefit in using the maximum frequency. What would have been nice is L5-band GPS, but the signal has just been made available and there aren't any chips out for that yet
  9. The X2 can support up to 10Hz GPS update frequency, but it will dynamically change the update frequency to optimise battery life. Most of the time it will use 1Hz update frequency. And agreed, we're quite glad there's a lot of competition in the market - the main winner will be the skydiving consumer! And I'm not sure what the features of the new Flysight will be but it looks like Bluetooth will be a core feature.
  10. Although X2 will be extremely versatile, it will be more like a swiss army knife designed to do a lot of things, but there is an advantage to doing only one thing and doing it well. So X2 will be able to do basic swoop analysis, but a dedicated device like the Flysight will have higher sampling rates and better accuracy. In fact, we at AON2 have been coordinating with Flysight on the development of the X2 and the Flysight 2 with the aim of making them compatible
  11. Nope, that was for the final product "One". But as I said, they changed those terms after a day (22nd December) after a few people commented on their facebook page.
  12. When it first came out their T&C's had something about "You cannot resell this altimeter without approval of Dekunu" and "Transfer of ownership...may incur an administration fee" however in the current terms it's now gone. They can change the terms and conditions without notice, so maybe keep checking as they might become more favourable if you want to buy it. However, it could go the other way without notice too...
  13. No worries, it wasn't taken as such. I completely agree.
  14. Hi Max! What skytribe said makes sense. It's too early to tell how either will perform. I do have some idea about the X2 since I'm involved in the development but I'm biased of course
  15. Agree with points above, humans produce nowhere near the energy needed to maintain level flight, much less climb. Additionally, birds/insects/bats don't just flap their wings up and down - they flap them in a figure-8 motion, rotating the tips on both the upward and downward stroke. Just flapping something up and down will produce zero lift. This looks like a strange wing with a low aspect ratio, so L/D ratio would also be not very good.
  16. Yuri, I'm Arthur from AON2 Ltd. We think we've solved the screen problem in direct sun issue, do you want to get involved with the development of our X2 flight computer? PM me your details and we can talk
  17. Arthur Amarra, for altimeter company AO(N²) Ltd. (Bristol, United Kingdom)
  18. Your case is exactly why we designed Brilliant Pebbles! At least the wait will be shorter if the audible is cheaper, right?
  19. I love my cookie G3, and if you're into tunnel flying or freeflying, just look at all the competition level flyers, they're all wearing G3s. For audibles, my company makes the cheapest audible on the market, Brilliant Pebbles: www.aon2.co.uk/brilliant_pebbles I can vouch that it works well with a G3 because that's what I jump It also works with Phantom and Kiss helmets. By the way, we're now working on an extremely advanced digital altimeter called X2, although it will only be released towards end of the year or possibly start of 2018.
  20. Thanks for everyone's feedback! We've actually released a minor update now, which improves the temperature compensation code making it more accurate and resistant to the very slow drift in sensor readings due to temperature changes. I highly suggest all users to update to the latest firmware. As of now you can only update the firmware using a PC or laptop app, the android app doesn't have the ability to update the firmware yet (we're working on it). We're hoping to release the option to turn climb beeps off soon, this feature is now under testing as we want to make sure people can update smoothly.
  21. I don't think I've said that we don't see value in any of the features mentioned in this thread...could you be more specific? We're currently working on hard deck alarms, adding an option to turn off the climb beeps, and the app showing last battery level among others. There's actually nothing stopping anyone from reprogramming the audible with their own firmware, all that's needed is the AVR109 protocol. Connecting it to a PC shows as a USB-CDC device, and connecting and disconnecting at 1200 baud will kick it into bootloader mode. The microcontroller is an AVR Atmega32u4.
  22. Thanks Max and Craig! I haven't had much time to check this thread as I had a lot of work shipping audibles and improving the software - our app now works in several locales and is improving every day :) I'll try to check this every week or so, but if anyone wants to ask anything urgent just drop me an email at [email protected].
  23. Any way you'd be willing to open source the code and/or allow guest developers? There's a few of us here that know how to write some code and are interested in contributing to such a project... Hi Iyosha, Thanks for your interest! What sort of involvement did you have in mind?
  24. Hi degeneration, As Craig has said, you can set up to 20 alarms each accurate to 1 metre - try that with a Pro-track or Optima. You can also set altitudes up to 29,999 feet (the Pro-track maxes out at 9900, the Pro-track 2 which is £275 maxes out at 19900). Many people who bought one are raving about how easy it is to use. Our target market was recently-qualified skydivers, as we want to make audibles more accessible to people who don't have them yet. Obviously you have several audibles already, and don't seem to be our target market, so I hope you don't take offence if we don't spend much effort trying to sell it to you
  25. We've now started testing new features - canopy speed detection! We've also released a new version of the app which can update the device firmware, so when we've finished testing these new features it will be an automatic notification of the update.
