  1. You probably know that you are opening a big can of worms here..... I'll just get the popcorn in the meantime
  2. The ring you see can be removed but take great care when removing it that whatever tool you using dont slip and leave a nice big scratch on the lens. It takes some patience, a good grip in the hands and skill. Its a snap ring that sets outwards, so you will have to use something to lift one of the open ends out of the groove that it seats in and once its lifted out just continue lifting the rest until you get to the other end. When you about 3/4 way around it will basicly come out by itself. I removed mine for the exact same reason why you want to remove urs. Assembling is basicly a reverse of what you did when taking it apart just a whole lot easier. You can also when assembling it turn the film so the orientation suits you better. Good luck
  3. Does anyone have more info on the new Drift thats gonna get launched early next month ? On their FB page there is all the usual marketing specs which all look very impressive, was just wondering if someone around here had their hands on one with the testing phase to give some kind of user feedback.
  4. Is it just me or is the harness a bit to big for you. Perhaps you didnt tighten the legstraps enough.
  5. Getting my pro rating to do demo jumps has been my primary goal since i did my 1st jump. Dont have it yet but its so close i can smell it. Done a whole lot of fs jumps mainly for licence requirements and to have fun with friends. Couple of freeflying jumps but realised its gonna take more jumps that i can afford to do, to get reasonable good at it so thats also put asside. During all this i have developed a new love for camera work, which is now all i do and want to do (Except for pro rating). My friends and my wife dont even bother to ask if i wanna join them in a fs jump coz they know my answer gonna be, "i'll take the camera slot". The satisfaction i get to be there in the right spot to video them is more satisfying than anything else i have tried in skydiving. Next step is tandem cam which is also like in 20 odd jumps away to fullfill the requirements. And the best part is i get to sit in the open door most of the time to altitude and to be on the outside barely hanging on the outside of the plane for exit.
  6. Work your ass off Party less Dont have debt Stay single !!!!!!!!
  7. AMEN !!!!!!!!! Its what been keeping me going for the past couple of years. Didnt had any adictions (except for buying new gear), but i know that if it wasnt for skydiving i would have been a totally different person and it wouldnt have been a nice person. My advice normally to non-skydivers that say "i dont feel worthy" or "i cant carry on with life anymore the way it is", is come experience skydiving and you will see your whole view on life will change.
  8. I wouldnt say a hypeye is compulsory but it is a very handy tool to have, especially when starting out with camera flying. There is no worse feeling than to realise after a jump the camera was never on record. You will have more important (safety checks) things to do prior to exit than to get carried away with a camera that you are not sure if its recording or not. With a Hypeye or similar indicator you know what the camera's status are. I once had a jump where i was out the door already and in the cam slot when i saw the cam was still on standby. I quickly pressed the record button and safe myself from embarresment.
  9. My brand new Vortex which i received mid 2014 had the DSF rings on them. Been working with all kinda metals for past 13 years and the rings immediatly caught my eye for not having the stainless "look". Did a magnet test on them and the magnet holded on to them quite strongly. Only hardware where the magnet not holded on to was the buckles where chest and legstraps tighten. They did had a stainless look. I questioned the dealer who i ordered it and he said no it is stainless rings. Got rid of the rig coz of this issue and another one which is not related to this post. Now im much happier after ordering a rig with good track record and made in USA.
