  1. Dawn - I dont really get your point. Walls or no walls - makes no difference whatsoever regards airspeed or quality. Ron - Walls or no walls is a criteria that I can follow for preference.... hopefully we can get you here one day so that you can check us out as much as I would love to.... I dont hold much hope of me getting into Ft. Bragg One thing I will say is that our tunnel like Bragg was built at a time where some of the best minds had alot of resources to create tunnels. We cant really take credit from the scientists that built our facility in 1950. Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  2. Not sure what features you would be comparing to say that its hard to be 'better' I know alot of people that have trained in Bragg - and also with us.... and they all without exception no longer see Bragg as 'meca'! Appologies for the shameless boasting - but I am obviously a little proud of our baby Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  3. Thats cus youve not tried the better ones Ron Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  4. So why dont we get an abbreviation?! Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  5. Hi Mike, Sounds strange! - not something I have seen.... can you let me know the version of browser / OS / flash etc thats on your machine pls (PM me) and I will get our guys to look into it.... We should have non-flash version of the site there soon too. As for email - not seen probs with that either (get lots!) try me on [email protected]
  6. Sadly we do have a little gremlin that has risen his head... which has caused us to close for the remainder of this week. We will be open again after the weekend. Because we have had to cancel a few days of bookings we are giving priority to those people to reschedule which is why we arent taking new bookings for near dates until we have got the cancellations back in the diary (only fair that way) So in a few days when we have all the rescheduling done we can take bookings again for before 02/Nov. A bit on the frustrating side just because we have had to disappoint a few people... but we have been running pretty much none stop for the last 4 weeks so I suppose its been a stressful checkout of the equipment! 7. You were looking 'down' so I wanted to cheer you 'up' Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  8. Same weight as me! - and there was gonna be no way I was going to open a tunnel I couldnt fly in Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  9. Hi, Not sure which data you have seen that would make you think this isnt possible! We have had some pretty good FF sessions so far and have gone as far as a five way head down... sit is comfortable and generally speed has never been the limiting factor on what we do. Presently we have restricted our speed as the power levels could be too much! to date the highest speed flights have been made at 1.6MW out of a possible 3.2MW from our motor To date I am pleased to say that not one of the experienced fliers that we have flown with has left us wishing the tunnel was better Guess you'll have to just come and try it out Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  10. I wish... would make for an easy way to restock our shop! Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  11. not wanting to get into too much of a pissing contest but I will just say ahem. Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  12. The helmet sadly as gone to the kit rack in the sky where all good helmets go... Yeah... shame about the damn strong pound! cant argue with that really... but could maybe point out you get a little more space for your money in our chamber so its not really a direct comparison to make...
  13. lol... I do love the way rumours work Partly true... someone's helmet did come off today... and we did stop running for about 45mins just to check things out.... (would be wrong not to) However it would take a hell of alot to break one of our prop blades (if you saw the size of them you would see why this is funny) There is a net at the top of the tunnel to stop things going too high... but the helmet today made one awesome move to slip past the side of it! So in short - Nothings broken
  14. Dont want to throw the cat amongst the pidgeons too much.... But majority of the noise will come from the fan blades for sure! Interesting talk on the net though The noise output from the blades is directly linked to the number of blades/rpm of the fan. With this you get the frequency of the noise which is also a key factor...
  15. Personally I would say that a better statement would be its the best you have flown in Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  16. The turning vanes are several aerofoil shaped curves. The purpose of these is to redirect the air around the 90 degree bend. They offer an amount of turbulance reduction. Check out the UK's website as their are some better photos of the vanes for you to see www.airkix.com - their tunnel is the same design as Colorado
  17. Ok... about time we took part in this one Here's a photo of some playtime during our opening party.... we had an awesome time and some really cool flying Just a glimpse of the blast we had Thanks to Russ Smith for the photo. Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  18. Not so sure that this is something that is so feasible Basically adding any kind of impedance to the output flow in most facilities would increase load on the motors and therefore cost more in energy. It is the same for each flyer you put in the wind.... each additional load adds work for the drive. Takes more energy to create drive than you can harness from it - ie conversion losses etc Damn - and I was on track for creating a perpetual motion machine Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  19. Errm because we havent posted any? Ok - it is a bit of an ommision and I have been far more focused on getting party ready so appologies for my slow delivery of the goods http://www.bodyflight.co.uk/robsit.jpg http://www.bodyflight.co.uk/robsit2.jpg Will take some more photos over the weekend party and hopefully show you some of the worlds best in action!
  20. May be worth a try clearing your cache (tools / options in your browser) as the flash sections in our site are sometimes stored rather than downloaded.. I'll try not to do the technical support line - it works on mine... Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  21. Hi Nick, Pleased you all enjoyed yourselves! We have just put the photo gallery online on our website with a few initial snapshots.... we'll be adding to this shortly and try to get the videos on there soon too.
  22. Did I ever mention that our tunnel is bigger? Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  23. Our tunnel certainly has enough power to fly with gear... and then some
  24. I cant do that - when someone transitions to a head down here we have the power on so they stay where they are Probably hard to say how high in Zurich - as they dont fly high power usually without the walls in place And again - no way I could argue with the scenery or the view from the open jet playfield! We are gonna have to arrange an exchange programme for staff... lol Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  25. Still not convinced on the tallest bit... an open jet doesnt really have a height... and if we are talking about people flying to a max height I think Egypt or Zurich have an ability to throw people to similar distances into the air? I'll let you the dual one - not sure that any other tunnels have a horizontal test section and a vertical... thats kinda unique for sure. Just out of curiosity - is it actually used much? is there measurement equipment or rolls/balances in that area? (Damn starting to sound geeky again)
