markbaur 0 #5 February 26, 2003 QuoteI have a Digitude that has been going nuts and reading wrong altitudes. First think to check is the battery. Duracells work; Energizers don't. Something about slightly different contact surfaces. Mark
alain 0 #6 February 26, 2003 mark> Duracells work; Energizers don't good point !!! last time I used mine it was running on enrgizers: sometimes it would not turn on, some times switch off without warning then I bought a needle alti... i'm gona try the digitude with the right batteries and check it out! (the digitude is good for night jumps, when it works) AL1

keskeie 0 #8 February 26, 2003 Very true on the batteries..... Mine started giving me junk in the cold (well, L.A. cold) mornings. I thought there was moisture in it or something...because it would work eventually when we got up a few thousand feet. Anyways, I put a new duracell in it and it was back to normal. We were never feeling bored because we were never being boring. -Zelda Fitzgerald
skycat 0 #9 February 26, 2003 I use the energizer photo lithium batteries in mine and have never had an issue. They also last a really really long time and arn't affected by cold like other batteries. (these are the same AA batteries I use in my digital camera when snowboarding)Fly it like you stole it! markbaur 0 #10 February 26, 2003 Quote<> Interesting... how was this information found? Short answer: info from the manufacturer. Long answer: About a year ago, my Digitude showed erratic readings: rapid changes in indicated altitude, display blanking, stuff like that. I sent it back to the manufacturer. He sent it back with a note saying it chambered okay -- the problem was shape of the contacts on the Energizer I'd installed, and I should switch back to a Duracell. I did, and haven't had a problem since. Mark
cloud9 0 #11 February 27, 2003 I sent mine in, they put a new case and a new LED and checked calibration. All for about $30 bucks. It came back like new!
