PC105 vs TRV19

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of getting back into doing some fun camera work (free flying) and maybe a few tandem camera. I used to do camera back when Hi-8 was the order of the day. Now I'm needing to know what are the advantages / disadvantages between the TRV19 and PC105 (these are the choices I have)
I.E> what would I gain by spending the extra on the PC105 ?

They're the same camera electronically and optically. They only differ in the way they are layed out. Therefore your only consideration needs to be how you want to mount your camera.... side go for PC, top go for TRV, (I've seen pics of these reversed but they stick out a lot).

Since the TRV 19, TRV 22 and TRV 33 line is being discontinued, you should be able to buy them cheap at close-out sales. For example, the local (Coquitlam) SONY Store offered me a TRV 33 for CAN$850. Last year the same camera retailed for CAN$1300.
The salesman also said that he had no more TRV 22 cameras in stock.
It looks like the TRV series is being replaced by the HC series.

i bought a trv 19 last year. main reason: it was cheaoer than the pc105.
what i like about it is the fact that it is smaller than the pc series and a bit lighter.
you can mount the trv also on the side of the helmet (made the bracket myself) - and thats the only "disadvantage" it has: the slightly rounded side, that doesnt fit so snug against the helmet/bracket
The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle
