300d & Sigma 15mm vignette

I just bought a sigma 15mm for my digital rebel today. It's got a pretty bad vignette with it. Is it supposed to be like that? The guy that sold it to me at Norman Camera said it wouldn't. Does anyone else have this setup?

This might sound like a really stupid question, but did you remove both parts of the lens cap?

The thing is about as big as a teacup and from what you described it sounds like you left part of it on...

I use the lens too, and there is no vignetting whatsoever.

It looks like the lens cap is only 1 piece. I took it off and put on a uv filter I bought for it. I tried it w/o the uv filter too and it's still there.

Nevermind. I just read the instructions and figured out what you guys meant. Thanks. That's what it was. I guess I should have read that first

So the UV filter I bought to protect it isn't going to help, huh

Um.. I think you only removed part of the lens cap still.. this lens does not take UV filters on the front element.

Thanks man. That's what it looks like now that I took that ring off of it. But I paid an extra $40 for this clear cover that screws on to the inside of the ring.

It seems like everything in that store was a bit pricey. I paid $449 for the lens and I just saw the exact same lens on DigitalSaver.com for $100 less.

They also tried to sell me a RoadStor cd burner for $269. I just bought a factory reconditioned one on ebay for $148.

Is there a good reason I should be buying this stuff in the store instead of online, or did I just waste a bunch of money in there?

Stores are great if you need it now, or if you can demo some of the gear there before buying it.
