There's no way to accidentally turn off the FireWire.

It's probably just broken.

Have you had this camera its entire "life" or did you buy it used?

ok, that's what i thought.

and no, i bought it used.

but the port worked when i got it, i have had it for about a year and a half now.

does anyone know what kind of price i may be looking at to get it fixed??

Sometimes, believe it or not, if you change the firewore ends around, turn off your camera, and then restart it, it might work. I've run into this problem several times while D.L. ing for a DVD.

Give it a shot, if it doesn't work, send it in for a fix up!

Check http://products.sel.sony.com/SEL/service/service.html

When entering in the model number, enter the full model number of DCRTRV11.

Here's the responce I got back.

The cost to repair this unit under our Flat Rate Program is $269.00 (plus any applicable taxes). Return shipping is included in this price.

This pricing is only valid at Sony owned service locations.
