  1. Had a bad weather day at the DZ no jumps, just practice for next though. Guess not everyday will be good for skydiving.
  2. Thanks Nigel, Have done some S/L jumps from 3,500 feet so will keep it in mind. Altitude awareness is key to everything.
  3. To Popsjumper and the others, switched over to an AFF program as some suggested. Another DZ was suggested, have gone there. Completed a successful Cat B AFF Skydive from 13,500 feet AGL on 07/21/2012. The videos help so I can make adjustments. Much more relaxed, more comfortable in my jumps. As always the jump would not of been successful with the Great Skydiving Instructors. Just a guy going for his A License, maybe someday can call myself a skydiver. Blue Skies
  4. Tried the static line course, however switched to an AFF course and doing much better.
  5. Thanks for your input, agree with your statement. Am going to the DZ to hang out.
  6. Thanks for the advice, find the comments helpful.
  7. Have heard singers and actors doing that before a gig (show biz lingo).
  8. Am in the Tandem/AFF program. Know there are different ways to improving your Skydiving Experience. Have found I can not listen to music going to or coming back from the dropzone, as I need to stay calm, keep a clear head so I can think about skydiving that day, and to relax. Also found that going to the dropzone on a day when you are not even jumping helps me feel part of the environment, can ask questions, to make a connection to skydiving (not to see it as a unknown myth). What other ways have you found to help to increase your understanding of Skydiving?
  9. Will do popsjumper. Relaxing, taking a clearer approach, with an understanding about safety. Think this AFF program will be better for me.
  10. Have done tandems and static line jumps before with another DZ. The staff at Skydive Columbus was friendly, polite, processed the appointment in an appropriate manner. The Instructor (Mac) was friendly, knowledgeable about skydiving, went over the instructions on the ground and in the air. So there were no surprises. Had a great tandem jump.
  11. Dthames, thanks did a tandem from 10,000 feet today, it went better, arched, watched the altimi pulled at 5500 feet. Am going to switch to the AFF program.
  12. Popsjumper, am just starting out so your opinion and advice are helpful.
  13. Thanks for the advice potatoman, am taking a more relaed approach, what to learn, get comfortable with the equipment. The DZ uses the lti on every jump, to make sure become used to looking at it and for the flight pattern.
  14. Hi Nigel, yes cutaway the line over. Am switching from a static line course to a AFF. Taking a calmer, relax approach to learning skydiving this time. The S?l felt rushed.
  15. Would like your opinion, was in a process of a Static Line program, I could not get the arch even though I felt I was doing it. Think maybe going to a DZ that has a AFF program, which really has more hands on training, would be a better course?
  16. Tell people skydiving is safer than driving a car or crossing the street, but they still say skydiving is dangerous. Now just smile and walk away. Kind of like spitting into the wind.
  17. Agree was looking around for wind tunnels in Ohio only one is in Dayton Wright Patterson AF Base and it is closed to the public. So do need a commerical one, would be there training.
  18. Thanks. Had some lines twists before and was able to correct them. On that jump things looked too messed up. Felt it was better to cut away. But will work on things.
  19. Some background, did a Static Line Jump, last year, when going for the risers noticed the right did not come down like the left, noticed the line over. Released the brakes all the way, then pumped twice. Am a student, so should of cutaway sooner. But I wanted to fix the issue, looked at the altimeter, thought I had time, hindsight may of been some what hesitant. Repeated the third S/L today, got knocked on my back, the lines were twisted, the slider stuck. I cutaway on instinct this time. Even I have to repeat it, the hesitation to do a cutaway is gone, so in a way the jump had some positive aspects.
  20. On my second S/L had a hard landing, sprained my right ankle. Was down for a few weeks. Third S/L/ made some mistakes. Read the Skydiver's Handbook during that time. Have been doing yoga to stregthen my core and back. Heal up. Get back up there.
  21. Glad to read you have decided to have the tumor removed. If this helps you live a more enjoyable life, then great. Hope you are able to continue with the skydiving.
  22. Hi, Going through my S/L Jumps (been Skydiving throughout the years (tandems). On thirds S/L lost radio communication had to land all on my own. Did the flight pattern, went long, was coming over some telephone lines and going into the corn fields. Made a slight extra low turn. It was enough to get the instructor upset at me once on the ground. There was little air. Learned my lesson, will not do a low turn ever.
  23. Hi Skymama, Was planning to go jumping at Skydive Greene County (SGC) in Xenia, OH today but the skies are not looking too good. Would like to go to some boogies, maybe Bridge Day in WV.
  24. Have been skydiving through the years since 1990, tandems. Began the process for the A License back then. The first instructor died in a skydiving accident so tdecided to do tandems, but got tired of just doing them. Begining the process to get the A license again. Have 8 jumps, a member of POPS. Blue Skies
