ifics 0 #1 October 10, 2003 I am deciding between the Z1 freefly helmet or one of the bonehead's. I have tried on the boneheads gunner and its pretty nice. Anyone have the Z1? Is it comfortable?
skybytch 259 #2 October 10, 2003 The Z1's run smaller than US built helmets. What size Bonehead did you try on? If it was an XL then a Z1 probably won't fit your head.
ifics 0 #3 October 10, 2003 I tried on a Medium Bonehead helmet. It didn't really fit but the padding felt nice. I have herd good things about the Z1 full face so I was just wondering if that quality carried over to the freefly helmet.
skybytch 259 #4 October 10, 2003 I've tried on one of the Z1 Evo freefly helmets. Not quite as cushy as a Gunner - the Gunner is hands down the most comfortable helmet I've ever put on my head. I did notice that the Z1 Evo is a lot like the Hurricane in that it seems to fit slimmer faces better than.. err... less slim faces.
SkydivinMedic 0 #6 October 10, 2003 I actually just got a Z1 EVO!! Haven't had a chance to fly with it yet, but I love the style, and the fit!!
firediver 0 #7 October 10, 2003 I've been using my Z1 evo for about a month now. Love it....I haven't tried every helmet, but I love this one... Skydiving isn't scary;...but clowns...CLOWNS are scary!
Amazon 7 #8 October 11, 2003 I have been jumping a Z-1 Evo since April when I bought it... ITs a good comfy helmet and I have banged it a few time pretty hard on Cessna wings ( sometimes being tall is a pain in the head) and suffered no ill effects. All in all a good helmet... two pouches next to your ear built in for Pro-Track is nice although my helmet is a bit tight when I have both in. I found the clip and strap a bit hard to keep tightened.. BUT I did manage to stich it down and have had no problems since. I did get kicked in the face once.... on a combat RW exit... no open face would have prevented that. The fat lip healed.... but the bloody nose in freefall was...uh...interesting. I found the point at which the Evo starts to lift off my head at about 240MPH True Air Speed.. when I am looking at the ground... doing a speed dive... All depends on how much you will be spending.. The Bonehead may have a bit more foam... and a more solid carbon fibre....but if you are whacking your head that hard that it would break the shell..neither will protect you any better than the other. Peej 0 #9 October 13, 2003 Hey, I've been jumping my Z1 Evo since i came off student status and i must admit that i have loved every jump with it. I jumped an instructors bonehead and that was sweet too, somehow i just preferred the Z1. It fits really snug, the dytter pockets are great and it's nice and quiet. Oh and it protected my melon just fine on my first downwinder the other day safe skies Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
lazyfrog 0 #10 October 13, 2003 I have a Z1 Evo open face, nice and comfy, but IMO not rigid enough for the camera... I really love it, cause I had it for free... and the colour is awesome... kind of metallic green---------- Fumer tue, péter pue ------------- ourson #10, Mosquito Uno, CBT
