  3. priority one get out two get stable into the relative wind three get the drouge out, with over 4000 tandems 1 thing is in my mind be safe do it the same do it safe no bull shit in my opinion if you cant stick with the program that is follow the safe SAFE! system that has been developed dont do tandem if ego demands that you need to step outside the safe way of working into the wind and avoiding a side pin well ............... back loops dive exits et dont have anything to do with tandems o and fear is good it makes you follwo the procedures and stay safe. life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.

  5. hi guys some real good posts thanks, now here is my thoughts first as a tm i want to know were the camman is on exit and what he is going to do in ff and opening. after that he is on his own he can check his own gear and light et i have more to do on my stuff and a pax to worry about and that is way more important. in my mind you can refund a video you cant refund a life. i follow the rules exactly priority one get out into relative wind , two get stable three deploy the drouge no back loops no fancy stuff just pure simplicity, next in drouge fall i do some checks turn into the sun then settle intothe skydive, i dont allow anybody to come in and play tag with the passenger i doont think its nescesary and just adds a risk that is not neaded. as a camera man, i rear float i never ask tell the TM to do anything diffrent, i video the exit on the same level as them throught. next once the drouge is out i flyin smoothly and transition around with the tandem into the sun. i may if its going smooth pop back and up for an over head shot. but not essential on opening i will back of well beyond the swing of the tandem and slightly up as the tandem opens i will sit up and watch then settle in to a back slide to clear the area, opening at 3500. key points are that the tm is the priority i try to leave hem to do the job and deliver the fress meat to the ground unopened as it were. in my mind is the fact that they have far more to worry about than i do so thats how i work. i give them space and time to do that. i do an interview in the plane and on the ground and if there is any playing its up to the TM to creat it as THEY / I are the ones who can read the student SAFETY FIRST. IMO me? tandems over 300 (IE) cam well over the same amount aand im still alive. one more thing if you want to learn video for tandem first be real god at flying formation then flying formation video in a ghost slot then tandem as an obsever without a camera, only then can you stick a helmet on. blue skies life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.
  6. the dvd player you use has to support this function, rather like a cd player that has play options ie repeat song one or repeat all or loop until stoped. that what you mean if so several dvd players have the function right now i am using the pro sound st-9000 ps and it wearks well life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.
  7. ok here are multiple options for you camera guys, if you would like please explain why or why not. the perpose of the poll is to try and convince some vidiots on the dz to do and / or not do some stuff. so if you can spare the time please qualify your responce blue skies and thanks for your time life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.

  10. thanks for correcting me guys. the cable we are talking about is the Yellow i steel wire, coated with Lolon F. used to close the container. sorry dont seem to be able to get the foto to my computer. blue skies life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.
  11. jump shack should have recieved an email about this incident by now, and will be getting the cable in the mail as well. inspection on the ground may not have detected it, it took a good look and a pull on the cable not part of the normal procedurs life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.
  12. tandem malfunction, system racer eliet tandem main firbolt 350 (tandem) instructor had normal jump clean deployment of drouge with student weight of 72 kilos, instrctor weight 84 kilos at 5500k the instructor pulled the primary (left side) drouge release, to no effect. secondry drouge release was then pulled again to no effect. instructor carried out reserve drills (eps) and had a normal deployment of reserve. no injuries this is just advisory. inspection of racer tandem and container revealed that the yellow kevlar cable had broke at the point were it is crimped. the bridle had completly seperated from the loop of the cable resulting in a drouge in tow malfunction. the drouge three rings had been released. the container was still closed due to the kevlar cable still in the closing loop. closing loop on container was inspected and found to be withing correct length and moved freely on ground, this does not of course suggest that it would do so in the air further inspection found two furher sets of racer tandem gear with the potential for the same malfunction at the cable point and the crimps were reinforced, recomendation. all clubs using racer tandem with the kevlar cable crimped may wish to inspect the crimp for damage. the closing loop should be checked for correct length as this MAY have been a factor. please note i am not an employee of jump shack, but hope you find this info important and relivant blue skies. skydiver jerry
  13. sent you a pm to your profile email address hope it helps life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.
  14. you asked the right questions no need to be sorry for that, and you asked in the right way so again no need to be sorry, good luck with your skydives hope you finnish it life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.
  15. HI THERE good luck with your aff! first of all drop zones have a set procedure for dealing with injuries to skydivers, and people asigned to deal with that. students dont usualy get to hear about it until things calm down and the bar light is on the reason is that the wrong info might be passed on, or the dz staff is busy dealing with it. you might see some staff gathered in a huddle discussing it, but generaly they try not to let you worry or get stressed out with whats happening. as for the opperation going on. this is again perfectly normal. i have seen a situation were police and ambulance were on the dz and yet the planes were still flying, (one of the largest dzs in the usa) have you been back to talk to the dz staff? not to jump just to talk? i am sure they will answere any questions you may have, they are there to help you! talk to the CCI or S&TA they can answere your questions in a simple way so that you can learn from the jumpors error. again good luck and blue skies life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.
  16. hi there good luck with the course, you also ask some good questions, some points for you to consider, some drop zones out side the states may say uspa group member, however you should check this and also ask to see the uspa instructors membership card it should clearly state AFF instructor, you can also see for how long they have been a uspa instructor, also look at the gear again some drop zones are forced due to economic considerations to use gear that you may not wish to use. as for the quality of instruction that will depend on your instructor, again ask about refund policy if you elect not to continue, again good luck and blue skies life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.

  18. h there, i have a lot of mals from test jumps and other conditions only about a handfull are on tandems, as has already been said tandems are no more likely to mal than sport rigs, the diffrence is in the size and construction of the gear. the addition of the drouge creats an additional engeneering problem, murphys law says that if it can break it will at the worst possible moment. the addition of the passenger means additional considerations, the main thing about mals on any canopy is to consider what causes them and how to prevent that. i have developed a powerpoint presentation about mals maybe one of the moderators can tell me how to get it out to the public now via this forum. life is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!.

  20. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search An expert is someone widely recognized as a reliable source of knowledge, technique, or skill whose judgment is accorded authority and status by the public or their peers. Experts have prolonged or intense experience through practice and education in a particular field. The opposite of an expert is generally known as a layperson, while someone who occupies a middle grade of understanding is generally known as a technician and often employed to assist experts. A person may well be an expert in one field and a layperson in many other fields. The concepts of experts and expertise is debated within the field of epistemology under the general heading of expert knowledge. In specific fields, the definition of expert is well established by consensus and therefore it is not necessary for an individual to have a professional or academic qualification for them to be accepted as an expert. In this respect, a shepherd with 50 years of experience tending flocks would be widely recognized as having complete expertise in the use and training of sheep dogs and the care of sheep. Another example from computer science is that an expert system may be taught by a human and thereafter considered an expert often outperforming human beings at particular tasks. In law, an expert witness must be recognized by argument and authority. The term is widely used informally, with people being described as 'experts' in order to bolster the relative value of their opinion, when no objective criteria for their expertise is available. The term crank is likewise used to disparage opinions. Academic elitism arises when 'experts' become convinced that only they understand their field of study (or anything at all).
