  1. This reminded me of something I heard last summer. Golf is statistically the single MOST deadly sport (ie skydiving is safer). Kinda makes you think. Flying Hellfish #470
  2. Thats also a good idea but I still will need to get a rig shipped across the border sooner or later. any ideas? Flying Hellfish #470
  3. Wasn't too sure where to post this but here goes: What is the best way to ship a used rig to Canada. I am looking at buying a rig and need it shipped here so I can have a look at it and possibly purchase it. I don't want to get stuck with huge shipping fees and customs charges and all that. I need to know if I should go with courier or mail (unless there are other choices). Thanks ahead of time for your help. Flying Hellfish #470
  4. "People sound like pansies when they say "soda." And Coke? C'mon now! " Exactly. Its POP and I'm not from Texas either. Go Canada! Flying Hellfish #470
  5. Thanks alot for the replies. I'm definately leaning toward the Silhouette. Flying Hellfish #470
  6. Will the Sabre last longer than the Sil. since it is all ZP? Thanks for all the great replies. Flying Hellfish #470
  7. What are the biggest differences between the Sabre 1 and the Silhouette canopies? If both canopies were the same size, What would the major characteristic and performace differences be? Flying Hellfish #470
  8. I only have 13 jumps and I did PFF with BOC. At first it was diffucult to find the handle, but by AFF level 2, It was second nature. I am happy I learned that way. I also thought that way the way most people learned...oh well. Flying Hellfish #470
  9. Here is a real confidence booster for first timers: (my signature). I heard this one before my first AFF. Flying Hellfish #470
  10. I am a newbie as well. I just finished my aff and got my solo certificate. I found that relaxing is the best adivce for new skydivers. On my first few jumps I was somewhat unstable as well. By relaxing my arms and legs and letting the wind push them into a good arch, I became perfectly stable. It is all psychological, you are jumping out of a plane and that makes any newbie nervous but just forget about that and relax, breathe deep, and enjoy! It will come to you soon. Flying Hellfish #470
  11. Yeah, its too bad about that weather... waiting till march is a bummer Flying Hellfish #470
  12. That is exactly what I think. I learned by by pff and found it to be a very good program. In order for the pff to be good however you need a good DZ with highly trained instructors. At my DZ, the instructor basically pioneered pff so he knew what he was doing. The canopy landings can be tough though. I had only 6 radioed landings before I was doing my own. It turned out that I was pretty good at it but I have seen many students who aren't that good and have some pretty hard landings. The freefall experience of pff is the best part. My first solo was a 40 sec freefall! Man did that feel good!
