Exit Position names.

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me the proper names for 4 way exit positions (tail, point etc)? Let’s say the following diagram is the plane with the 4 jumpers.

<----00---< Jumpers inside the plane
---- 00 Jumpers outside of the plane

Thanks so much.

that diagram won't work, because it depends on what you're taking out the door.
But the positions are
Front Float
Outside Centre
Inside Centre
Rear Float

Many times you'll have 2.5 to 3 people out the plane and only the IC inside, other times will be 2 in 2 out, it all depends on the formation your fly out the door:)

Front float is typically called the Point, and rear float the Tail. Squeak is correct about the positions being rotated for some exits. Attached is an article I wrote last year for Parachutist magazine about 4-way techniques. It includes a brief explanation of the responsibilities of each position. Hope this helps!
