  1. Send an e-mail to the DZ, they will send you a list of places to stay
  2. A bit off topic here but how did you manage to do half a jump?
  3. I wish season 3 would start here in the UK!

I'd rather nail my testicles to a table than watch that shite!
  5. Jeez, I wish I was as sick as you. I've got a deep vein thrombosis which means that I'm out of things for 6 monthswhile it's being treated with Warfarin. Hope you feel better soon, get a few jumps in for me!
  6. Despite what the doctor I saw said, I have decided to ground myself until things have cleared up. It's better to be pissed off than dead!
  7. Sound advice, looks like a summer on the ground
  8. I had a venogram yesterday, it showed that I have a clot in the popliteal vein in my leg. It also indicated a clot in the iliac vein in my groin. I am currently having daily Fragmin injections and have just started to take Warfarin tablets. I asked the doctor if it was OK for me to jump and he said yes, as long as I tried not to hurt myself (as if I would try). Does anybody else have experience of jumping with a DVT?
  9. I presume that you mean the BPA, not BPS. If the cost of membership was only £50, nobody would be whinging. I paid just short of £200 (joint membership) this year. I agree that fatalities that could be prevented with AADs are unnecessary, but don't lose sight of the fact that the majority of people who die in this sport have a perfectly good canopy above their head.
  10. You sure about that Beth? It was £17 the last time it was there 2 years ago. Having said that, it was worth every penny - it is without doubt the nicest Porter I've ever jumped
  11. My mistake, I thought it was B license and below. Thanks for pointing that out.
  12. You need 200 jumps to get your C, and yes, I do know people who this will affect.
  13. Any views on the first part of my thread regarding mandatory AADs for certain jumpers?
  14. Craig, I read the whole of the text that you have quoted before posting. The way that I read it, we will actually be paying more for a reduced level of cover. I don't know the answer to this, but is there a legal obligation to have 3rd. party insurance?
  15. Thats another thing I don't understand - why do you have to attend the AGM in order to vote? I don't particularly want to spend a night in a hotel in Leicester, even if there is a mega piss up involved. Surely it is not beyond the capabilities of the BPA to arrange a proxy vote for members.
  16. The first topic has been briefly discussed in the Gear and Rigging forum but I believe that it deserves a wider audience. it has been taken from the minutes of the STC meeting on February 5th. A great deal of discussion ensued, after which it was proposed by Karen Farr and seconded by Dave Hickling, that from the 1st July 2004, all parachutists below FAI ‘B’ Certificate, excluding parachutists jumping Traditional (front & back) static line equipment, must use equipment fitted with an operational AAD which must be switched on prior to any descent. For: 10 Against: 1 Abstentions: 1 Carried Following further discussion, it was proposed by Andy Guest and seconded by Ian Cashman that from the 1st July 2004 all parachutists taking part in display jumps must use equipment fitted with an operational AAD which must be switched on prior to any descent. For: 8 Against: 0 Abstentions: 4 Carried Note: The above two decisions will be worded as Operations Manual amendments for presentation at the STC meeting of the 8th April 2004. Does this mean that the BPA will refund the membership of any jumpers it has now effectively stopped from jumping? The second piece of bad news is taken from the BPA website. The Insurance Committee does not expect such variations, once formally approved by the BPA Council, to result in a lowering or even pegging of the insurance premium at the next renewal. The Committee advises all BPA Members to be prepared for further increases, although it hopes these will be lower than this year’s unprecedented 150% increase. Not only have we paid through the nose for this years membership but we are being told to brace ourselves for further increases. This, to me, doesn't seem to be doing much to encourage and promote skydiving in the UK.
  17. In the UK skydivers are advised not to give blood but I still give a pint every 6 months, hell, I might need it some day!
  18. From UK Scotland Wales Ireland (north and south) France (x4) Spain Majorca Portugal Barbados Holland Tenerife Lanzarote Corfu Cyprus Greece USA (x3) Think that's it.
  19. I recently travelled from Manchester (UK) to Orlando via Philadelphia with US Airways. Going out, I put my Cypres equipped rig in a hard suitcase and checked it in. When I got it back the TSA had busted the lock and had a look see. Coming back to the UK, my rig went as carry on in a rig bag, didn't even raise an eyebrow going through the x-ray machine.
  20. I've just returned to the UK after doing the 1st. Freefly Search. All I can say is that it is worth every single penny. The weather wasn't brilliant but when we were rained off time was filled in with good stuff like a tour of Performance Designs and packing lessons if required. I managed to get all of my jumps in by doing 8 on the final day. And you do meet some really cool people (thank you so much Juliana and Fabian, and also Dr. John). I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn fast.
  21. Yippee, got my confirmation today. All I need to do now is beg, stael or borrow the money.......
  22. Has anyone been chosen for this yet? I applied online a while ago but haven't heard anything. SkydiveU haven't even replied to my e-mails!
